Tropical paradise, southern secret land ~ Xishuangbanna
Xishuangbanna is the home of the Dai people. Due to its proximity to Buddhist countries such as Laos and Myanmar, Theravada Buddhism has deeply rooted here, and the Dai people are basically devout Buddhists. This green fairyland located at the southern end of China is a poetic boundary of the tropical rainforest. In addition to vast forests and numerous rare animals, it also hides ancient Dai culture and traditions. When you come to this land, you will be attracted by the deep integration of nature and historical culture. Whether it's exploring the rainforest, enjoying the scenery of the Mekong River, or experiencing the lifestyle of the Dai people, Xishuangbanna will create an unforgettable exploration journey for you. If you yearn for close contact with nature and experience the charm of exotic cultures, then Xishuangbanna is your ideal place. 1. Where to go first when you come to Xishuangbanna for the first time? ① Fly directly to Xishuangbanna, the airport is convenient and fast to the city, but there are few flights and the ticket prices are more expensive. ② Go to Kunming Changshui International Airport first, and then transfer from Kunming to Xishuangbanna. There are many routes and there are flights every day. And the transfer ticket is more than half cheaper than the direct flight. 2 Where is it convenient to stay when you come to Banna for the first time? ①. Gaozhuang Xishuangjing: Convenient transportation, there are many direct buses to the scenic area here, the accommodation price is affordable, there are many delicious foods nearby, and you can go to the nearby night market at night to eat and stroll~ (recommended) ②. Dadu Holiday Area: Mainly high-end hotels and apartment hotels, the environment is very good, but it is far from the city center ③. Jinghong City Center (near Poshui Square): Located in the city center, the price is moderate, the transportation is convenient, and it is very close to the riverside night market 3. What are the must-visit attractions in Xishuangbanna? ①. Manting Park: The back garden of the ancient Dai royal family. Taking pictures in Dai costumes is very attractive! ②. Wild Elephant Valley: China's only Asian wild elephant; there you can get close to elephants. ④. Primitive Forest Park: Known as the "Peacock Kingdom", there are thousands of peacocks and various wild animals. ⑤. Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences: Located in the tropical forest sea of Mengla County, it is known as the "miniature of the plant kingdom". Walking in the garden, breathing slightly damp fresh air, and cleaning your lungs. ⑥. Dai Garden: Dai culture exhibition, here you can experience the most authentic Dai style, and there is also a water-splashing festival. ⑦. Starlight Night Market: Asia's largest night market, there are many delicious foods at night, it is lively, good to stroll, good to eat, good to take pictures! ⑧. Mengle Great Buddha Temple: The ancient royal temple of the Dai people, where you can experience Buddhist culture and participate in water-splashing activities. ⑨. Jinghong Big Golden Pagoda: Near the Starlight Night Market, it is very suitable for taking pictures. It is recommended to go during the day. ⑩. Ancient village - Manzhang Village
Took a didi to the village which is about 30-40 minutes from downtown Jinghong. The fare to get there is well worth it - did pottery and flower pictures and they even can teach you how to do tapestry! Food available on every corner by the locals! Probably our best day out and great to keep children occupied!

Visit the Dragons of Manzhang Village
#china #yunnan #xishuangbanna
About a 35 minute taxi ride from the night market you can find Manzhang village, a Dai minority historic village with many attractions.
One of my favourite parts of this visit was spitting all the different dragon sculptures as part of the temples.
Go to see traditional Dai performances, buy fresh grown fruit and have a walk around a traditional town.

Xishuangbanna | Visiting Manzhang Village, it truly is the best village in Banna for a stroll with kids
Manzhang Village is indeed a great place for a walk with kids. The village is not very big and is quite commercialized. However, commercialization is not necessarily a bad thing, as almost every household has hands-on experience projects. The small village, which can be walked through in half an hour just by strolling, can provide a long and enjoyable visit when accompanied by children playing along the way. The kids also have a great time!
Experience projects include:
Papermaking, Dai pottery, grinding soy milk, squeezing sugarcane, fishing, cockfighting, etc.
The prices are all about the same, just go with the flow, no need to make it too complicated.
The villagers are simple and the prices are touching. Mangoes are cut on the spot for 10 yuan per box, and the fruit smoothies are also made on the spot with real fruit.
The number one roast chicken lives up to its reputation and is really delicious. The grilled ribs, wild vegetable soup, and sticky rice ordered together are also tasty, recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The location is easy to find, right at the first house at the entrance of the village.
📝Travel tips:
1. Tickets: The village is free to visit, but there is a sanitation fee of 10 yuan for parking.
2. Transportation:
❶ Self-drive or chartered car🚗
❷ High-speed train🚄 to Wild Elephant Valley Station, after getting off, villagers at the station offer rides for 5 yuan directly to the entrance of the village.
3. Manzhang Village and Wild Elephant Valley are on the same route and can be visited in one day.
