Massive Grassland and Lake 🇨🇳

📍 Napa Hai Nature Reserve, Shangri-la Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. Elevation: 3,300 meters above sea level. Our last day in our Yunnan trip was spent walking in this beautiful and the largest grassland in Shangri-la. This is actually a vast lake but it becomes a boundless green grassland in dry season. The lake has started to show again in October so we both saw Napa's lake and grassland. This is literally in the middle of nowhere that even our didi "uber"' app wasn't picking up it's map or route anymore so our driver wasn't sure where to go as well. 🤣 We found a big signage which says NAPA HAI and we saw some tourists and private cars parking so we just decided to stop. So then the haggling started as soon as we got to the entrance. It was expensive to get in because the packages were with horse riding and photography sessions and we didn't want that as we just wanted to have a leisurely walk. We managed to get away from the expensive payment by just saying "Ting Bu dong" (I don't understand) multiple times. Yes, we used our foreigner cards!😅 But to be honest, my Mandarin is good but because of their strong Mandarin accent and Tibetan language , I honestly didn't understand them. 🤣 So, they let us in for a only 20 rmb each. 😅 Enjoy! #trip #tripblazers #tripmoments

Getting There - Take a bus no. 12 It only operates at 2PM-16PM. In the morning you could visit the SongzanLin Monastery until 1-1.30PM. You can take a bus no. 3 (2rmb/wechat scan) directly from SongzanLin Monastery, and get off at 红太阳广场。At that stop, you will see bus no. 12. Bus no. 12 will go around the grassland and lake. You can make a stop whenever you want to. I didn't get off the bus until the last stop (last picture), because the scenery was meh. At the last stop, the driver will stop for 15 min. You can get off and walk around a bit, you don't need to pay another 2rmb when you get in again. The whole bus ride to go around will take about an hour. Lastly, the bus will drive back to the North Gate. Or you can make a stop whenever you want. Just tell the driver "zhe li xia che" FYI : To visit Napa Grassland and Lake is FREE. decided to visit Napahai Park in Shangrila. Tickets were 150rmb during the off season and included a horse ride and guide who walked you around the different sites. The people who run it were very nice and gave you space to explore. It’s a short trip so you can plan to see this and a few other things in a day.

When we arrived, we were greeted by a local woman who offered us horse riding through the grassland area. She gave us a discount due to it being off season but usually this is around 280¥ per person. Whilst the horse was absolutely too small to be carrying me, he did a wonderful job and was clearly well taken care of. The peaceful ride into the plain was a wonderful way to take in the sights.
