Mount Tai / Taishan Steps and steps
We climbed Taishan in January the temperature was cold especially at the top of the mountain. We climbed the route from the Red gate/ Hongmen gate this took us around 2:45hrs to reach the top with some small breaks along the way. Once at the top there is load of great view points and options for food. There is around 7000 steps up to the top but then we got the cable car and the bus back down.#newyearadventure #mountainview

Besides historic relics, this mountain boasts unique natural scenery too. The lofty peaks, deep valleys, spectacular waterfalls, enchanting rocks and the centuries-old pines and cypresses will undoubtedly encourage you linger with no thought of leaving. The four wonders here are Sunrises from the East, the Sunset Glow, the Sea of Clouds and the Golden Belt along the Yellow River. It would be a great pity to miss the four wonders. We went there on New Year evening to see sunrise. It got very cold on the top so wear accordingly. #passionpassport #beautifuldestinations #travelinspiration #traveladdict

If you’re up for hiking, be sure to visit #taishan (aka Mount Tai) in #shandong province. Located roughly halfway between Beijing and Shanghai on the high speed train, a climb to the peak of Taishan makes for the perfect day trip. Once you make it to the top, there are tons of restaurants and shops to rest at. If you don’t feel like walking all the way back down to the bottom, there’s a cable car to take you there. But heads up: it will close if the weather is bad. We learned that the hard way - and climbing down the mountain in the pouring rain was an experience to say the least!

Climb Mount Tai and no other mountain will compare. This is a spiritual baptism, a journey of awe for nature. When the dawn breaks and all is quiet, step onto the stone steps leading to the sky. Each step feels like a conversation with history, a fusion with nature.

Climb high and look far.
April is the day to change the robe to Mount Tai. This is a different "spring mountain".
Although it is not a holiday, it is a scene where people are crowded. Not only are there prayers and sacrifices, but also schools organize climbing, and we have this wave of convalescence. Relying on physical strength to climb Mount Tai, time is not enough, and legs and feet are not allowed. The queue for the cable car will take nearly two and a half hours. The time left for us to visit is compressed. I didn’t go to the Jade Emperor’s Peak. Fortunately, I went to the Bi Xia Temple. It’s not a waste of time. It rained heavily before going up the mountain. It stopped raining at the foot of the mountain. There was a little cloud and sea on the mountain. The wind was very strong and the clouds were very fast. The air was also fresh... Mount Tai is good.

A Journey Through China’s Sacred Peak
Hiking Tai Shan, one of China’s most revered mountains, is a deeply spiritual and awe-inspiring experience. As the easternmost of China’s Five Great Mountains, Tai Shan holds immense historical and cultural significance, having been a pilgrimage site for emperors and poets for over 3,000 years. Located in Shandong province, it’s not just a hike, but a walk through ancient traditions and breathtaking landscapes.
The journey begins at the base of the mountain in Tai'an city, where the famous “Red Gate” marks the starting point. The path to the summit is a steep, 6,000-step climb that winds through lush forests, ancient temples, and stone inscriptions, making each step a moment of reflection. Along the way, hikers pass landmarks such as the Midway Gate to Heaven and the Dai Temple, where pilgrims traditionally offer prayers. These sites are not only historically significant but provide peaceful spots for rest and contemplation.
As you ascend, the views become more striking, with panoramic vistas of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The air becomes cooler, and the sense of accomplishment grows with each step. The summit, known as the Jade Emperor Peak, sits at 1,545 meters above sea level. Here, the experience reaches its climax, as the sun rises over the horizon, casting a golden glow over the landscape—a truly magical sight.
Hiking Tai Shan is more than just a physical challenge; it’s a journey that connects you to China’s rich history and spirituality. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or a first-timer, the mountain’s beauty and cultural depth make it an unforgettable adventure. It’s no wonder Tai Shan has been a symbol of endurance and reverence for millennia.

The famous temple in the northwest of Mount Tai - Changqing Lingyan Temple Courtyard
1
Lingyan Temple in Changqing, Jinan, Shandong. This is the last attraction of this holiday trip to Jinan, and it is relatively the most famous and the most crowded attraction.
2
Lingyan Temple, the second batch of national key cultural relics protection units, is very early in the batch. At the same time, Lingyan Temple is close to Mount Tai and is also part of the World Heritage Mount Tai. So, in fact, I can also say that I visited Mount Tai this time.
3
Lingyan Temple, also known as "Great Lingyan Temple", was built in the Jin Dynasty and has a history of more than 1600 years. Lingyan Temple was the most famous in the Tang Dynasty. At that time, Lingyan Temple in Shandong, Guoqing Temple in Zhejiang, Qixia Temple in Nanjing, and Yuquan Temple in Hubei were collectively known as the "Four Famous Temples in the Country", with Lingyan Temple being the first. During the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties, it remained a very influential temple.
4
When we walked to the square in front of Lingyan Temple, a conspicuous stone stele with the words "Great Lingyan Temple" already appeared. The four large characters are neat and powerful, attracting many tourists to stop and take photos. This stone stele is also an ancient relic. If you look closely at the small characters on the stele, it clearly states the year of Zhizheng in the Yuan Dynasty, which is already hundreds of years old.
5
The courtyard of Lingyan Temple is very large, with many highlights. Everyone knows that the Song Dynasty colored sculptures in the Thousand Buddha Hall, the Song Dynasty Pizhi Pagoda, and the Pagoda Forest are the three major highlights of Lingyan Temple. In addition to these, there are many other ancient buildings in the courtyard, including the Vajra Hall, the Heavenly King Hall, the Bell and Drum Tower, the Mahavira Hall, the Imperial Library Pavilion, the Abbot's Courtyard, the Zhengmeng Hall, and many other ancient buildings; as well as the ruins of many halls such as the Banzhou Hall, the Five Flower Hall, the Peacock King Hall, the Reclining Buddha Hall, the Ten Kings Hall, and the Wheel Hall.
6
I will definitely write separately about the Thousand Buddha Hall, so I will leave it for now. Most of the other ancient buildings are neatly and simply built. What impressed me more were those building ruins. For example, the Five Flower Hall, located next to the Mahavira Hall, was built in the Song Dynasty and destroyed by fire at the end of the Qing Dynasty, leaving only an arch-like structure, but you can still see its former exquisiteness. The ruins of the Banzhou Hall are even older. According to research, its base dates back to the early Tang Dynasty, with relics from the Song, Ming, and Qing Dynasties on top. The few pagoda pillars in front of the Banzhou Hall should not be missed, including a dense eaves stone pagoda with dragon and tiger patterns built in the 23rd year of the Kaiyuan era of the Tang Dynasty, and two extremely exquisitely carved octagonal stone pagoda pillars from the Tang Dynasty, which are masterpieces of Tang Dynasty architectural art. This dragon and tiger pagoda is the third dragon and tiger pagoda I have seen on this trip to Shandong. Its shape is different from the large and small dragon and tiger pagodas in Shentong Temple, which was a real surprise.
7
Of course, Lingyan Temple's reputation as a "famous temple in the country" means that there are definitely more highlights than these. The ancient steles and stone carvings scattered throughout the courtyard are dazzling.

100 Ways of Hiking in China: Sacred Mountains
#100WaysOfTravel
Nine Sacred mountains in China are considered spiritual symbols, and five of them are revered by adherents of Taoism and four by Buddhism.
Both groups of mountains have been places of mass pilgrimage for believers since ancient times, the very word "pilgrimage" in Chinese is formed by the expression "to pay homage to the sacred mountain."
In the Middle Kingdom, each mountain has its own characteristics, but the sacred mountains are most revered among the population. They are so called for the reason that they are closely associated with Buddhism and Taoism. Thousands of people come to these parts for pilgrimage. There are many temples and monasteries in the sacred mountains, and their history is entwined with legends. Many people go to the mountains of China for healing or confession. The inhabitants of the Celestial Empire believe that on the mountain slopes you can completely merge with nature, feel its incredible power.
Taishan (Tài shān) 泰山 is one of the most important Taoist mountains. The Chinese believe that on the peak, which is located in Shandong province, there is a place where the gods live, so they come here to heal from various diseases. Huashan (Huang Shān) is another sacred mountain, which is famous for its danger and incredible beauty. There are a huge number of temples and monasteries on the peak located in Shaanxi Province.
Hengshan is a Taoist sacred mountain in Hunan Province, which amazes with landscapes and unique nature.
Songshan (Sōngshān) 嵩山 is a Chinese Taoist sacred mountain. The Shaolin Monastery is located on it, it is known all over the world.
Buddhist sacred mountains are not inferior in fame, history and beauty:
Emeishan occupies a special place among Buddhist mountains, as the first Buddhist temple was built in this mountain range. The rocks were formed by the solidification of lava on the surface of the Earth, which erupted from a volcano. They are located in Sichuan province.
Wutaishan has a rich and interesting history, so it annually gathers not only Buddhists, but also tourists from all over the world. There is a mountain in Xinzhou County.
Putoshan is a mountain that occupies an entire island. Now it is one of the tourist centers of China. The peaks located in Zhejiang Province can only be reached by water transport.
Jiuhuashan is one of the most beautiful Buddhist mountains. Amazing landscapes enchant with their beauty and uniqueness.

Little Tarzan, take it down
Who understands the difficulty of shooting these 18 photos?
To reach the summit and view all other mountains as small
The first chapter of the Five Great Mountains series chose the leader of the Five Great Mountains—Mount Tai
The rest of the mountains are planned to be climbed this year, and then compare them
Mount Tai has too many steps, over seven thousand steps, the whole hike takes 4 hours up and more than 2 hours down, fifty thousand steps in total
Originally wanted to shoot the sunrise, but didn't wait, went to Jinan instead 😂
The scenery along the way is average, with a lot of cultural inscriptions
The scenery at the top is good, the Eighteen Bends are a bit difficult
Personal suggestion, don't bring anything, don't bring a camera!!!
