The night view from Mount Hakodate, known as the "Million Dollar Night View," is truly breathtaking! We ascended the Shukutsu Panorama Observatory for breathtaking views of the coastline and visited the fascinating Otaru Aquarium. As for dining, the Wakaji Times roasted half chicken lived up to its reputation, boasting crispy skin and juicy meat. The Kameju bread and Kitakaro desserts were both delightful surprises. While everyone raves about the night view of Mount Hakodate as one of the "World's Top Three Night Views," the daytime view offers a unique charm of its own! Plus, there are many beautiful buildings at the foot of the mountain that you can explore before taking the cable car up.✨ Under the blue sky and white clouds, you can take in the entire city of Hakodate and its coastal lines on both sides, resembling a postcard. The fresh air during the climb and the sight of streets gently stretching out below are incredibly soothing.💙 📷 It's recommended to visit on a sunny day and wear white clothing for a fresher vibe! If the night view is too crowded for photos, visiting during the day is more relaxing and perfect for photography!

A two-hour flight from Kansai International Airport to New Chitose Airport brings you to the northern land✈️. From there, it's a 3.5-hour express train ride to Hakodate, where you can enjoy the vast natural beauty of Hokkaido through the train windows. Take the ropeway up to Mount Hakodate and gaze at the changing night view of Hakodate during the magic hour, letting yourself forget reality. After enjoying the night view, savor fresh seafood to end your day of travel. The next day starts with more seafood, followed by a nostalgic walk along Hachiman-zaka, famous from the Charmy Green commercials. In the afternoon, a streetcar clangs along Motomachi Slope, and at the end of Hachiman Slope, the cherry blossoms meet the sea. In the evening, take the cable car up the mountain. As dusk falls, millions of lights gradually light up, and the night cherry blossoms float semi-transparently in the halo of colored lights, like a beaded curtain hanging from the heavenly market. On the third day, head to Yukura Shrine. The stone steps of the approach are covered with a pale red hue. The sound of an ancient bell startles the birds, and the petals shaken off as they flap their wings scatter into the morning incense smoke. In the afternoon, stroll through the Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse. The scent of the sea mixes with the sweetness of cherry blossoms, seeping into the brick cracks. Find a cafe to sit down, and outside the glass window, the shadows of the flowers are mottled. A salted cherry blossom floats in the latte in your cup. Three days is short, but enough to engrave the spring of Hakodate into your memory. The cherry blossoms here are not as bright as those in Kyoto, but they have a unique clarity that has been washed by the sea breeze. When the last petal falls into the Tsugaru Strait, the reflections of the star-shaped castle, the light spots at the end of the slope, and the whispers of the night cherry blossoms and lights will eventually transform into a gentle itch in your heart when the spring breeze rises again in some year.

1. Unless you're planning an in-depth trip, two nights and three days in Hakodate is enough. Spend the first day exploring the city and stay near JR Station. On the second day, visit Goryokaku and the zoo (optional), and stay in Yunokawa to enjoy the hot springs. 2. Hakodate is quite small, so you don't need to be in excellent shape. Walking is perfectly fine for getting around the city. Here's a suggested itinerary for a day trip: Start at JR Station, visit the Mashu-Maru, explore the red brick warehouses, see Hachiman-zaka Slope, and finish with the million-dollar night view from Mount Hakodate. This route is relatively easy and covers the main attractions. 3. Hakodate Morning Market is optional. It's quite commercialized and not very cost-effective. Trying squid fishing is okay, but there are usually lines. 4. The red brick warehouses aren't particularly exciting. There's a Komeda's Coffee next to the warehouses that's worth checking out. One night with two meals will cost around 3,000 CNY for two people. However, it's worth the price, with private hot springs and a tattoo-friendly policy. 6. Hakodate is known for its shio (salt) ramen. The popular Ichimonji Ramen is also in Yunokawa. Honestly, it's not as amazing as people say. It's decent, but not worth going out of your way for. 7. Hakodate is warmer than Sapporo. Snow usually melts as soon as it lands, which can make the roads muddy. Wear waterproof shoes or waterproof shoe covers. 8. It's hard to get a front-row spot for the Mount Hakodate night view, making it difficult to take good photos. Expect long lines for the ropeway down and the bus back to JR Station. Consider walking down and taking the tram instead. 9. Taking photos at Hachiman-zaka Slope is fine, but constantly taking pictures while standing in the middle of the road is inconsiderate and dangerous, especially in winter. 10. A day in hokkodate!! When I planned for my Japan trip , I skip Okinawa and Hokkaido. Due to time constraint and I am sure that I need to explore those two area separately in different seasons . Since I am in Aomori, I am thinking of doing day trip to hokkodate, just one hour Shinkansen ride from shin- Aomori. Took Shinkansen from shin Aomori to Shin- hokkodate and then took hokkodate liner from the station , it took additional 20 mins to hokkodate, and all was cover by my JR pass . Once I reach there , I went to tourist information Center and check it out what to do and where to go . And the best option to explore the town is by tram . They have 2 and 5 ,depend on what is your preference. I would recommend you to buy one day ticket -600¥, if you use your IC card 230 per one trip . Tram station is just outside train station, and first , I went to Goryokaku Tower , where you can see the famous star shape and lots and lots of cherry were blooms . Up to the tower and check it out for the view , then came down and walk around the park where there is full of Sakura . Such a beautiful place indeed!! From then , have my lunch at nearby sushi restaurant and continue to Cape Tachomachi - beautiful scenic spot of hokkodate and end of the map 🤭🤭actually, I just walked anyhow ( actually 20mins it hill up and 20 mins of hill down 😝). From then , walk down to hokkodate Bay Area and explore the old red warehouses of trading area ( now is souvenirs shops and some food around ) , then walk towards hokkodate rope way to enjoy the whole area from bird eye view . But along the way, I stop by at one cute cafe , called little cafe , I have my very best drip coffee and home made mochi ( the softest and finest ever ) to enjoy my coffee break . Finally, went up to mount hokkodate by rope way and enjoy the whole area view , walked back to tram station and took a train back to Aomori . Such a beautiful and charming place to explore .
