Entry to the palace is free. The structure and. architecture of this place is magnificent. A lot of walking is required. Guided tour were provided but have to go through some booking. I did not try their tour because I wanted to explore the place at my own pace. The view of the palace is amazing. It is exactly like those shown in dramas. Even the garden area was stunning. There were plenty of rest area around so its ok for people who cant walk too much.

The cherry blossoms at Kyoto Imperial Palace are in bloom for the first time, both white and pink!
#KyotoImperial Palace The cherry blossoms are white and pink when they first bloom
I knew I was going in mid-March, before the cherry blossom season, so the chance of seeing the cherry blossoms was slim. However, after going to Kyoto Imperial Palace, I was about to walk back to the parking lot. I saw a sea of pink and white flowers in the distance (although I can see a bit sparse from a distance).
But as I walked over, I saw that there were many that had begun to bloom, and there were many people taking pictures ~
I'm very lucky this time🌸 I saw a little, not all open but happy enough, I imagine it will be opened very often later, it must be spectacular!
📍Kyoto Imperial Palace
🚗Driving Guide: Parking Parking✅
Remember that there are two parking spaces in the park, the main parking lot and the "Qingheyuan" parking lot.
See Google Map's editor, see the rating is quite good to park in the "Qing Heyuan" parking lot, less parking space but very good parking, more seats, but to the main entrance walk a long way (15mins) round trip really tired😂 🤣
To get closer to the main entrance, remember to park in the parking lot of Kyoto Imperial Palace on the other side - it should be a 5-minute walk away, although there are many cars, but the parking lot is large.

Kyoto Gyoen was the residence of the emperor in Kyoto before Japan moved its capital to Tokyo. It is of great significance in Japanese history.
It is located in Kamigyo-ku, Kyoto City. It is not a long drive from Kyoto Station. If you take the subway Karasuma Line to "Marutamachi Station" and use Exit 1, it only takes about 1 minute to walk.
Kyoto Imperial Garden includes the Kyoto Imperial Palace and the surrounding Imperial Garden area. The latter is a park where you can walk around and is free to visit.
During the flowering period every spring, numerous cherry blossoms bloom one after another in the park. The park is awash in peach and pink, which is quite beautiful. It is a popular cherry blossom viewing spot in Kyoto.

Kyoto Gyoen, Kyoto Imperial Palace.
There are many gravel roads, and you can't enter the important places, so it's pretty empty.
However, I like looking at the large, old trees, so I think it's a good park.
The pines in particular are magnificent, and I like looking at the roots of trees, so it was great.
You can stroll around quietly.

There was some constructions works going on, and the tour is not interesting, also the emperror's throne was not there since they moved it to Tokyo for the celebration.
I would recommend to go to Nijo castle, you have to pay for that one but totally worth it.

Ginkgo Season in Kyoto: Kyoto Imperial Palace
Autumn in Kyoto is colorful, and that's no lie. With the annual ginkgo season approaching, I went to the famous ginkgo spot, Kyoto Imperial Palace, to check in.
📍Detailed address: 〒602-0811 Kyoto, Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto Gyoen
🚗Transportation: Take the Karasuma Line from Kyoto Station to Marutamachi Station, then walk for 15 minutes
🕙Opening hours: 9:00 am–4:00 pm
💰Ticket price: 🆓
🌟Highlights: Kyoto Imperial Palace is located across from the Kamo River. It was once the residence of the Japanese emperor, and several emperors were enthroned here, so it is also known as the Kyoto Imperial Palace. It has a history of hundreds of years.
At the same time, it is also known as one of Japan's three major national parks, along with the Tokyo Imperial Palace Outer Garden and Shinjuku Gyoen. It's quite large, with 10 halls alone, and it takes at least an hour to visit.
Spring and autumn are the peak seasons here, with pink cherry blossoms, fiery red maple leaves, and golden ginkgo trees creating a stunning landscape that attracts many influencers to check in.
📌Travel tips:
✅In addition to ginkgo, this is also one of the top spots in Kyoto for viewing maple leaves, especially at the Sento Imperial Palace Garden, where the red maple leaves and yellow ginkgo trees create a stunning contrast.
✅Kyoto Imperial Palace is open to the public for free. Before entering, you need to go through a simple security check, and then the staff will give you a "Kyoto Imperial Palace Admission Ticket." There is also a Chinese tour at 10:00 am every day.
✅The largest building in the palace is the Shishinden, where successive emperors and empresses held their enthronement ceremonies. The overall architecture follows the traditional Japanese style and is quite impressive.
✅The place where the emperor usually lived is the Gochogoten. Compared to the Forbidden City in China, it may seem a bit shabby, but it is still quite unique. It is said that the current emperor still visits from time to time.
✅Kyoto Imperial Palace is not open every day, and is generally only open to the public during specific times in spring and autumn. In addition, some areas of the park are only open to Japanese citizens.

Ancient Kyoto Weekend stay
Kyoto is one of our favourite destinations that we often do over weekends. It is amongst the oldest of places in the world and has so much heritage and history. One of the reasons Kyoto has such a high count of treasured sites worth visiting is because it was spared during World War 2.
It has been said that Kyoto was actually the initial intended target for the devastating atomic bomb, however Americans and allies had visited the city and thought it unwise to attack such a culturally relevant place to the Japanese.
If you’re able to plan your Japan travel to coincide with cherry blossom season, then you will surely be grinning from ear to ear. Kyoto especially is covered in cherry blossom trees, and visiting this ancient city with its awe-inspiring sites framed by cherry blossoms is truly a special sight to admire. Here are the top sights you should cover over the weekends if ancient Kyoto and its heritage interest you:-
1) Kinkaku- ji Temple
2) Kiyomizu Dera Temple
3) Ginkaku - Ji Temple
4) Fushimi Inari Taisha
5) Arashiyama Bamboo Grove
6) Kyoto imperial palace
7) Nijo castle.
There is ofcourse so much to see in kyoto, beyond what i have mentioned. But if it's a weekend trip and you wish to focus on older things. This will give you a good glimpse of that side in Kyoto.

Takashi Murakami and Cherry Blossoms
This year, the weather in Japan has been unpredictable, posing a significant challenge to the cherry blossom viewing schedules on various websites. Plans to enjoy the cherry blossoms in Kyoto had to be adjusted repeatedly. Fortunately, the Kyoto City Museum is hosting an exhibition by Takashi Murakami, allowing me to appreciate art indoors on rainy days.
The current status of cherry blossoms in Kyoto is as follows: Seiryo High School, the Kawazu cherry trees along the Yodo River, and the cherry blossoms in Kyoto Imperial Palace are in relatively good condition. I believe that after the first week of April, more cherry blossoms will start to bloom. I hope to return to Kyoto next year to enjoy the beautiful cherry blossom season.

Kyoto Imperial Palace
#thingstodo A massive palace complex with majestic architecture, intricate gardens and huge courtyards worthy of the royal family. The buildings are not open to public but you can walk around them. It’s one of the main attractions in Kyoto and still used for court functions today. Parking available inside the grounds. We enjoyed our visit and hope you will too.

#2024wish
The palace was the residence of the Japanese emperors for over 500 years until 1869 when the capital moved to Tokyo. There is no need for a guide since there is a very informative brochure given out in several languages. No one can enter any of the buildings. The gardens would be stunning in the spring with the cherry blossoms but were beautiful with the unique trees, stone bridges and a meandering stream.
I want to visit Kyoto this year again.

#2024wish Beautiful nature on the outside garden which i guess you can picnic in a spring or summer season.
Inside the palace, everyone will walk in the provided flow. Most of the tour is exploring the exterior and the garden. I’m quite enjoy but it would be better to know more about story or the detail inside that relate to the royal culture. Or more explanation about the exterior detail or even the garden.
However, its was a fine experience to appreciate the garden. Their tree arrangement is the best.
I wish to travel more to many prefectures in Japan.

Exploring the Oikeniwa Garden, with its meticulously landscaped ponds, bridges, and trees, offers a tranquil respite, perfect for contemplation and appreciation of traditional Japanese garden design.
One of the highlights is the Shishinden Hall, the heart of the palace used for important state ceremonies. While the interior is not open to the public, its grandeur and historical significance can be felt from the outside, leaving visitors in awe of its architectural prowess.

【Kyoto Imperial Palace · Plum Blossom · 2023】
Today I'm going to Kyoto Station to repair my loose prayer beads 📿️, so I passed by the Kyoto Imperial Palace. I didn't expect the plum blossoms here to be in full bloom, and I couldn't help but forget about the things in my hands and started to take a walk. They are really beautiful, the strong contrast between the white and red plum blossoms is so beautiful!

Kyoto Imperial Palace is said to be the previous ruling place of the Japanese Imperial family just before the Royal Family transferred to Tokyo. I love this place because it is very serene inside. Very quite and full of nature. Keep hydrated tho because it is such a long walk, the passaways are quite long and one building to another is quite far.
