Longxing Temple, the place where Saichō, the founder of the Tendai sect, was ordained.
Longxing Temple is where Tang Dynasty monk Jianzhen resided, where Saichō, the founder of the Japanese Tendai sect, was ordained, and the birthplace of Japanese tea ceremony.
The architecture has a strong Tang Dynasty style. Passing through the Shanmen Hall, there is a bridge and pond surrounded by exquisite stone railings. In front of the Mahavira Hall is a large cauldron, and behind it, the half-body of a pagoda is visible, immediately evoking a strong Buddhist atmosphere. The temple is peaceful, bright, and has an extraordinary aura. Monks are doing their work, and this is the venue for the FJ event in Linhai City.
Longxing Temple was built in the first year of the Shenlong era (705) of the Tang Dynasty and was originally named "Shenlong Temple." In the third year of the Tianbao era (744) of the Tang Dynasty, Jianzhen stayed here during his fourth voyage to Japan. His disciple Sito was a high monk at the temple at the time and later accompanied Jianzhen on his voyage to Japan.

The filming location of Black Myth: Wukong is Yuncheng, this guide is worth collecting
✅️Yesterday, I shared with everyone Jincheng, Shanxi, which became popular due to Black Myth: Wukong. But actually, Yuncheng in southern Shanxi is also promoting itself similarly and has now successfully gained attention thanks to Black Myth. If you look up information, you will find that Yuncheng has 102 national key cultural relics protection units, ranking first among prefecture-level cities in the country, surpassing the second place Zhengzhou by more than 20. It is evident how rich Yuncheng is in national cultural relics, and it is not an exaggeration to call it the city with the most cultural relics protection in Shanxi.
🚌If you are visiting Yuncheng for the first time, it is naturally impossible to visit all the sites. I personally highly recommend following the route I suggest, which can be mostly traveled by public transportation.
⛰️Route suggestions:
✅️Route 1: Urban Route (Jiezhou Guandi Temple--Changping Guandi Family Temple--Yuncheng Museum)
This route is not far from the city center and can be visited by bus. You can visit three places in one day with plenty of time. However, the bus frequency to Changping Guandi Family Temple is relatively low, so be sure to plan your time well.
1- Jiezhou Guandi Temple:
You can take bus No. 11 or No. 21 from the city center to the entrance of the scenic spot. Bus No. 21 has fewer trips, so I recommend taking No. 11.
Jiezhou Guandi Temple is known as the 'ancestor of Guandi temples' and 'the crown of martial temples.' It is large in scale and has many highlights. The first is the Jieyi Archway, a Ming Dynasty building and the most magnificent archway of the Guandi Temple; the second is the Four Dragon Wall in front of the Duan Gate, a glazed screen wall made in the Ming Dynasty;
The third is the Imperial Book Tower, originally named 'Bagua Tower,' which has a plaque inscribed by Emperor Qianlong and an octagonal caisson worth seeing inside; the fourth is the Chongning Hall, where you can see the handwritten works of three emperors: Qianlong, Xianfeng, and Kangxi; the fifth is the Chunqiu Tower, where the second-floor shrine houses a statue of Guan Yu reading the 'Spring and Autumn Annals' at night and a 'chrysanthemum caisson.'
✅️2- Changping Guandi Family Temple
From Jiezhou Guandi Temple, you can take bus No. 21 to Zhongyi Street Station and then walk there. Compared to Jiezhou Guandi Temple, I prefer the original atmosphere here, where mostly locals visit.
Changping Guandi Family Temple also has many highlights. The first is a stone archway with four pillars and three openings, a relic from the Ming Dynasty; the second is an octagonal seven-story brick pagoda on the east side of the mountain gate and the ceremonial gate, originally built in the Eastern Han Dynasty and rebuilt during the Jin Dading period; the third is the Niangniang Hall, which houses a rare colored statue of Lady Guan.
✅️3- Yuncheng Museum
After visiting the Guandi Family Temple, you can take bus No. 21 to Nanchengqiang Street Station and transfer to bus No. 88 to the Museum Station. Yuncheng Museum is a national first-class museum. Although the collection is not large, there are many exquisite cultural relics worth seeing.
Pay special attention to these relics: jade tooth wall, Fahua human figure cloud dragon vase, beast face nipple pattern square ding, gilded Buddha standing statue, Xue Jing tomb stone coffin, and the restored murals of the Chaoyuan Tu from Yongle Palace.
✅️Route 2: Ruicheng Route (Yongle Palace--Guangren King Temple--Ruicheng Shousheng Temple Pagoda--Ruicheng Museum--Ruicheng City God Temple)
From Yuncheng City Ruitong Bus Terminal, take bus No. 109 to Ruicheng Bus Terminal, then walk to Yongle Palace. After visiting Yongle Palace, walk to Guangren King Temple. After finishing, you can return to Yongle Palace and then ride a shared electric bike to visit other ancient sites.
✅️Yongle Palace: This is the filming location of Black Myth: Wukong, with many highlights. The first is the three main halls, which are wooden structures from the Yuan Dynasty; the second is the murals inside the three main halls, which are the most exquisite Yuan Dynasty murals in China, especially the Chaoyuan Tu, which is extremely exquisite.
✅️Guangren King Temple: This is the second oldest existing wooden structure in China, slightly younger than the Nanchan Temple. It is not large in scale but has few tourists.
✅️Ruicheng Shousheng Temple Pagoda: A very niche ancient site, but the pagoda from the Song Dynasty is a national key cultural relic protection unit. Unfortunately, the interior of the pagoda is not open, so you cannot see the murals inside.
✅️Ruicheng Museum: A very small museum with few collections, but the exquisite ritual vessels and ornaments are worth seeing.
✅️Ruicheng City God Temple: A niche but not simple ancient architectural complex, gathering wooden structures from the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties. The Yuan Dynasty Xiang Pavilion, the Ming Dynasty Xian Hall, the Song Dynasty main hall, and the Qing Dynasty sleeping palace.
✅️Route 3: Wanrong-Jishan Route (Li Family Courtyard--Houtu Temple--Dongyue Temple Feiyun Tower--Wanrong Jiwang Temple--Jishan Jiwang Temple--Macun Brick Carving Tomb--Qinglong Temple)
If you want to visit this route faster, I recommend renting a car or driving yourself. If using public transportation, it is recommended to spend 3-4 days slowly exploring. In the Wanrong route, you can use the newly launched city tour pass in Yuncheng (route: Shundi Mausoleum, Li Family Courtyard, Houtu Temple, Feiyun Tower) to complete the tour.
There are many highlights on this route. The Li Family Courtyard is one of the representative courtyards of Shanxi merchants; the Qiufeng Tower of Houtu Temple and Feiyun Tower of Dongyue Temple are among the most beautiful pavilions in Shanxi;
✅️Wanrong Jiwang Temple is the only existing Song Dynasty building with a hip-and-gable roof in China; in Jishan Jiwang Temple, you can see ancient agricultural wood carvings; in Macun Brick Carving Tomb, you can see unique opera brick carvings; Qinglong Temple preserves stunning Yuan and Ming Dynasty water and land murals.
✅️There are so many places worth visiting in Yuncheng, and many are relatively remote. Friends with time can also explore other routes:
1- Xinjiang Route: Confucian Temple-Longxing Temple-Catholic Church-Jiang Shouju Garden Pool-Jiangzhou Hall-Jiangzhou Three Towers-Three Officials Temple
2- Jiang County: Taiyin Temple-Nanfan Stone Archway-Jiang County Confucian Temple.

The Longxing Temple in Linhai, Zhejiang: A Museum Learning and Mystical Journey to the Yin-Yang Pagodas
In the Longxing Temple of Linhai, Zhejiang, I embarked on a journey of spiritual exploration. First, I arrived at the museum, 🏛️📚 where I learned a lot about Buddhism and historical culture, feeling the charm of history and the depth of culture.
👣🌳 Wandering through the Longxing Temple, I felt tranquility and harmony. Every scene filled me with awe, as if I was conversing with the ancients and resonating with nature. 🌲🍃 Here, I found inner peace and gained a deeper understanding of life.
🕯️🙏 At Longxing Temple, I was fortunate to encounter a 21-day continuous Dharma assembly from the first to the twenty-first day after Qingming. The sound of the monks' chanting echoed in the air, purifying the soul. Here, I felt the power of religion and gained a new understanding of life.
🗼🌌 Finally, I came before two pagodas, one protruding and the other concave, also known as the Yin-Yang Pagodas. These two pagodas symbolize the balance of yin and yang in the universe, inspiring endless musings on the mysteries of life. 🌙🌟 Here, I experienced the harmonious coexistence of nature and culture, and gained a deeper understanding of the world.
To sum up my trip to the Longxing Temple in Linhai, Zhejiang, I gained knowledge, insights, and a spiritual cleansing. This place is a nourishing haven for the soul, worth visiting by everyone. 🧡🌠

Jinshan Pagoda Group and the intoxicating Donghu Qian Garden
5A Jinshan Pagoda Group Donghu Qian Garden
First,
Coming down from Beigushan, walking along Culture Road is not far from Ziyang Old Street, similar to the early imitation of the old street, a bit boring. I glanced at the Prefecture City Confucian Temple, a provincial protection. I directly came to the pedestrian street of Chicheng at the foot of Jinshan for lunch. This is a tourist distribution center. The 5A-level square is a must. The bright stalls and modern street restaurants are all eye-catching.
Of course, the most eye-catching are the Thousand Buddha Pagoda at the foot of the mountain and the Wenfeng Pagoda on the top of the mountain. The three pagodas were all built in the Tang Dynasty. The Thousand Buddha Pagoda is in Longxing Temple. The temple was destroyed during the Anti-Japanese War, but the pagoda survived and is now a national protection. The two Wenfeng Pagodas were rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty and are now provincial protections. The mountain is not high and easy to climb, but it seems to be of little significance.
Second,
Coming down from the mountain and heading straight to Donghu, I was a bit overjoyed. This seems to cleverly integrate the pavilions of Suzhou gardens with the lake and mountain scenery of West Lake. The lake is not big, but the density of attractions is very large, which is dazzling.
The "Lake Heart Pavilion" on the island in the lake was built in the Qing Dynasty. The pavilion has three floors, with eight flying eaves, high vases and flowing tiles, and the corners are dripping with green. The winding Nine-Curved Bridge was built by Qing Zhifu Liu Ao.
The "Qiaoyun Pavilion" in the center of the lake on the front lake moon dike was built in the Ming Dynasty. On the left side of Qiaoyun Pavilion, a Northern Song Dynasty Moon-watching Bridge spans the two banks, and the bridge is hollowed out with various flower and bird totems.
The "Qihua Pavilion" in the back lake was built in the Ming Dynasty. It has two floors. The yellow walls and purple eaves are reflected in the lake.
In fact, in the Song Dynasty, Donghu was already "flat waves a few acres in front of ten thousand peaks, a piece of Danqing can't be fully painted. The secluded pavilions and small bridges cross the green water, and the dense forests and tall bamboos lock the light smoke. The gorgeous silk strings and pipes chase the joyous land, and the snow, moon, wind and flowers are drunk in the sky..."
And in the Qing Dynasty, "Hangzhou has West Lake, Taizhou has Donghu, and the victory of Donghu is a small West Lake."
Third,
In the southeast corner of Donghu, there is also a large house Rongxing Hall, also called Qian Garden. It was built to commemorate the descendants of Qian Wang of Linhai and the governor of Taizhou Qian Xuan who expanded the Donghu Garden. Qian Wang, also known as Qian Lü (852-932), a native of Lin'an, was the king of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms of Wuyue. It is said that the richness of Suzhou and Hangzhou, "there is heaven above, and Suzhou and Hangzhou below", was laid during Qian Lü's rule. Tang Zhaozong gave him an iron ticket in the third year of Qianning (896), forgiving him for his nine deaths. A Qian Gong Temple was built in Lin'an during the Song Dynasty.
During the Southern Song Dynasty, a branch of the Qian family came to Linhai. There were as many as 9 people including Qian Xuan who knew the governor of Taizhou during the Song Dynasty. Qian Xuan's son Qian Jingzhen was the son-in-law of Song Renzong. In the fourth year of Shaoxing, Song Gaozong Zhao Gou gave the Grand Princess a house in Meidefang, Linhai, and personally inscribed the four characters "Home of Loyalty and Filial Piety". Among the famous people of the Qian family, including Qian Chen, Qian Miao, Qian Duanli, Qian Xiangzu, etc., they all lived in Linhai.
In addition to the "golden book iron ticket", what protects the Qian family from generation to generation is their "Qian Family Instructions". "Reading the classics and the roots are deep, looking at the history and the discussions are great. If you can write articles, you will have a lot of descriptions, and if you have morality, you will have a lot of blessings."
Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty also admired his family's way of educating children. During his southern tour, he gave the plaque "Qingfen Shishou".
Taizhou is really worth a visit

TravelLinhai Prefecture City, looking for Chinese red
Set a theme 'Finding the Chinese Red for the New Year'.
It was gloomy and raining, I arrived early in the morning at the Yingshan Gate of Taizhou Prefecture City. The square in front of Weng City was setting up a red New Year's charity event. The city gate was pasted with a big 'Xi', the streets and alleys were decorated with red ribbons, and most of the shops were decorated with traditional blessings. Inside the Yingshan Gate, at the foot of the towel mountain, the chanting of scriptures and Sanskrit sounds were heard. Following the sound, the horizontal layout of the mountain gate building was atmospheric, showing the style of the Tang Dynasty. The three words 'Longxing Temple' came into view. The temple space is expansive, the heaven and earth are harmonious, and it is where the heart belongs.
Longxing Temple: It was first built in the first year of Shenlong (705 AD), originally named 'Shenlong Temple'. It is now being rebuilt, and behind the Daxiong Treasure Hall is the Tang Dynasty Thousand Buddha Pagoda. Longxing Temple once promoted the Tiantai sect of Buddhism, and Master Jianzhen once lived here. The high monk Si Tuo of Longxing Temple also followed Master Jianzhen 'through six crossings, over twelve years'.
As the Jia Chen Dragon Year is approaching, I happened to encounter the ancient Shenlong Temple here, wishing good luck and blessings. 🧧
Ziyang Street: The street name is derived from Ziyang Zhenren Zhang Boudan, the first ancestor of the southern sect of Taoism, who realized the truth. The street is very long, spanning several streets from north to south. The scale and texture of the streets and alleys are preserved, most of them are shops in front and residences in the back, there are businesses, and there are also original residents left behind, full of life. The incoming shops are innovative and novel. The traditional shops have old tastes and old memories.
🌺The plum blossoms at the foot of the towel mountain are blooming.
