Mawei Post Station | The place where Yang Guifei died
|The place where Yang Guifei died. In 756 AD, An Lushan's rebel army broke through Tongguan, and Emperor Xuanzong of Tang fled from Chang'an to Shu with Yang Guifei and others. When they arrived at Mawei Post Station, the tragedy of fate was played out. Yang Guozhong was killed by soldiers, and Yang Guifei, at the age of 38, was forced by the soldiers to take a silk ribbon and hang herself on a pear tree. The 72-year-old Emperor Xuanzong of Tang helplessly watched his lover die. The past prosperity was like a dream, and only the yellow earth of Mawei Post Station buried this sad past.
