Disappointed by the ancient city of Luanzhou, where is the charm of the past when the fireworks are gone?
It is rumored that there is a place called the ancient city of Luanzhou in the world of rivers and lakes, its name so mystical that it inspires longing. The rumors speak of its ancient charm and long history, making it an excellent place to explore the past. However, only when one visits in person does one realize how deep the pitfalls of ancient cities can be, with Luanzhou's being particularly profound!
The true historical sites here are but three: a city tower that might still evoke a sense of the past; a pagoda that seems to narrate a millennium of vicissitudes; and a river, whose flowing waters whisper the stories of yore. Beyond these, there is an endless commercial street. On this street, snack stalls are everywhere, yet they are all the same, with stinky tofu, large squid—aren't these common snacks found everywhere? Is there anything that truly speaks of Luanzhou's unique flavor?
One would think that as night falls and the lights dim along the river, a captivating nightscape would emerge. But unexpectedly, the riverbanks have become the realm of barbecues and night markets, with smoke swirling and cooking fumes covering the stars. The so-called local-flavor DJs are incessantly noisy, deafening, accompanied by groups of drunken revelers, their howls echoing. Those wishing to quietly enjoy the night by the river are incessantly bothered by the night market stalls, leaving one speechless and sighing with regret.
We wander the world seeking a pure land to experience the charm of ancient cities, but the trip to Luanzhou is undoubtedly a journey of disappointment. Unless one harbors a desire for barbecue and drinks, there is really no need to set foot in this place.
However, the problems of Luanzhou are not unique. Across the world, many ancient cities, for the sake of petty profits, unscrupulously develop commerce, causing the historical and cultural atmosphere to gradually fade, and the charm of the ancient city to vanish. Visitors walking through them see only shops everywhere, but struggle to find a trace of ancient charm.
Some believe that the development of ancient cities should prioritize protection and heritage. Only by remembering their roots can the charm of ancient cities remain forever, attracting visitors from all directions to linger and not want to leave. Alas! The ancient cities of the world should cherish and respect themselves, lest future generations lament outside the invisible walls.

The Spring Festival holiday in Luanzhou Ancient City
Luanzhou Ancient City is a place lively enough yet not too crowded for comfort. The ancient city is designed in the style of the Ming and Qing dynasties, with a main street serving as a marketplace. Additionally, two parallel streets are home to restaurants and inns, somewhat reminiscent of the design pattern of Gubei Water Town in Beijing, which separates the bustling areas from the quieter ones.
LEILA MAY
Tangshan, Hebei—Luanzhou Ancient City
This ancient city has always been a place I long to visit, and today I just happen to pass by here on a business trip.
I came here with a fulfilled wish and a happy mood.
Transportation: Luanzhou has 2 train stations. Luanxian Station is located in the county, leaning towards the green-skinned trains.
Luanhe Station is 18 kilometers north of the county, and whether you take the high-speed train depends on where you're coming from and how you're getting here.
The ancient city of Luanzhou is shaped like a horizontal rectangle, like a pencil case; you can enter from either the West Gate or the East Gate (the East Gate has a city tower). It gets busier as you walk from the quiet outskirts to the center.
In the middle, there is a 'Marriage Tower' where you can go to the second floor for 10 yuan to pray for a romantic connection.
Next to it is a pagoda where everyone takes photos. Tickets to climb to the top are 20 yuan, but there is no elevator, so you have to climb the stairs yourself.
That's why I didn't go up, and I've been to Caozhou Ancient City, which has a similar pagoda but with an elevator. If anyone has been up there, leave a photo to make me envious.
The night view for photo ops is quite beautiful.
Inside, there are ancient costume rentals and lanterns, full of festive atmosphere, probably because it's the off-season, the river channel isn't much.
Both sides are the commercialized businesses we're familiar with. It's no surprise to see commercialization, but what's interesting is the loudspeakers of the vendors on both sides.
They were so loud that my ears were buzzing and my head was swelling. It's funny how competitive they are, haha, 'My family's stinky tofu is the most authentic, please recognize and open your eyes,' and the like.
Accommodation: I stayed at the Yunsang Yue Guesthouse in the ancient city. Because it's the off-season, it's not over a hundred yuan, and the environment is okay. I do wish there was a bunch of young people in the lobby to sit and chat over food and drinks~~~

2024 Luanzhou Ancient City Electronic Music Festival
👍🏻 The Luanzhou Ancient City Electronic Music Festival was awesome, it would have been better if the performance time was longer, left me wanting more.
🌈 There's one last day of the festival, and the traffic is crazy! Don't even think about the food, it's not good! If you want to buy something, get some chess piece-shaped cookies, they're freshly baked and delicious, also a Tangshan specialty!
⭐ The performance time is from 19:00 to 20:20, featuring DJ and rapper interactions, as well as singers leading a big sing-along!
🌸 Overall, the stage aesthetics could be better, the lighting and background aren't flashy enough!
🔥 Hope it will be even better next year, I'll come again!

The realistic version of the Qingming River map - the ancient city of Luzhou
Luzhou ancient city is a long history of the ancient city, with China has gone through 3,000 years, walked one after another spring, summer, autumn and winter, and accumulated in the years In it, it emits endless light. It is a pity that the Tangshan earthquake has destroyed this place. The remains of the ancient city are now being rebuilt.
Entering the ancient city, it is very quiet. At first glance, it is the layout of the royal style. A Qinglong River divides the ancient city of Zhangzhou into two sides. There are many restaurants on the riverside trail, and the bar, Qinglonghe Bar Street is Zhangzhou. The ancient city is best for a place to be in a daze. In this street, you can find ethnic-style bars, tea bars, pottery bars, and cafes.
At night, the ancient city of Luzhou is the most beautiful. The red lanterns are high and tall, and the night is beautiful. This historic city has many places to visit. There are 9 light commercial streets, snack barbecue street. , Marriage and Customs Street, Folk Culture Street, Temple Fair Culture Street, Korean Style Cultural Street, Myanmar Jade Street, large dining street, youth cultural and entrepreneurial street, etc.
Zijin Tower The Zijin Tower is the tallest building in the ancient city of Luzhou. It is also a Buddhist shrine. Business people from the ancient city of Luzhou will come to invite a Buddha as a protector and worship on the tower.
The most romantic is the boating on the Qinglong River. In the nighttime of the two sides of the strait, I feel the "millennium of this continent" left by Qianlong.
The food street in the ancient city of Luzhou is also a major feature here, seafood street, snack barbeque area, etc., bringing together the treasures of the four seas: there are Hao Jia Huo, Ai Wei, Ma Ye Shantou, Kidney Bean Noodles, chess pieces, etc., we are looking for a family, they are very delicious.
Morphie.
In detail, the ancient city of Zhangzhou has a thousand-year history, but today the ancient city we visited is similar to the Taierzhuang that I have been to. It was rebuilt from the original site, with the architectural style of Shengqing as the keynote, the tall city. After the gate, there are wide streets, the Temple of Literature, the Wu Temple, the Qimen Gate, and the Guanting Pavilion. The shops are lined up, and the tourists are woven, but it also reproduces the prosperous style of Zhangzhou in the Liao State.
The towering Zijin Tower is the commanding height of the ancient city. It overlooks the tower and draws a cruise ship to shuttle back and forth in the water system of the city, giving the northern small town quite a bit of view of the Jiangnan water town. On both sides of the river, there are dense businesses, crayfish, big skewers, carbon-roasted leg of lamb... There is a small wind and a string of gods on the riverside, but it is a good place for leisure.
