Lijiang is quite cold in the morning and evening, and while walking, I noticed that many guesthouses have walls that are not thick enough. There are also many complaints about the underfloor heating/central heating not being adequate. It's better to stay somewhere warmer.
The ancient town of Lijiang is highly commercialized, with photo shoots, restaurants, car rentals, trips to the snow mountain, Lashi Lake, etc. At every spot, someone will try to sell you various packages, don't believe any of it! Everything is most reliable through official channels. I personally think there's no need to join a tour group or rent a car, as the taxi fares are not that high.
