Shanghai - Madame Tussauds
Shanghai is hands down one of my favorite cities in China. There are so many things to see and this wax museum was pretty cool!
Everything was in both Chinese and English which was very nice.
I didn’t know most Chinese celebrities so it was also interesting to learn about them!
It is definitely quite expensive (190¥).
The tour takes about an hour but it is quite fun!
There’s the Van Gogh art gallery near by so I’d recommend you do visit both galleries. 😊

Madame Tussauds Shanghai
Having been to Shanghai on a number of occasions and having seen many of the sights already, we decided to give Madame Tussauds a try. This was not something either of us had thought we'd enjoy very much but in the spirit of trying new things we gave it a go.
The exhibitions are varied and you can see sculptures of celebrities (sports people, actors, singers, royalty and presenters) both from the past and from today and from all over the globe!
If you're feeling a little silly, there are many opportunities to take a more interactive approach to the exhibition by putting on some of the clothing or accessories.
There are places inside to have a seat and a drink but obviously a little overpriced.
I went to Madame Tussauds almost four years ago. I went today and found that many new stars have been added, many of which I don't know. 🤗
Many sought-after wax figures have been stopped now, and the wax museum has taken the best place to put cameras to help you take pictures for free. Of course the photos need to be bought.
Hu Ge's Mei Changsu, Huo Jianhua and Hepburn are all the same. The most advanced is AI technology, which can be taken with Zhang Yixing!
How can you not visit Madame Tussauds when in Shanghai?
How can you not visit Madame Tussauds when in Shanghai?! To have a romantic close encounter with your favorite stars, would you really want to miss such a great opportunity?
The 'new star member' who arrived at Madame Tussauds on March 26th, Hu Yitian, is a male god I quite fancy. This 'rising star' is exhibited in the Modern Corridor of the E-Fashion area, which represents China's new fashion force. Don't go to the wrong place if you want to check in, and there are lots of surprises and activities to experience on site~

Madame Tussauds Shanghai: A Star-Studded Interactive Experience, Crowded but Scenic.
Madame Tussauds Shanghai is divided into seven themed exhibition areas: 'Behind the Scenes', 'Charm of Shanghai', 'Historical Figures and National Leaders', 'Movies', 'Music', 'Sports', and 'Speed'. Visitors can not only take intimate photos with over 80 incredibly lifelike wax figures of Chinese and international celebrities, but they can also engage in interactive experiences such as singing with 'stars', making movies, and playing basketball. The place is quite crowded, but it's really quite beautiful and lifelike. This is the British Royal Family themed hall, where there are also gowns available for visitors to wear for photo-taking. The stool in the middle is for people to sit on and take pictures. There are wax figures of Yang Zhenning, Einstein, and others, but the space is a bit small and it's really crowded.

Must-Visit in Magic City | Madame Tussauds Shanghai Wax Museum
Madame Tussaud: 1761-1850, French, born Marie Grosholtz, founder of Madame Tussauds Wax Museum.
There are many celebrity wax figures, including actors (Jackie Chan, Yang Mi, Tang Yan, Gong Jun, Jiang Shuying, Yang Yang, Ma Sichun, Zhao Youting, Bruce Lee, Donnie Yen, Wallace Huo, Audrey Hepburn, etc.), singers (Teresa Teng, S.H.E, Xue Zhiqian, Jam Hsiao, Han Geng, TFBoys, Luo Tianyi, etc.), athletes (Lin Dan, Liu Xiang, Zou Shiming, Guo Jingjing, Yao Ming, etc.), astronaut Yang Liwei, scientist Einstein, Apple's Steve Jobs, and U.S. Presidents Obama, Trump, British royalty Queen Elizabeth II, Duchess Kate, Prince William, etc.
There are many interactive scenes where you can dress up and take photos, such as wearing a Qing dynasty yellow robe to pose with Fourth Master and Yuanyuan (from 'Scarlet Heart' and 'The Legend of Zhen Huan'), wearing a pink cape and leaning on Mei Changsu (from 'Nirvana in Fire'), entering the world of 'Monster Hunt', dressing up in shiny clothes to accompany Xue Zhiqian, live streaming with Li Yuchun, or becoming a guest of the British royal family, walking on the Victoria's Secret runway, and more.
There are many interactive games, including a 'The Lost Tomb' theme where you can open a coffin by finding mechanisms, use a flashlight to find text passwords on the walls, and experience the joy of an escape room. I really like the Guan Xiaotong music box; when you press the button, the Guan Xiaotong wax figure will rotate automatically.
There is a separate Marvel exhibition that requires an additional ticket, where you can watch a 4D movie of about 9 minutes, play several interactive games, and trigger sound effects by standing next to the wax figures to immerse yourself in the comic world.

Shanghai Must-Visit: Unveiling the New Area of Madame Tussauds~
It's been several years since my last visit to Madame Tussauds! I heard that a new area has recently opened, and there's a new wax figure of my cousin Liu Wen haha, I must go and check it out~
Liu Wen's wax figure is in the Light and Shadow Fashion Zone! This area is currently in a preview phase. I asked the staff, and they said you can get a sneak peek of the new Light and Shadow Fashion Zone by taking a photo booth picture on the first floor, customizing a VIP invitation in the Technology Pioneers Zone, or becoming a 'Bronze Magician'.
My cousin Liu Wen's head is so small, and her body proportions are perfect, no wonder she's a supermodel! You can take fashion photos with Liu Wen's wax figure, and there's a little surprise under the runway~ The light and shadow buildings in the runway background are also stunning~ There's also a huge ELLE cover wall here, I feel like I've become an ELLE model~
In the Technology Pioneers Zone, you can listen to Steve Jobs' story. Remember to customize your ticket at the entrance, the 'Future' time-space train is full of technology~ Then take a photo with Yang Liwei's wax figure, it's as if you're watching a rocket launch together, it's so cool! Madame Tussauds Shanghai | Interact and take photos with celebrities, the wax figures are meticulously crafted
Madame Tussauds Shanghai is located on the tenth floor of New World City on West Nanjing Road in Huangpu District. Visitors can interact closely with over 80 lifelike Chinese and foreign celebrities, and can also join in singing with the 'stars', filming movies, playing basketball and other interactive experiences.
Wax figures are a kind of super-realistic sculpture art known as 'three-dimensional photography', which is closer to the original character than general sculptures, originating from Madame Tussauds in the UK.
Madame Tussauds was born in 1761 and was a distinguished artist in France, famous for making wax figures. She learned the craft of making wax figures from a doctor since she was a child. The wax figure of French writer Voltaire is her masterpiece. Initially, her mother worked as a housekeeper for Dr. Philippe Curtius, a wax figure maker, during which Curtius taught her the craft of wax sculpting.
Compared to many other wax museums, the good thing about Madame Tussauds Shanghai is that the wax figures are not covered with glass or blocked with isolation belts, allowing you to interact closely at will.
Making wax figures is a very complex task. To make the wax figures lifelike and realistic, every step of the production process must be meticulously crafted. After measuring the celebrities, the artists will bring these precious data back to the wax figure factory at the London headquarters, where another 'celebrity' can be created.
In making wax figures, sculptors use materials such as clay, plaster, and hot wax. The initial creation of the torso requires the support of a metal skeleton, which is later replaced by fiberglass. The coloring of the eyes, hair, and skin is a very meticulous job. The making of teeth is even more advanced, with molding and coloring, it's almost like making a set of dentures for the celebrity.

Taking photos with all kinds of celebrities non-stop throughout the journey,
The wax figures of the stars are lifelike,
What surprised me more are the various high-tech 2.0 version wax figures added to the museum,
I just can't put them down~
💗Especially DOKIDOKI Zhu Yilong! As the first heartbeat wax figure in mainland China
When you get close to Zhu Yilong, you can hear the heartbeat in his chest
For a moment, I can't tell if it's his heartbeat or the sound of my own heart fluttering~
❤️And Guan Xiaotong's wax figure is actually a music box, which can dance when rotated, it's so beautiful!
💙Of course, my favorite is still Hu Ge's wax figure~ I was deeply regretful when I heard that Hu Ge went to our school for further study and became my junior, but this time I can take crazy photos with him haha! I can try all kinds of poses and styles~ I can do both ancient and modern! I don't care~
The most considerate thing is that you can find props and costumes around the wax figures to change, which can better interact with them and take photos~ It's so much fun to be part of it~
Remember to bring your power bank and spare batteries, girls,
The venue is really a great place for taking photos,
My camera ran out of power before I had enough fun!
I spent the whole afternoon happily posing haha
❕You can also explore the classic scenes of Tomb Notes in the museum~ If you are timid, take the fast track~ If you are brave, don't miss the realistic reproduction of the real scene shooting~
❣️There is also a small easter egg, there is also a wax figure of Nanpai Sanshu~
💛Fans of Luo Tianyi can also perform on the same stage with Luo Tianyi~ Use the AR interactive device to dance together~ It's super fun!

Meeting Celebs!
I do think this has been the highlight of my trip to Shanghai. It was not planned in my itinerary initially, as I was totally unaware this was here. Once I found out, I made the arrangements to find the location and get there. It was fun taking pictures with the wax statues and also with my mother. I would recommend that people with children visit the Marvel Exhibit. There are a lot of interactive games to play, and a 4D Marvel feature at the end.
Shanghai
was my first time in wax museum and it was much more fun than I expected! Some of wax persons were famous only in China so for foreigners it is better to take some local friend to help you understand who you are taking photo with. #passionpassport
