During my trip to Yogyakarta, I specifically set aside a day to explore this place. When the drone took off and captured the breathtaking views of the volcano and the village, I felt the journey was absolutely worth it. 🧩 The village is called Nepal Van Java. I was curious about its connection to Nepal, which is thousands of kilometers away. Later, I learned that the village was established in the 19th century by Nepalese immigrants and named "Nepal" to honor their homeland. 🧩 It is located on the slopes of Mount Sumbing in Central Java. Sumbing is an active volcano standing at 3,371 meters high, though it hasn't erupted in a long time. According to my research, its last eruption was in 1730, nearly 300 years ago. (If it were as active as Mount Merapi, no one would dare live on its slopes.) The fertile volcanic soil has made agriculture thrive here, and the terraced fields are the main source of income for the villagers. 🧩 Situated about 60 kilometers northwest of Yogyakarta, we hired a car from Amanjiwo to get there. The one-way trip took about an hour. To capture clear views of the volcano, it's best to arrive before 9 a.m.

Malioboro city is very beautiful and calm even though it is busy with many people, horse carriages, tricycles and others. Timang Beach is also enjoyable even though the journey there is a bit painful. The experience of staying in Nepal Van Java is also very beautiful. We will come again to Nepal Van Java to stay again later. Suko Makmor vegetable garden is very calming. Many mothers fell in love so much that it was hard to leave home. We are grateful to be able to stop by the beautiful Suciati Saliman Mosque. Hopefully continued success for Suciati and Saliman. #travel

Sumbing, this village offers picturesque landscape and cool weather, making it a insta- worthy tourist spot. My friend drove me there for a day trip from Magelang city centre to the village in the early morning, it took around an hour for arrival. Parking place is available not far from the main entrance. We strolling around and taken lots of nice photos with the picturesque houses, plantation and Mount Sumbing as backdrop. After 1.5 hrs of sightseeing, we taken some rest at a beautiful cafe and had some local snacks. The Nepal Van Java is an amazing destination that offers an opportunity to experience the beauty of Indonesia’s nature, culture, and people, while also enjoying a sense of calmness. ⏩ Visitors have to pay IDR 10k per pax for entrance, after that explore on foot or hires Ojek motor to go around. ⏩ Overall rated: 4.9/5.
