Mari Mari Cultural Village - Borneo, Malaysia
Mari Mari Cultural Village is a cultural collection of tribal villages that have lived and still live on the island. In the park, you can immediately see five tribes, walk around their dwellings, get to know their descendants, as well as eat and drink national food and drinks.
Everything here is beautiful, noble, with show elements and fun for children. All guides, attendants and actors are real descendants of the tribes, for them it is an opportunity to find a job and help their families. Many descendants no longer live in such dwellings, they study at universities, go to public works and live in apartments with electricity.

Kota Kinabalu: A charming city with exciting adventures.
Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah, Malaysia, is often referred to as KK. It is home to beautiful scenic spots and hospitable people.
In KK, you can visit many attractions. The Mari Mari Cultural Village allows you to understand the lifestyle of the indigenous people of Sabah; Kokol Hill overlooks the beautiful sea view; Sabah State Museum showcases local history. The Sunday Market on Gaya Street is bustling, and there are characteristic buildings such as the floating mosque. One of the best cultural villages I've ever been to. Our guide created a great group atmosphere, spoke excellent English and was very informative and entertaining. I honestly did not expect such great food at the end. The only recommendation I have is that they should consider having visitor groups spread throughout the whole day. Maybe one every half hour/hour instead of their current practice of having all the visitor groups go at the same time. This caused sometimes unnecessary queues and having to run from one place to another.

Uniquely of Borneo Culture in Mari Mari Cultural Village
A fascinating place to visit. It takes about 3 hours. They will take us to get acquainted with the tribes in Sabah. Besides, we can also learn about their customs and traditions and try their traditional food and games. At the end of the session, there will be food provided.
Excellent experience. It is worth the money (100 MYR per adult) and not too commercial. Good info sharing about local ethnic / original tribes and good exposure (you get to taste lot of their food and similarly experience, for example, trampoline made of rattan). Houses are different for different tribes and well done. The place is also lush green and beautiful.

The Mari Mari Cultural Village is a non-profit organization established in 1996 to preserve and share the ethnic culture of Borneo. The village showcases the customs and traditions of different in Borneo. Our tour operator, Horizon Borneo, had arranged for an English-speaking guide to provide an in-depth explanation during the tour.
Excitement coursed through us as we anticipated discovering more about the daily lives and customs of Borneo’s primary ethnic groups: the Dusun, Lundayeh, Murut, and Bajau.
The entrance to the village featured various traditional symbols and artifacts that reflected the spiritual beliefs of the different ethnic groups in Borneo. After a brief introduction by our guide, we traversed a suspension bridge that connected us to the distinct houses of each tribe.

Psst! Remember to bring sunshade or umbrella as it is quite hot going through the couple hours of tour under hot sun.

In the Mali Mali Cultural Village in Sabah, two deep impressions, one is that I live two worms inside. The second is the staff who can sing and dance. They are both actors and waiters. They are young, can dance, dance, and cook. It is necessary to give visitors a full range of clothing, food and shelter for Malaysian minorities such as Dushun, Longus, Lundaya, Bab, and Maurice.
Old Lake Walker.
Walking into the Mali Mali Cultural Village, you will be able to glimpse the life-like fierce hunter heads of the genius and the life of the Dushun people in the Jiada Mountain. Once in the village, you will pass through the buildings that follow the traditional style of the Aboriginal people of the Mali Mali Cultural Village, including the Long Gus famous longhouses and the spacious Maori residences of the living space, and even step into it. Explore the truth to understand the real situation of their daily routine. In addition to personally experience the taste of bamboo cooking, visitors can also enjoy authentic food flavors and learn the survival skills of Aboriginal people to get fire, hunt and build a house. Communicating with the friendly villagers who come to the cultural village will definitely leave you with deep and very different customs and impressions.

Sabah has more than 30 ethnic groups and more than 80 dialects. It can be said that it is a place where various ethnic cultures are multi-integrated. The first time you come to Sabah, first understand its traditional cultural friends and say that you must go to the Mali Mali Cultural Village. I will see a different Sabah from the beach.
Mali Mali: It means coming, and it means welcome. The
Cultural Village is about half an hour's drive from the city centre. It is situated by a narrow river, passing through a suspension bridge at the entrance, showing the original tribe surrounded by green plants.
Step into the village, the welcoming ceremony of the Maozu people who claim to be the head of the hunter is really horrible. The patriarch will block the entrance with some strong ethnic groups and ask the name and intention of the visitor. You have to agree to enter. This is followed by a simple sacred ghost ceremony. An old woman dressed in a native costume, with a cane on her hand, and a dry grass on the other hand, drove the bad ghosts on the visitors.
After entering the village, you can see the traditional style of the Aboriginal buildings. It is a complete representation of the houses, clothing, food and traditional skills of the five most distinctive Aboriginal tribes in Sabah. Each tribal area has a small doorway with the name of the tribe, and the side is decorated with the characteristics of the tribe. If you are interested, you can step into it and some tribes show the rice wine. Technology, some are learning archery skills, some are using bamboo to get fire, and some are showing how to make clothes with bark. Different customs and people are deeply impressed.
