Villa de daun is located next door to one of Bali's busiest tourist hubs, Legian Street, which is lined with blaring nightclubs and bars. However, once inside the hotel, it feels almost worlds apart. The ambience inside is tranquil and the grounds are spacious, featuring beautifully manicured lawns and pathways lined with tall palm trees and tropical greenery. There's a blend of colonial and Balinese styles throughout, and spaces like the lobby features marble floors, koi ponds, and comfy seating. Dala Spa is the hotel's most attractive facility, and is popular with both hotel guests and other travelers. Spa interiors are Victorian inspired and each treatment room features a different color scheme and decor.
De daun Restauant is understated and intimate, overlooking manicured lawns and tropical greenery from an open-air wooden pergola. All in all, with its high-level services like butlers, and the private villas, this property is best for couples seeking a little seclusion amid one of the island's busier areas.

The Baleka Resort Hotel & Spa is nestled on tropical grounds that help set the stage for what is -- generally speaking -- a quiet place. Balinese statuary dots the property and paths wind their way through the gardens, furthering the laid-back ambience. For the most part, the hotel is modern, with simple interiors that have just a touch of Balinese style. Take the lobby, for instance, with its vaulted wooden roof, Buddha statues, contemporary lighting, and Balinese tapestries -- it's a perfectly pleasant welcome to the hotel.
Elsewhere, though, the hotel's age is starting to show, and most rooms and other public areas are looking just a bit off modern. There aren't a ton of places to kick back here aside from a restaurant and bar, but the pool is a highlight and serves as a de facto social center for the property. With its unpretentious atmosphere, the Baleka draws mostly Australian tourists, many of whom are couples and families. It's worth noting that as of 2016, construction and renovations -- including an additional pool -- were ongoing, meaning noise and dust may be an issue during the day.

Located on a busy street lined with shops, cafes, and massage parlors, the Akmani Legian is easy to miss. Housed in a skinny white building, the hotel has a small entrance partially hidden behind one of its two restaurants, and the white sign bearing its name doesn't quite stand out among the many neon lights and banners lining the narrow sidewalks. Past the entrance, the hotel has a relaxing, serene vibe, with lots of greenery and a minimalist design in contrasting dark and off-white tones. The lobby is an airy space, with dark wooden floors and a mix of black classic furniture and white minimalist couches. Delicate latticework panels with a lotus flower design, and an accent wall covered in differently sized pieces of wood become recurring design motifs throughout the hotel, and lend it a softer, local charm.
At the end of the front desk is a small koi pond with three skinny statues of men playing instruments, and across from it is the lobby’s most striking feature: a wall covered in plants lining the stairs to the rooftop. Many of the surrounding hotels cater to young partiers due to the area’s hopping nightlife and dining scene, but this property draws couples as well as families with a more low-key vibe, a small kids’ club, and a spa with treatments for two.

FuramaXclusive Ocean Beach is one of the more contemporary hotels in the area, and not especially Balinese in its character. At first, the modern veneer is pleasant enough, but some rough edges are beginning to show here. The hotel is housed in a building with big windows and an entrance flanked by Balinese statuary, but it's a fairly striking, almost avant-garde design, with a minimalist palm-dotted lawn section and pool deck with topiary. The pool itself has an irregular freeform shape, and it zig-zags its way through the middle of the property, making it the default social hub of the property (for better or worse when it comes to noise).
The indoor public spaces feature big windows to let in natural light, and all are open to the air, but despite sharp marble details and ostensibly contemporary furniture, we spotted a good deal of wear, including missing baseboards and scuffed paint. This same problem plagues the rooms as well. The bistro restaurant and bar is an inviting space to have a meal or sip a cocktail and watch the sun set over the beach. Like at many of the other resorts in the area, the guest list skews heavily Australian, and while the crowd includes plenty of mature adults and families, it can get a little boisterous and lively at times. The hotel draws guests to its location near beach and shopping, and families especially benefit from the spacious rooms.

The first Hard Rock to open in Asia, this resort remains a wildly popular destination for couples and families from around the world. There is a fun, vibrant atmosphere here that's enhanced by rock memorabilia and bold colors covering the walls, furniture, and floors. The contemporary lobby is mood lit, with lots of mirrored surfaces and the hotel's signature black tribal designs across maroon carpets. The stars of the lobby, though, are the guitars that have been used and/or signed by rock legends like Sting, Slash, and Bon Jovi.
A rock theme runs throughout the hotel, from zebra-print booths and drum kit tables in the exclusive Rock Royalty Lounge to Centerstage, a more upscale venue with black leather stools, dark wood floors, and memorabilia like gold records, costumes, and instruments. Many of the restaurants have outdoor dining areas as well.
As a family-friendly property, the hotel is filled with activity throughout the day and isn't exactly a breezy, tranquil escape. That being said, the kids' and teen clubs, plus multiple large outdoor pools, and rock climbing walls make sure kids are happy, while leisure facilities like the on-site Rock Spa offer a chance for adults to relax in peace as well.

One of the newer hotels in the Kuta Beach area, the Pullman Bali Legian Beach’s exterior looks much like a large-scale hotel that you could find just about anywhere. However, the property’s white five-story buildings do all have what appears to be thatched roofs inspired by the frangipani tree, a nod to the local surroundings that blends in well with the dominant modern architecture.
The grounds are an interesting amalgam of tropical and contemporary. Classic Balinese temple-style sculptures sit amid copious amounts of palm trees and greenery. The result is chic with a touch of local culture.
The lobby has exceptionally high wooden ceilings, large columns, and marble floors and walls. The effect is decidedly impressive, just from the layout and sheer size if nothing else. Multiple reception areas at the 24-hour front desk are a good start, though past guests have noted that the check-in/out process could be refined. The Pullman attracts families, couples, singles, and even business travelers.

Popular with couples and families, the Bandha Hotel & Suites offers visitors an upscale environment with a laid-back atmosphere. Public spaces are plentiful and those inside the hotel generally have open-air layouts with fans, glossy floors, tall ceilings, and lots of natural light. A cream and white motif is used in the floors and furniture and is accented by blond wooden and bamboo accents in the form of decorative wooden slates or partitions.
Outdoor spots for guests to relax and interact are plentiful as well, and range from rooftop terraces to wooden decks in the middle of the lagoon pool. Mozzarella by the Sea, the restaurant, feels a bit more eco-chic with distressed wooden chairs with paint splashes, white outdoor plastic chairs, and metal and wooden canopies. Views of the beach are visible just past a small parking lot.

One of the oldest hotels in the Legian area, the Jayakarta Bali Resort has been around for more than 30 years, and is unfortunately showing its age. The property is designed in outdated traditional Balinese style, which means lots of dark wood and gold decorations on pillars, walls, and ceilings. The old-fashioned lobby has pebble-dash design marble flooring and dated dark-wood sofas, an old-fashioned reception desk, artificial flower displays, and an announcement board with unintentionally retro cinema-marquee-style tile lettering. Unfortunately, things don't improve much as you move throughout the hotel.
The beautifully manicured gardens are a striking contrast to the Jayakarta’s interiors, and are full of color. Well-maintained paths run between lawns and past the rooms. There are several restaurants, and their style ranges from almost charming -- like Jimbaran, which is built around an old tree -- to more tacky, like the gold, frilly decor at Benoa. The grounds around the restaurants sport garish branded advertising banners. Overall, the vibe here is casual, and frequently gets loud. This is especially the case around the hotel's main pool. The Jayakarta is popular with families and large groups, especially Australians, and often gets crowded. Couples, or anyone seeking a quiet retreat, may want to look elsewhere.

As far as atmosphere goes, the Loft Legian Hotel isn't exactly a destination hotel. That doesn't bother most guests, though, as those staying here are attracted to its affordable room rates and prime location that's great for dining, shopping, and enjoying the beach. The style, at least, is pleasantly modern and bright. The lobby and the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf -- an international chain -- share the first floor of the hotel in a large open space with tall ceilings. The cafe actually serves as the only social space at the hotel, and there are plenty of seating options, including comfy upholstered chairs and open-air street-side seating. The cafe walls are lined with large blown-up photographs of iconic Balinese imagery. The hotel is most popular with couples and solo travelers, but families on a budget also frequent the hotel (though the room sizes are a bit small for more than two people).

Bali's Stunning Sunset Beach: Legian Beach
Bali's sunsets are truly beautiful, especially around the Seminyak area. Today, I came to Legian Beach to enjoy a wonderful sunset. Arriving about half an hour before sunset, I could slowly watch the sun go down and take some photos. The whole experience was incredibly relaxing and enjoyable. Bali's sunsets are the most beautiful I've ever seen. Here, you don't need to spend any money; just watching this beautiful scenery is more than enough!

the place is nice, the location is strategic and easy to reach. There is ample parking space and two places to eat, namely the indoor area and the outdoor area. playing the song is also good because the song playing is a slow song so we can enjoy the food in a relaxed manner. The noodles are delicious and contain dumplings too, but sometimes the spiciness doesn't match the level ordered so you have to pay more attention. Besides that, I also really like rambutan shrimp because it tastes good and the texture is just right. but a little input, namely to pay more attention to tissues because sometimes in outdoor areas you don't get tissues.

The Mercure has a sleek aesthetic throughout that makes it a reliable outpost for the brand. Upon stepping up to the hotel, expect to see details like a contemporary lattice-style structure that leads into the airy, semi-open lobby, making a bold statement right off the bat. The lobby has a pleasant, slightly corporate feel, with glossy tiled floors and high wood-paneled walls. Seating areas have a few wickers chairs with bright blue cushions, and there's a tranquil waterfall garden in the courtyard. Green plants and palm trees bring a tropical feel to the grounds, and lanterns hang from trees around the glistening blue infinity pool. The rooftop pool is a popular spot during the day, with guests sipping on colorful cocktails and enjoying the poolside music. The hotel appeals to adult travelers and couples, though business travelers and families also stay here on occasion.

Composed of 15 private villas, this upscale property is set on pretty, well-maintained grounds. Its minimalist concrete architecture is enlivened by a bounty of lush plants lining paths and towering above walls. Decor is stylish and modern, featuring attractive wooden furniture paired with neutral and earthy tones. Khaki and cool gray shades in the lobby are enlivened by colorful modern art, fresh plants, and playful details like a cherry red stool and striped pillows. The adjoining dining space has a giant chalkboard menu on one of its walls and an eclectic collection of chairs. The partially open-air nature of the space makes it feel bright and airy, and overlooks lovely greenery.
Though located in the center of town, the atmosphere here is quiet and suited for those seeking privacy. The property draws both couples and families with kids, and makes a good getaway for honeymoons and other special occasions.

Bali Niksoma Boutique Beach Resort - This quietly sophisticated hotel feels far removed from the busy tourist throngs that crowd Kuta's streets, despite being just a stone's throw away from the action. A favorite of couples and Australian tourists, the property also tends to draw families, who congregate around the gorgeous pools sipping cocktails while their kids splash around. A calm vibe also pervades the elegant, open-air lobby, which has the pitched roof, slick tile, low-lying couches, and rattan touches typical of many Balinese properties. Pretty potted orchids lend pops of bright white atop the wooden front desk and table at the center of the room. Fantastic ocean views can be seen from floor-to-ceiling windows inside Hitana Restaurant, where jeweled chandeliers offer fantastic contrast to simple wood and rattan furnishings.
The outdoor seating area faces a vibrant green lawn, and guests can relax on rattan daybeds with purple throw pillows, or head into the white stone and wood bar, over which hang traditional-style lanterns. Grounds are simply landscaped, in line with the minimalist decor and emphasizing the blue ocean beyond.

Unlike many hotels in Bali, Ossotel has an urban, loft-inspired design. The sleek, modern lobby has a wood feature wall set against striped floors, a large wooden front desk, and a zebra-print rug. Huge glass windows allow for plenty of natural light, while a navy couch offers extra seating. Open-air hallways --decorated with stones and plants -- make the hotel feel even more relaxed.
The lobby is small, though, and there aren’t many common areas with seating for guests. Romeos Bar & Grillery, the on-site restaurant and bar, extends the urban aesthetic with an industrial design theme of exposed brick and concrete floors, alongside wooden tables and chairs, and pendant lights. As in the lobby, tall windows allow for plenty of natural light, and there are flat-screen TVs and a large bar area. Outdoors, the pool winds its way around the grounds, a long, narrow river flanked by greenery and sunbeds.

Bliss Surfer Hotel - A surf theme runs throughout the hotel, giving it a fun vibe that's young and kitschy, but manages to be appealing nonetheless. When the hotel's low rates are added to the mix, this is a solid value for central Legian. Suspended surfboards run along the hotel's facade, a motif that continues inside the lobby -- from signs to walls.
The beachy style is amplified by extras like the outdoor sandy area with a fire pit, or the lagoon-like pool that partially wraps around the hotel. Palm trees add a tropical touch, as does the attractive hanging plants that dangle over the entrance to Barbora Bar and Restaurant. The restaurant has a wood-paneled bar and high stools, and sunhats donated by past guests speak to a loyal, happy clientele. Indoor spaces are likewise beach-inspired, though the decor has a polished look that keeps things from feeling overdone. The spa, for instance, calls to mind Scandinavian design elements. Given its cheerful vibe and mostly laid-back atmosphere -- not to mention the wide range of rooms (some of which can suit groups) -- the hotel draws travelers from a broad spectrum. Families, friends, and couples are all frequent guests here.

The Swiss-Belinn Legian gets a lot of younger clients, including plenty of Australian and Japanese tourists. The facade of the five-story hotel looks futuristic, with its angular wood panels and red accents adorned with draped tropical foliage. The lobby is small but welcoming and has turquoise couches and gray banquettes. Elevators and stairs lead up to rooms and onto the rooftop. Note that the property is situated on a busy street and thus can get some traffic noise.
Only five of the rooms have balconies; guests in non-balcony rooms should note that the windows do not open. Ground-floor rooms open straight out on to the restaurant and can be noisy; those wanting quiet should request a room on a higher floor.

Although the hotel is located along a buzzing crowded street, inside the property there's a refreshing sense of spaciousness and calm. This relaxed atmosphere is one of the reasons the hotel has so many repeat guests, many of which consider the hotel something of a second home, often staying for two weeks or more at a time. The hotel is popular with both couples and families, and especially with retirees.
The focal point of the hotel are two spacious adjoining pools featuring lap pool and kids' pool sections. The pools are surrounded by a large tiled patio, lined with plenty of lounge chairs. The hot tropical sun can be quite bright and harsh around the pool area, as there's minimal greenery and shade. The Hot Mango Restaurant features sleek stylish interiors with black marble floors, potted tropical plants, and a long bar with a marble top and a green patterned tile facade. In addition the the seating inside there is also an alfresco dining area poolside.

The Magani Hotel and Spa - This property sets itself apart from other nearby hotels with its immaculate, modern interiors and friendly approach. The airy lobby has a serene vibe with earth tones and a minimalist style. Guests, who tend to be couples or vacationing families, can relax on low-lying wooden couches with pale gray, green, and beige cushions, and rest their feet on rattan ottomans. An interesting tiered light fixture hangs in the middle of the space, while beautiful tan tile floors flow throughout, accented with large pottery and an enormous wood table. Wood and metal stools, along with magnificent stone create the lobby bar, which has lots of chairs and tables.
A contemporary, cool style defines the Mozzarella Restaurant & Bar, combining marble, wood, and dark granite indoors, and pool-view seating outside. The Visala Spa is similarly decorated with gray stone, wood furniture, and tan tile, along with a charming fountain of stone pottery, and pops of blue and purple textiles. The grounds are somewhat limited in size, though the balconies surrounding the pool are dripping with bright green vines

Sun Island Hotel & Spa - Legian is a constant buzz of activity that just gets more amped up as the night goes on, and the Sun Island Hotel is situated right in the middle of the fray. This is either a good or bad thing, depending on what travelers are looking for, though for those staying at Sun Island, this seems to be a blessing. Given its location, the hotel offers a solid value, especially considering how modern and fresh it is. The lobby is stylish and contemporary, with beautiful ironwood timber details and art installations hanging from the ceilings. It's details like the living green walls located throughout the lobby that help set this hotel apart from the competition, though features like two pools, a large spa, and trendy restaurant also help.
One of the major features here is Topix Asia Bar and Restaurant, which has three distinct spaces, including the open-air street-side section that's always bustling with travelers staying at the hotel and elsewhere in Legian. Families do occasionally stay at the Sun Island, but the hotel predominantly caters to young couples, single travelers, and groups of friends. It can be loud, given the younger clientele and their party-hard agendas.

The ONE Legian opened in 2011 as The 101, and added a few facilities plus another wing of rooms in 2016, renaming itself The ONE. Public interiors feature a chic urban look and atmosphere that's appropriate for the lively goings on at this central Legian hotel. The open-air lobby is an appealing space with striated wood ceilings, yellow-and-white and red-and-white striped sofas, and striped floors, an aesthetic that carries over to the restaurant, which incorporates the few Balinese accents you'll see at this hotel as well. This isn't the kind of place for those seeking quiet relaxation, and the action tends to happen around the fourth-floor Sky Pool, featuring great views of the surrounding area from its deck. Raucous parties with DJs are held several times a week, though those seeking a calmer place to cool off may want to head to the ground-level Romeo Pool instead.
The ONE is very much targeted to a style-conscious, social demographic that's heavy on young Australians drawn to the rooftop pool, party-centric vibe, and relatively affordable rooms. With its location not far from the beach, the hotel also draws quite a few surfers.

Statues and flowering vines lead to the Alam KulKul Boutique Resort, a traditional and homey Balinese hotel dominated by gray stone and hardwood. Authentic Balinese music plays in the classic, spacious lobby, where carved wood ceilings and landscape murals stand out amongst earth-toned furniture.
The resort's two Balinese-style restaurants feature wonderful beach views and have open-air design with outdoor wicker seating areas. Bright art accents soft couches in the exclusive AlamClub, which is only open to certain hotel guests, while the garden surrounding the property stuns, with fountains, statues, and trees. Guests are mostly Australian couples and families looking for a quiet stay in an excellent location.

Lokha Legian is a simple and small hotel that features a combination of Balinese aesthetics and reasonably modern stylings. The atmosphere is laid back and family friendly. The spacious main pool is in the middle of the compound and is surrounded by flowering frangipani trees. During our visit, it was often packed with kids playing in the shallow kiddie pool and adults sipping cocktails at the swim-up bar. The hotel's entrance is lined with long green vines and carved stone statues with brightly colored decorative umbrellas, while the Balinese touches extend inside as well (check the wood carvings and stone details in the lobby for proof).
Decor in the restaurants is generically modern, though the interiors are starting to look a little less than fresh. Overall, this is a relatively well-liked place for travelers looking to be within striking distance of the beach who don't prize style over substance.

Anantara Vacation Club - Seaside Suites Bali is situated across a narrow road from Double Six Beach, but despite its location near all of the trappings of Legian and Seminyak, it's tranquil throughout the day. The style throughout the hotel is pleasant and modern, including an open-air lobby with ample natural light, Balinese art, floral-print sofas, and an adjacent koi pond with wall of vines. While the Seaside is situated on tropical grounds that are typical of hotels in the area, it's not quite as roomy or lush as we've seen elsewhere. Still, the outdoor pool at the center of the property is an attractive spot, with one side bordered by trees, shrubs, and frangipani blooms.
At 25 meters (82 feet) long the pool is plenty large, and the deck is big enough so that all guests can find a sunbed. The indoor open-air restaurant and bar are another popular gathering spot. This space offers better views of the beach and sunset than many Legian hotels, since the view is largely unobstructed by trees. Despite the lack of kid-friendly activities, the hotel has large studios and suites that appeal to families and groups, though plenty of couples make their way here as well.
