Lau Pa Sat market in town
In the heart of Singapore’s central business district, there is a well-known local hawker market called Lau Pa Sat! It has actually become a popular tourist destination because of the delicious and authentic local food you can get here. Some of the famous food options you have to try are the Hokkien mee, bak kut teh and fried kway teow.
Also, I highly recommend coming later in the evening as that’s when they will cordon off one whole street from traffic to set up barbecued satay live stations! Customers can sit at the makeshift tables and chairs along this street and dine under the stars. It is quite the experience as you soak in the hawker street food bustle!
My overall rating of the experience: 5 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Exploring the oldest market in Singapore
Address: Lau Pa Sat, 18 Raffles Quay, Singapore 048582
Recently renovated, this hawker is located in the central business district of Singapore. It was my first time visiting this place, and it has a huge variety of food from local delicacies and international food.
I was craving for some prawn noodle and roasted duck - although there were quite a number of stalls selling the same thing, I gave these two a try as they had a queue.
1. Prawn noodle - 10/10 wok hey hokkien mee with a unique sambal! Would definitely eat this again if I'm in the area.
2. Roasted duck soya sauce noodle - 10/10 very light and yummy! I definitely gobbled the whole thing up in seconds!
3. Burnt cheese tart - 10/10 after my savoury and spicy meal, a sweet tart is perfect to helped balanced the flavours. The tart was light and airy too!
4. Watermelon juice - 10/10 very refreshing! It was sweet and cheap. Way better than the $9 watermelon juice I had at Prive.
5. Mochi waffle with peanut butter - 10/10 nice chewy texture with crunchy peanut butter.
Overall I would come back here and give the other food a try!

Lau Pa Sat is the largest
existing Victorian cast iron building in Southeast Asia! Located in the heart
of Singapore’s business district, Lau Pa Sat was originally a vegetable
market. It has now been converted into a food and beverage center that
provides a variety of affordable local foods. It’s a popular gathering place
for people enjoying a meal together. When Lau Pa Sat opened for the first
time in 1825, it quickly became an important seaside market where merchants
could load and unload cargo directly from their ships. Originally the
building was made of simple wood and Yata leaves built on wooden piles. Since
1973, Lau Pa Sat has been listed a national historic location. The famous
octagonal architectural style has been transformed into a contemporary food
paradise. Lau Pa Sat Food Centre was previously called Telok Ayer Bazaar.
There are a variety of local food stalls from satay to seafood barbecue and
everything in between.
Directions: Take the Blue Line to Telok Ayer Station; or take the Green or
Red Lines to Raffles City
Hours: Monday to Sunday 8:00-22:00
Cost: SG$10-30 per person

Lau Pa Sat Satay
The satay in Singapore is a must try, and the most popular spot to go in Lau Pa Sat in the city center! There are many satay stalls in Satay Street, and Satay 7/8 are must tries! The satay is AMAZING, sweet salty and tender. There is a long wait though, but it is worth it!

For those who crave just a good selection of Singapore favourites. This is the place. Visually this was the most beautiful market we have seen in Singapore. Love the Victorian style structures and the fact that this low rise building is surrounded by tall modern skyscrapers. This hawker centre has a distinctive clock tower and an octagonal shaped building. The stalls inside the building offer a huge range of options with all of the local delicacies that you would expect at reasonable prices. There are even some local craft brewery beers available. Lau Pa Sat offers a great atmosphere with unique architecture that sets it apart from other food centres. The food on offer was tasty and authentic. This is the home of some wonderful street food. The food is authentic and high quality, while also generally being quite cheap. What a great way to top off a wonderful stay in Singapore.

Dinner at lau pa sat
#travelanywhere
Lau pa sat is a must visit if you are in Singapore. I had dinner here with my friends at night during the weekends and it was super crowded here. It was my first time having dinner here so it was quite a nice experience for me. Ordered the sting ray and a vegetable and both dishes were quite delicious. Love the sting ray especially the sambal chilli. The satay was also flavorful and the maggie goreng was tasty and sinful! Nothing can go wrong with maggie indeed! We also had some alcohol since it was a chill night. Overall the vibes here is nice although it’s a bit hot at night and crowded as well as a bit noisy but it was really a fun and cool experience to dine here. Definitely a must visit when you are in Singapore. Lots of tourist here eating as well. Food was good but expensive of course! Wouldn’t hurt to try at least once.

Chewy pancakes
#familytrips2024
Munchi pancakes is famous for their min jiang kueh (pancakes) that have different delicious fillings including matcha, black sesame, etc. Classics like peanut butter, kaya is available as well. They have charcoal skin also. What makes them popular is their springy chewy pancake texture. There is usually a queue but the line moves pretty fast.

Visited lau pa sat with my family members to take a look around. There’s lot of variety of food here like sambal sting ray , satay and other local delights like fried kuayteow and hokkien mee. All of them look so delicious and tasty! Very long queue in most stores as well. Also there’s other cuisines like Mexican tacos and Vietnamese or Thai food here. Lots of food options to choose from. Can consider dining here with your family members at night and enjoy the vibes here. It’s a local tourist attraction as well

Right in front of the Lau Pa Sat dining area, you will be able to find some drawings about the past of Lau pa sat. You can also find a beautiful art piece of the entire Lau pa sat shown on the art piece .The art piece is very beautiful too. Our future destination is to visit the Kuala Lumpur Jalan alor. We will like to visit their food street there and try out their local famous food there. As we have enjoyed them in the past. We hope to try them again for our future trip there.

Lau Pa Sat
#singaporetrip Completed in 1824, Lau Pa Sat (old market in Hokkien) celebrates its 130th anniversary this year.
The market remains one of the oldest Victorian structures in South-East Asia and one of the first structures built in pre-fabricated cast iron in Asia.
It is a food court with stalls selling a variety of local cuisine. At night the adjacent street is closed off and transforms into a Satay Street.

Satay Street @ Lau Pa Sat
#Singapore #streetfood
After spending the whole day exploring Singapore city, we were exhausted and very hungry. Consequently, we headed to Satay Street for our late-night meal.
Satay Street is located at Lau Pa Sat, a historic building since 1894, which now houses many restaurants and serves as an open-air food center attraction. The place is famous for its satay, an Asian-style BBQ on skewers. While there are numerous satay shops to choose from, there is also a variety of local cuisine and drinks available in the same location.
Satay Street attracts a large crowd of people seeking great food and drinks. The atmosphere is lively and bustling.
After wandering around for some time due to the crowds, we finally found a good spot. We ordered sets of satay, local-style dishes, and some drinks, thoroughly enjoying our time there. The food and drinks were excellent, we highly recommend it.

Famous Food Stall
#cherryblossom2024
The lau pa sat is definitely one of the popular dining places for the locals here. You can find a wide range of food here. From Chinese to western to Japanese to Korean dishes. They also have famous stall holders here too .You have got to try them out. My favorites would still be the chicken rice which sometimes has a long queue there . During the morning breakfast time, I would like to have a cup of coffee and two half boiled eggs to go along with . The place is just less than ten minutes walk from the raffles place train station.

Food Markets Singapore
It was our first night🌙 in Singapore, and we were off to find the famous Michelin Star market foods. The first stop was Lau Pa Sat Hawker Centre, and then over to Newton Food Centre.
We were so overwhelmed with the delicious smells that whafted through the air from every direction, that we honestly didn't know what to choose. Eventually, we decided on some yummy dumplings, and waited in line for the famous Satay, which did not disappoint 😁🤩

🇸🇬 The historic Lau Pa Sat
Lau Pa Sat, also known as Telok Ayer Market, is one of the most touristy food courts in Singapore. Its history dates back to the 19th century. It was originally built in 1824 to served
as a wet market. In 1894, a cast-iron structure was imported from Glasgow, Scotland, and erected at the site, giving the market its distinctive octagonal shape. In the 1970s, Lau Pa Sat underwent significant renovations to transform it into a food centre.
The historic food centre offers a wide variety of local dishes and is conveniently located in the heart of the Central Business District, making it popular among both tourists and locals alike. It is easily accessible by public transportation. It is a short walk away from a few MRT stations including Downtown Station (DT17), Shenton Way station (TE19) or Raffles Place station (EW14/NS26).

Nice place to visit that gather all Singapore local street food. Although there are many food options but I love to eat satay here, there are many stalls of satay here. The road on one side is closed completely and tables and chairs are put on the street.
We prefer Satay no.8 and 9, the freshly barbecue satay are just amazing! Keep in mind, Beer can be order before 10:30pm only.
