🍁In November, Chengdu-Daofu-Lhasa is full of autumn vibes. Chengdu is still like spring, while Daofu and Lhasa are already feeling the chill of early winter. Remember to dress in layers and bring more warm clothes;
🚗There is no direct public transportation to the airports in Chengdu, Daofu, and Lhasa. It is recommended to book a car or rent a car in advance, and be careful not to get lost🗺🧭;

Those who know Tibet will never miss the autumn in Nyingchi.
🧐From late September each year, Nyingchi, known as the "Jiangnan of Tibet", enters the golden period of autumn. Yellow, red, purple and other colors, like the strokes of a painter, slowly dye the slopes, forests, rivers, lakes and snow-capped mountains of Nyingchi, making the whole Nyingchi more charming. This visual feast will last until mid-to-late November, and the nearly 50-day "Golden Nyingchi" is really not to be missed!
🎈There are many beautiful places in Nyingchi in autumn and winter:
🌟【Basum Lake】This is a famous sacred lake of Tibetan Buddhism, praised as the "turquoise fallen into the world". There are many attractions in the scenic area, such as Lake Island, Cuozong Temple, Jieba Village, Cuogao Village, Xin Lake, Zhong Lake, etc. Autumn is the best season to watch Basum Lake. The sky is high and the air is refreshing. From the lake bank to the mountain ridge, it is like a palette overturned by nature. The forest is dyed and the environment is quiet.
🌟【Namjagbarwa Peak】This is the most representative and highest peak in Nyingchi. The best places to watch Namjagbarwa Peak are Sejila Mountain Pass and Suosong Village in Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon. The best viewing season is from October to April of the following year. At this time, there is less rainfall, the air is dry, the visibility is high, and you can see its most beautiful appearance, especially when the sun shines on the mountain.
🌟【Midui Glacier】It is the lowest glacier in the world and has been rated as one of the six most beautiful glaciers in China by "China National Geographic". The ancient ice and snow that has been preserved for millions of years, the ice basin and the cliffs are crystal clear, and the long ice tongue emits dark blue light, which is more shocking than imagined. It is most suitable to go in autumn and winter.
🌟【Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon】The Grand Canyon is 504 kilometers long and 6009 meters deep at the deepest point. It is the deepest canyon in the world. In addition to taking a boat to see the canyon landscape in the scenic area, there are many good angles for viewing and photography. It is also a great place to watch Namjagbarwa Peak. Early May and early October are the best seasons for hiking.
🌟【Lulang Forest】It is composed of shrubs in the green mountains on both sides, dense spruce and pine trees, and neat meadows in the middle, known as the "natural oxygen bar".
🌟【Bomi】The autumn in Bomi County is super beautiful, the colorful forest is like fire, and the snow-capped glaciers are dotted in it. The sky and the lake are so blue that people are intoxicated. From September, there will be autumn colors around the Bomi Gang spruce forest. From early October to early November, the autumn colors are the most intense, especially the Bomi section of National Highway 318. The glacier is more charming against the colorful autumn colors on the road.

Midui Glacier at low latitude and low temperature
Nyingchi-Chamdo, Tibet
September 20, 2024
The weather in Bomi is cloudy to overcast with occasional light rain, with a temperature of 13-26°C and an altitude of 3,820 meters, National Highway 318.
The hotel we stayed in last night was a young local Tibetan chain brand hotel "Pingcuo Kangsang" (Tibetan means warm house). As soon as we arrived at the hotel, we received enthusiastic and considerate service from the staff, which made us feel tired from the journey. As an ordinary traveler, I really feel "at home".
Today we drove from Bomi to Basu. There are three construction sites on the 3865-3842 km section of National Highway 318 (Bomi boundary), and half of them are alternately open to traffic. On the way, our car was sandwiched in the military vehicle column and enjoyed the right of way. Even so, it was blocked for about half an hour.
Visit Midui Glacier in the morning (Figure 1).
Midui Glacier is located in Yupu Township, Bomi County. The entrance of the scenic spot is on the side of National Highway 318, which is convenient to enter. After buying a ticket, you can take a scenic bus for nearly 10 minutes and then walk 1,720 meters. The initial section has a long uphill, and the middle and later sections need to climb 282 stone steps to reach the viewing platform at the deepest part of the scenic spot (Figure 2, 3,820 meters above sea level).
Midui Glacier is a typical representative of marine glaciers in southeastern Tibet. The main peak of the glacier is 6,800 meters above sea level, and the snow line is only 4,600 meters above sea level, and it shines all year round (Figure 3). Affected by the climate of the eastern section of the Himalayas, although the glacier is located at 29° north latitude, the temperature at the end of the glacier is lower than that of the glacier in Bogda Mountain at 44° north latitude, which is a special phenomenon in modern glaciers in China (Figure 4). There are hundreds of meters long ice tongues (Figure 5).
Here, glaciers, lakes, farmland, pastures, villages, forests, etc. are integrated, and it is a model of harmonious coexistence between man and nature. The mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forest at the foot of the glacier has shown colorful autumn colors (Figure 6),
In the afternoon, continue east along National Highway 318 and return to Chamdo. There is no road construction in the Chamdo-Basu section, and the road conditions are good.
I want to go to Laigu Glacier to take a look. Due to the bad weather and tight time, I plan to go tomorrow and walk around Ranwu Lake by the way (Figure 7).
Ranwu Lake is not hidden in the deep mountains and is not easy to reach, but it stretches along the side of National Highway 318 and extends to the foot of Laigu Glacier. It is fully open and free of charge.
Ranwu Lake was formed more than 200 years ago. A landslide occurred in the downstream area of Ranwu Lake today. The huge collapsed stone dam blocked the Parlung Zangbo and formed a huge plateau barrier lake, which is today's Ranwu Lake (Figure 8).
There are green grasslands and green crops by the lake; there are vast forests on the hillside by the lake, and there are many rocks and small islands dotted around the lake (Figure 9). The lake water here should be blue or green. Due to the previous rainy season, there was more silt brought down from the mountain. The two lakes today are yellow and the viewing is not good.
Stay in the nearby Ranwu Town (altitude 3890 meters) tonight, the weather tomorrow is to be observed, and strive to complete the tour of Laigu Glacier.

318 Sichuan-Tibet Line → Ranwu Lake ~ Midui Glacier Check-in
🌟 Highlights:
Ranwu Lake - Midui Glacier
The weather has been exceptionally good recently. I thought it would rain, but unexpectedly, the sun came out. Entering Tibet is indeed different, hahaha.
Ranwu Lake was not as good as I imagined. On the way to Ranwu Lake, we encountered another lake, but the water was smelly, so I didn't feel like taking pictures, and it wasn't very pretty. I pinned my hopes on Ranwu Lake, but when we got there, it wasn't as beautiful as the previous lake. I was a bit disappointed, so I just took a few casual photos and headed to the glacier. We made some food on the way and then went up the mountain.
Midui Glacier requires a ticket costing 87 yuan, and you need to take a sightseeing bus for 17 yuan, which only goes halfway. After getting off, you have two choices: ride a horse for 100 yuan or walk for two hours round trip. We chose to ride horses. The horses were a bit smelly, but if you like horse riding, you can give it a try. It wasn't very photogenic, but it was much easier. When we saw the glacier, we felt it was all worth it. We originally wanted to see the golden mountain at sunrise, but it required a long wait, so we didn't wait. After taking some photos and checking in, we came down. By the way, the toilets are locked after hours, so try to use the toilets in the mountains. We rode horses back and forth.

The Midui Glacier is stunningly beautiful in August
The Midui Glacier is the world's lowest-altitude glacier and has been rated as one of the six most beautiful glaciers in China by 'Chinese National Geography'.
In August, the glacier still exudes wildness and mystery. The trek to the viewing platform passes through villages and primeval forests, leaving one breathless with its beauty💙
📍Attraction: Midui Glacier
🚩Address: Bomi County, Nyingchi, Tibet, near National Highway 318
✅Ticket: 85 RMB/person, round-trip sightseeing bus 30 RMB/person
🔹🔹🔹Travel Tips
1. After purchasing tickets, you need to take an electric car to the hiking entrance. From the entrance to the viewing platform, you can walk 2km or ride a horse.
2. The scenery in front of the viewing platform is absolutely stunning. Hiking uphill may cause altitude sickness, so bring oxygen if you have average physical strength.
3. The viewing platform is still some distance from the glacier. Bring a telephoto lens and a drone for better effects.
4. There are small shops along the walking path selling barley cakes, butter tea, drinking water, and other supplies.

Midui Glacier, one of the six most beautiful glaciers in China
Midui Glacier is located in Yupu Township, Bomi County, Nyingchi Prefecture, Tibet. It is at the junction of the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains and the Boshula Range in southeastern Tibet, which is also a distribution area for China's large monsoon maritime glaciers. The glacier is covered with snow all year round, and the snow is white, but the mixed forest of coniferous and broad-leaved trees below the glacier remains green throughout the year, presenting a picturesque and colorful scenery. Therefore, it was rated as one of the 'Six Most Beautiful Glaciers in China' by National Geographic Magazine.
Midui Glacier is probably the closest glacier to National Highway 318. The entrance to Midui Glacier is set right beside National Highway 318, making it very convenient to access. Visitors can take a sightseeing bus from the entrance to Midui Village within 10 minutes, and then hike or ride a horse to the viewing platform.
The most breathtaking view of Midui Glacier is from the Midui Glacier viewing platform. The ice tongue descending from the sky shines with a silver light under the sun, and the nearly 800-meter drop makes one feel dizzy.

Tibet's stunning glaciers!
Tibet's stunning glaciers!
I went there early in the morning on a sunny day. After registering the vehicle, I drove in. The journey was also very beautiful. It didn't take long to walk from the parking area to reach the vast ice lake and blue ice field. The innermost row of blue ice walls couldn't be approached; there were warning lines and guards. The glacier is very large, and it looks different from afar and up close. The smaller piece on the right side of P1 looks like marble patterns from a distance, with beautiful blue and white waves, but as you get closer, the color fades and is not as distinct.
Midui Glacier, I went there the afternoon before, arriving around 4 PM. It took over half an hour to get there by electric shuttle and on foot (a bit breathless), and it was after 5 PM by the time I saw the large ice lake. The sunlight was no longer strong, and there were blue glaciers in the distance, but there wasn't enough time to get closer (the last shuttle down the mountain was at 6 PM)... It wasn't as impressive as coming to ancient times. I wonder if it would be more beautiful if the weather was good and there was enough time~
I find it amazing that these glaciers will melt by March/April.

The lowest altitude glacier in the world, beautiful and freezing--Midui Glacier
The Midui Glacier, one of the most beautiful glaciers in China, is only 8 kilometers away from the 318 National Highway and is easily accessible. It is also one of the most beautiful glaciers in our country. Midui Glacier is a typical representative of the maritime glaciers in southeastern Tibet, with a main peak altitude of 6800 meters and a snow line altitude of only 4600 meters. It shines with snow all year round and has a magical and charming scenery. Here, glaciers, lakes, farmland, villages, forests, etc. are integrated, the glaciers are as pure as jade, the scenery is beautiful, the shapes are different, and the beauty is intoxicating. The lower end of the glacier is a needle-broadleaf mixed forest land, with snow all year round and lush forests all year round. It is a model of harmonious coexistence between man and nature and an excellent place for tourism.
There are two ways to get to the viewing platform. You can choose to ride a horse or choose to walk like me. If you walk, you can see a lot of different scenery and various small animals.

【Stunning Tibet - Midui Glacier】
🎥 The southwest monsoon blowing from the Indian Ocean can go north along the Yarlung Zangbo River and Parlung Zangbo River valleys, deep into this series of mountains, bringing a large amount of precipitation. Thus, around a snow peak of 6385 meters above sea level behind a Tibetan village called Midui, a magnificent spirit was born - the 【Midui Glacier】.
🌊 Midui Glacier is located within the jurisdiction of Yupu Township, Bomi County, 103 kilometers from the county seat, 8 kilometers from National Highway 318, and the nearest village is only 2 kilometers away. It is one of the most important maritime glaciers in Tibet. Midui Glacier, known as the "blue gem" of Tibet, is a pearl on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Midui Glacier is one of the most beautiful glaciers in China selected by China National Geographic.
🗻 Midui Glacier is also famous for its huge scale. It is 15 kilometers long and is one of the largest valley glaciers in the world. The main peak of the glacier is 6800 meters above sea level, the snow line is only 4600 meters above sea level, and the eastern part of Midui Glacier is formed by a world-class ice waterfall, each waterfall is more than 800 meters high and more than 1000 meters wide, and there is a primitive forest between the two waterfalls.
🎀 Due to the influence of the glacier, this area has abundant precipitation and a humid climate, forming a dense forest, which is a natural "biological museum". The lower end of the glacier is a needle-broadleaf mixed forest land, with snow all year round, lush forests all year round, wrapped in a silver scarf, and wearing a green skirt. Here, glaciers, lakes, farmland, villages, forests, etc. blend together, which is a model of harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
🏞 "Midui Village" is the most beautiful village under the glacier. The village raises a large number of horses. Some of these horses are used for tourist sightseeing riding, and the other part is leisurely eating grass between the villages, blending with this quaint village. Winding into the stream, the scenery in the ditch is extraordinarily beautiful, and the snow-capped mountains, glaciers, countryside, and villages are wonderfully combined, just like a paradise.
🌇 Midui Glacier is really beautiful. Under the sun, it is like a white dragon winding between the valleys, with a majestic momentum. The red mountain in front and the silver snow mountain behind are reflected in each other, and the visual impact under the blue sky and white clouds is very strong.
🌠 Through the telephoto lens, we can see those huge ice bodies on the mountain being eroded by wind and snow, or falling freely. The glacier is cut into ravines and broken, full of scars, which is spectacular.
🎪 Midui Glacier has now become one of the important tourist attractions on the National Highway 318 Sichuan-Tibet line. If you drive into Tibet by yourself, don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime check-in point when you pass by here. Remember to bring a telephoto lens, it will surprise you...

The hometown of glaciers, the hometown of Zangwang - Mihe Glacier
Bomi is located in the northeast of Nyingchi, a group of these dying Tanggula Mountain, Hengduan, Himalayan three mountains, has the reputation of "the hometown of glaciers", The Midu glaciers in Bomi are the lowest glaciers in the world, and others are not well-known glaciers such as Langqiu, Kachin, Zhepu, and Guxiang.
When you go to Bomi to see the white glaciers, the excess negative emotions in your heart seem to be sucked away by this sacredness. The
mide glaciers are the most important maritime glaciers in Tibet. They are located in Midu Village, Yupu Township, Bomi County. The peaks of the glaciers are 6800 meters above sea level, and the shortest peaks are also 2400 meters. Walking on the snow line on the mountain, it is gentle and gentle. The villagers living in the rice dumps at the foot of the glacier belong to the transitional residential style between the pastoral area and the forest area.
Ranwu Lake to Bomi all the way down the slope, the asphalt road is very good, and it runs through the snowy mountains and the original forest. Personally think that the most beautiful scenery of the Sichuan-Tibet line is from the Ranwu Lake to the Linzhi section. The 318 National Highway to the Mihe Glacier is 6 kilometers away.
Not only can you see the bright grassland in the Mihe Glacier, but you can also take a close-up photo with the iceberg. The reflection of the lake reflects the beautiful appearance of the glacier.

Sometimes it's too easy, maybe you can't take you anywhere! . . . In the afternoon, I went to the Mihei Glacier... This place, which was rated as one of the six most beautiful glaciers in China, made us lose two hours in the forest! ! TT
Midui Glacier is located in Midu Village, Yupu Township, about 100km east of Bomi County, Nyingchi Prefecture, Tibet. It is the most important oceanic glacier in Tibet and the lowest glaciers in the world. China National Geographic is rated as one of the six most beautiful glaciers in China. The main peak of the Mihe Glacier is 6800m above sea level, the snow line is only 4600m above sea level, and the end elevation is 2400m. The mountains on both sides are steep and steep, and the snow-capped mountains and clouds are intertwined. It is a dreamlike and amazing. Climbing an iceberg has certain requirements for physical strength. It is necessary to bring food, water and other supplies, and keep warm. The temperature is particularly high outside the shade of the tree, it is very dry! But when its going to the dark, its cold and you have to wear down, all the way off and wearing it! It is easy to catch a cold! It takes three hours to travel to and from the whole trip, considering the physical experience! There are small shops in the hills suggesting that there is enough dry food supplies to go up the mountain.
Transportation: The Midu Glacier is close to the Sichuan-Tibet Highway and is convenient to enter. It can be used to charter a car from Bomi County or Ranwu Town for about 2 hours. It takes about 7km from the entrance of the scenic spot to the glacier, about 3 hours walk, and 20 minutes by car.

Located in Yupu Township, Bomi County, Mihei Glacier is the most important maritime glaciers in Tibet and the lowest glaciers in China. At the lower end of the glacier is a coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forest land. The white snow is not changed all the year round and was rated as one of the six most beautiful glaciers in China. Surrounded by groups of cattle and sheep, quaint Tibetan houses, and majestic snow-capped mountains. The lake is clear, the reflection of the snow-capped mountains in the distance is beautiful on the lake, the sun is just right, and the ice floes on the lake are gradually melting.
