Sacred Heart Cathedral in Ningbo
Sacred Heart Cathedral was originally built in 1872 and is located in the old bund of Ningbo, China. It is a stunning example of Gothic style architecture! The church was partially burned down in 2006 but has since been fully restored!
The church is gorgeous and definitely worth checking out if you are in the old bund area! The stained glass windows were pretty and the gates around the church were very ornamental. If you like old churches or if you are an architecture nerd you won’t be disappointed!
We visited at night and the church was lit up beautifully! The church does offer services in English and the service times are located on their sign out front.

Old bund, Moon lake, and Science Exploration Center, Ningbo, Zhejiang, China. That's all I covered with one night's stay there. It was an awesome trip. The Moon Lake is about a one-kilometer walking distance from Ningbo Railway Station. It was nice to watch the boats floating all around the lake paddling by the visitors. The Old Bund is awesome at night. The adjacent church is a must visiting spot. You can enjoy late-night drinking at any chosen bar among many with live music. Overall, I like the vibrancy of Ningbo🤗

Old Bund Post Office.
The Old Bund Post Office is located on Waima Road, Jiangbei District, Ningbo City. It is a typical European-style building with a corridor. The exterior is a two-story red brick building with a small courtyard with a low wall. The overall style is harmonious and elegant. The building was built in 1927 and was the location of the Ningbo Post Office at that time, reflecting the prosperity and importance of the Old Bund at that time. The history of the Ningbo Post Office can be traced back to 1878, when Li Hongzhang commissioned the customs tax department to try to run the Qing Post Office. Ningbo established a post office in 1879, but the specific address is unknown. In 1927, the post office moved to this building in the Old Bund and became the location of the Ningbo Post Office at that time. The Old Bund Post Office is a two-story brick-concrete building with an exterior corridor. The front facade is influenced by classicism, divided into five sections on the left and right, and three sections on the top and bottom. The building is decorated with brick arches and blue and red bricks. The first-floor arcade on the front facade has Ionic capitals cast in concrete, with delicate moldings and exquisite workmanship.

Old Bund on the banks of the Yong River.
Ningbo's "Old Bund" lies quietly on the banks of the Yong River. It is a scenic spot full of historical charm and exotic customs, and a modern city card of Ningbo. This is a must-see place for Ningbo tourism.
The "Old Bund" carries the integration of history and modernity. Walking on the exotic streets, every step is a reverberation of time, and every glance is a different scene, like a flowing picture.
In the Tang Dynasty, the Old Bund was one of the four major ports in China. It was the starting point of Jianzhen's eastward journey and the starting point of the Maritime Tea Road. Here, there is both the precipitation of history and the vitality of modernity. The continuous integration of the two creates a unique charm.

Ningbo Travel Notes: Day trip to Sanjiangkou, night tour of Laowaitan.
From Jiaxing to Ningbo, we took the highway. It gets dark early now, and driving is a bit tiring. I suggest driving during the day, as visibility is poor at night, and it's easy to get tired from focusing too much.
The expressway was a bit congested, and we missed the exit. Fortunately, the earth is round, and we arrived at the hotel after an extra 20 minutes or so.
The hotel was average. We had to wait half an hour for hot water when we checked in, so I didn't leave a review, let alone a bad review. I can understand that there was a malfunction and they had to repair it urgently.
After checking in, we went out to find food. Our destination was Laowaitan, so we crossed the bridge and strolled for a while. Our goal was clear: to eat local Ningbo cuisine.
Laowaitan is well built and very lively, with lots of people, bars, and bright lights. The buildings are distinctive and photogenic. The cultural tourism industry is thriving, and it's worth staying for a cup of coffee or a couple of beers.
I was traveling with my wife. She likes taking photos, and I like sightseeing.
We passed a bar, and a very proper and serious pretty girl said, "Hey, come on in." I said, "No, my wife is behind me."
We found a restaurant with a lot of character, very close to Laowaitan. The dishes were all on display, and they looked delicious, especially the chicken, duck, fish, and meat. The restaurant was decorated in a simple and unadorned style, reminiscent of an ancient tavern.
We ordered five dishes. The crab roe tofu pot was a specialty, the Dongpo pork was fatty but not greasy, the snow vegetable stewed yellow croaker was tender, the potato and onion was fragrant, the snow vegetable and egg was delicious, and the white rice and Ningbo beer were perfect.
After eating and drinking, we continued sightseeing and taking photos.
Across the river, we saw a huge, bright Xinhua Bookstore. It was the largest Xinhua Bookstore sign I had ever seen, so I had to take a photo and give it a thumbs up. The bookstore had a strong literary atmosphere, which is typical of Ningbo.
We went back to the hotel to sleep. After breakfast the next morning, we strolled along the river, looking at Sanjiangkou and the skyline.
When we arrived in Ningbo at night, I thought the place we were staying was average. But in the daytime, I realized it was a prime location. I have been to Ningbo many times, but I have never walked around so much, so it was a memorable experience. My next destination must be Tianyi Pavilion.

Ningbo Free Travel Stop 7: Old Bund.
Take a taxi from Cixi Ancient Town to Old Bund to see the night view.
Located at the confluence of the Yongjiang, Fenghua, and Yuyao Rivers, Ningbo Old Bund has been a bustling port since the Tang and Song Dynasties and is an important starting point for Ningbo merchants.
In 1842, Ningbo was opened as one of the "Five Treaty Ports." Although it was a humiliation at the time, it also brought business opportunities.
Ningbo Old Bund was opened in 1844, and the "first Chinese bank," "first Chinese insurance company," and "first modern post office" were all born here.
The Old Bund still retains its original appearance, with a large number of Chinese and Western religious buildings, foreign firms, celebrity residences, and Shikumen buildings in the neighborhood. It has nine cultural heritage sites and cultural relic protection units, including one World Cultural Heritage site and two national key cultural relic protection units.
(Photos 2 and 3) The landmark Old Bund Catholic Church attracts many tourists to "check in."
If you have enough time, it is best to visit the Old Bund in the afternoon to see the Ningbo Art Museum and China Insurance Museum, and then enjoy the night view in the evening.
