Let me introduce you to the most underrated temple in the entire Angkor Wat Complex. This historic buddhist temple was build on in artificial island in a scenic, lakeside setting. When you get a motorcycle you can easily get there by following the signs or the map. on the map you get at the entrance the distance between the temples looks close but in reality it can take quite a while to get from the Angkor Wat temple to this one. When you park at the parking area you habe to walk for another ten minutes over a bridge that brings you to the artificial island in the artificial lake. This lake looks amazing

After 10 years of traveling, I finally visited Angkor Wat, one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
From the start of our travels until now, it's been nearly ten years! Despite all these years, we hadn't visited Angkor Wat until this year's May Day, when we finally arrived at the place we've always dreamed of visiting.
📍 Angkor Wat is located 6 kilometers north of Siem Reap, Cambodia, and is the largest temple complex in the world, known as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Angkor Wat is incredibly vast, with over 50 temples, divided into three circuits (small, large, and outer).
Tickets are available for 1 day ($32), 3 days ($62), and 7 days ($72). If you're on a whirlwind tour, one day is enough, but to truly appreciate its depth, a 3-day or 7-day pass is recommended.
✅ Must-visit temples in Angkor Wat:
1⃣️ Angkor Wat: Also known as Little Angkor, famous for its bas-reliefs representing the pinnacle of Angkorian stone carving, and its renowned sunrise views.
2⃣️ Angkor Thom: Also known as Big Angkor, it was the royal palace of the ancient Angkor Empire.
3⃣️ Bayon Temple: Known for the "Smile of Khmer," featuring 54 towers with smiling faces on each side.
4⃣️ Ta Prohm: Famous for the massive ancient trees growing amidst the solid and magnificent structures, showcasing the fusion of nature and time.
5⃣️ Banteay Srei: Known for its exquisite and beautiful bas-reliefs.
6⃣️ Beng Mealea: An undeveloped site where you can see the original Angkor from a hundred years ago.
7⃣️ Phnom Bakheng: Located on a hilltop, it's a famous spot for watching the sunset. My first impression of Angkor Wat is the overwhelming power of nature and time, making every corner unforgettable.
🍃 Towering trees rise between ancient structures, with massive roots tightly entwining the stones, leaving even seasoned travelers like us in awe.
🌈 Tips: ✨ Name: Angkor Wat
📍 Location: 6 kilometers north of Siem Reap, Cambodia
🚗 Transportation: There is an Angkor International Airport with direct flights, or you can take a bus from Vietnam, Thailand, or Laos; in Siem Reap, taxis are scarce, and travel is mainly by tuk-tuk.
👣 Route: Guangzhou - Siem Reap - Little Angkor - Bayon Temple - Baphuon Temple - Phnom Bakheng - East Gate - Elephant Terrace - Preah Khan - Neak Pean - Ta Prohm - Pre Rup - Tonle Sap Lake - Bakong Temple - Beng Mealea - Banteay Srei
🧤 What to bring: The sunlight is intense here, so it's recommended to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, an umbrella, and a sun hat; bring summer clothes and a light jacket

Neak Pean: A Crystal Beauty in The Middle of Swamp
#voyagevibes
Built during the era of King Jayavarman VII (reign 1181-1218 CE), Neak Paan (or Neak Poon) is one of the most mysterious and unique temples of the Angkor Empire. Located on a man-made island in the center of a huge baray (lake), hidden among dense forests, is a very special Buddhist temple. The central sanctuary, rising on a double circular lotus-style base, is located in the center of a large pool with four more smaller sanctuaries that join this pool with smaller pools on the cardinal directions.
Located to the east of the Preah Khan Temple, with which it is connected, and located in the center of Jaitataka Barai, which measures 3,600 by 900 meters, Neak Pean Island has a length of 350 meters from the side and occupies 120,000 sq. m. Laterite walls with steps on the cardinal directions forming its perimeter. The temple and the pools described below are located in the very center of the island and are surrounded by auxiliary pools formed not of laterite.
The one-of-a-kind central sanctuary opens to the east and is decorated with large images of Avalokiteshvara closing false doors on the other sides, with a three-headed elephant between each of them, on top of which is a roaring lion. As already mentioned, it uniquely rises from a round double lotus, which is then surrounded by intertwined naga snakes, located on either side of the statue of the horse, Balakha.
Balakha's horse is a character in a Buddhist legend from the Karandavyuha Sutra, where Balakha is the previous incarnation of Avalokiteshvara, who saves the life of the previous incarnation of the Buddha himself.
The edicts on the cardinal directions connecting the central pool with the corresponding external pool are also decorated with images of Avalokiteshvara and numerous symbols, on the pediment of one of them there is a palace scene, and all of them are crowned with a four-sided Chaitya, again depicting Avalokiteshvara. The highlight of these buckets is their sewerage, which allows water to flow from the central pool into a bucket, through a pedestal and from a spout in the form of a lion's head on the southern bucket, a horse's head in the west, an elephant's head in the north and a human head in the east.
Exploring this place will not take much time, and if you have more time, there is a beautiful and picturesque nature trail that will take you along the outer edge of the island with benches to enjoy a peaceful view of the waters of Barai. The trail starts near the newly renovated marina on the north side, following the outer edge where you can see the laterite retaining wall of the island.

A harmonious blend of nature's beauty
Neak Pean, known as " "}the entwined snakes," "} is a petite temple nestled on an island amidst the former expanse of the Jayatataka baray, now dried up. Spanning 3,500 meters in length and 900 meters in width, this reservoir once teemed with life. Originally honoring the Buddha, the temple later underwent a transformation, becoming a sanctuary dedicated to Lokeshvara, the embodiment of compassion.
Its allure extends beyond architectural marvels to the serene scenery adorning the bridge. The picturesque view of trees reflected in the tranquil lake further enhances the temple's enchanting ambiance. Neak Pean stands not only as a testament to ancient devotion but also as a harmonious blend of nature's beauty and spiritual sanctity.

Neak Poan Temple 🇰🇭
#2024wish
I recently embarked on a journey to explore the captivating Neak Poan Temple nestled in the enchanting Siem Reap Province. This architectural marvel, steeped in ancient history, offers a breathtaking panorama that leaves one in awe. The sheer beauty of the temple, adorned with intricate artwork and masterful construction, fills me with an overwhelming sense of excitement and anticipation as I prepare to witness its wonders firsthand.
Neak Poan serves as a symbol of the lavishness and magnificence that characterized a forgotten period, arousing visions of an era when extravagance and elegance were paramount. While larger temples devoted to Siva drew the focus of men and military forces, it was the small-scale Neak Poan that captivated the affections of enthusiastic princesses. Through their meticulously crafted golden offerings and alluring fragrances, these princesses endeavored to pay homage to the divine with their invaluable tributes.
Consider visiting Cambodia if you want to make your travel truly special and create unforgettable memories. I plan to revisit this remarkable destination in 2024. #historicallandmarks #mytravelhacks #localguides #familytrip #ancienttemples #neakpoan

Neak Pean Buddhist temple 🛕
Located in the amazing city of Siem Reap. we were surprised that crossing that beautiful bridge with fish and aquatic plants that led us to see a beautiful temple in the center of a lake.
The area is super quiet which generates a lot of peace.
I recommend arriving and sitting down to rest in the shade admiring the ruins of the Neak Pean Temple

It was built in the second half of the 12th century by King Jayavarman VII, dedicated to Buddhists.
There are two ways to get to Neak Pean, you can either approach it from Angkor Thom in the east or Ta Som in the west, either way you still need to cross the bridge, because it was built on the reservoir.
Each of the four pools represent water, earth, fire and water, connected to a central pool by a stone channel. When the temple was first built, the sculptures of the four heads still can be seen when the water is low.
If you believe in folklore, you might even improve your health after visiting Neak Pean, so it is included in the Grand Circuit Tour.

The Dragon Pool is located in Siem Reap, Cambodia. It means a tangled giant snake. It is a statue of two snake gods Naga entwined on a stone tower built on the island in the middle of the pool.
Longhui Pool was originally a temple sanatorium for healing beauty. There is a small pool in the middle of the big pool. The water in the big pool flows into the small pool through the vents of the four sculptures, and the north is the elephant, representing the water; The East is a human being, representing the earth; the South is a lion, representing the fire; the West is a horse, representing the wind. At the time, the bottom of the pool was filled with medical herbs. When the rainy season came, the water in the pool rose and the syrup would flow into the small pool. People think that the potions in the four pools have different curative effects, so according to the different conditions of each person. Then arrange the patient into a different pool.
Once the holy water, now no longer cures people, but its beautiful scenery is still a small paradise in people's hearts.
Coco Wang.
Built in the late 12th century, the Dragon Pool
was originally shocked from the wood corridor, but since we did not go to the rainy season
no rain, there is no water
But that's how we look at the past is also very beautiful.
Cambodia did not end until the 1990s because of the civil war.
So many mine victims.
It is said that the early Angkor Wat tour can only take the road they cleaned out, and it is forbidden to step on it.
Because you don't know when you will step on the mine.
Of course, the first batch of travel in the same year did not have the convenience and peace of mind.
Now, landmine victims will build a shed to play local Cambodian music.
