Exploring Copenhagen by Bike: A Solo Adventure!
This time, I traveled alone to Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, one of the Nordic countries. I find this place perfect for solo travel because it is very safe and ideal for a relaxing getaway! In Copenhagen, bicycles are a popular mode of transportation. Riding a bike through different places, you can see the entire beautiful city along the way! The architecture in Copenhagen is also very unique, with the famous Nyhavn known for its colorful buildings lining both sides of the canal!
Overall, after this solo trip to Copenhagen, I believe it was a very wise choice! Not only does it allow you to relax, but you can also ride a bike to various places on your own!

Tips for Exploring Downtown Copenhagen: A Guide to Danish Culture and History
Downtown Copenhagen is the perfect starting point to explore Danish culture and history.
Stroll through the colorful streets and head to the Little Mermaid statue to experience the romantic atmosphere of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales.
Next, visit Amalienborg Palace to witness the opulence of the Danish royal family.
Nyhavn Canal is a paradise for tasting local cuisine and shopping. Don't forget to find a café by the canal to relax and enjoy some leisure time.
Travel Tips:
The attractions in the city center are relatively close to each other, so walking is recommended to better experience the city's atmosphere.
Also, pay attention to the opening hours and ticket policies of each attraction to plan your itinerary wisely.
Additionally, Copenhagen's downtown area has well-developed bike lanes. Renting a bike is also a great option, as it saves time and allows you to deeply experience local life.

Trip to Copenhagen, Denmark 🇩🇰
On our first day, we were exploring the history district. We started our day with a visit to Nyhavn, a picturesque canal lined with colorful buildings. We also visited the Rosenborg Castle, a beautiful Renaissance castle surrounded by gardens.
Rosenborg Castle
📍Øster Voldgade 4A, 1350 København, Denmark.
We also try out Restaurant Schønnemann. It was recommended by my friend. The restaurant is known for its traditional Danish cuisine. I would recommend you to try out their Smørrebrød (open-faced sandwiches) 🥪 That was my favorite item out of all the we tried! And the price was considered reasonable.
We also visited the Black Diamond (Det Kongelige Bibliotek), an iconic modern library with striking architecture. I would also recommend you to explore the National Museum of Denmark that showcasing Danish history and culture. I find it very interesting and worth to visit.
Black Diamond
📍Søren Kierkegaards Plads 1, 1221 København, Denmark.
National Museum
📍 Ny Vestergade 10, 1471 København K, Denmark.
Just to recommend another restaurant that we tried at Noma, one of the world's top restaurants that is known for its innovative Nordic cuisine. We tried the tasting menu and were amazed by the quality and taste of the food 💯
Noma
📍Refshalevej 96, 1432 København K, Denmark.
We also spent some times to take a bike ride along the waterfront at the Islands Brygge Harbour Bath, where we were given chance to swim in the clean harbor waters, but we didn’t as we forgot to bring extra clothes.
📍Islands Brygge 14, 2300 København S, Denmark.
We also visited Torvehallerne, a vibrant food market offering a wide range of local produce and delicacies. We definitely love the vibes and food from the market. Worth to visit ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Torvehallerne
📍Frederiksborggade 21, 1360 København, Denmark.

Hey, and Hey, it’s Nyhavn🇩🇰.
This place is colorful, captivating Nyhavn is one of Copenhagen’s most iconic sights and one of the locals’ favorite places to sink a cold beer on a hot day. Originally it was a commercial port where ships from all over the would dock, and it was packed with sailors visiting its pubs, ale houses and ladies of pleasure. Intriguing 🤨 but now it’s been renovated and dominated by different types of restaurants as you walk beside the canal. #nyhavncopenhagen #restaurant #canalside #colorful #sights #copenhagenlife

Copenhagen Nyhavn📍
Nyhavn in Copenhagen is amazing. The ice cream is remarkably amazing. You can just spend the whole day long staying here to kill your time.
Nyhavn is definitely a picturesque waterfront district in Copenhagen. Colorful buildings, charming boats, and lively atmosphere create an unforgettable scene. Must drop there if you have time in Copenhagen. Foods were delicious too.

Nyhavn canal side town 🍻🦐🦪⛴️
One of my favourite place to spent a day in the Nyhavn and surroundings. Locals and tourists come here to relax, eat and drink one of the restaurants lining the Nyhavn canal; sitting outside in the summer is wonderful and indoors in during the winter.
Here are roughly about 12 restaurants that serve fresh seafoods and coldest ale beers. 🍺
There are traditional Danish lunch and dinner served here: lovely burgers, fish & chips, lobsters 🦞 are all on the menu along with two mixed platters and a wide selection of smørrebrød with fillings including herring, eggs with shrimp and salmon.

Nyhavn harbour 🇩🇰
My visit to Nyhavn couldn’t be more colourful! It is almost impossible to visit Copenhagen without walking down along Nyhavn neighbourhood. The most iconic place and picturesque place in Copenhagen is Nyhavn harbour, where the canal is lined on both sides by vibrant colours of 17th and early 18th century traditional Danish townhouses, which accommodate many great restaurants, cafes and bars. So much to see and explore, I would recommend try freshly baked Danish pastries, local amber ale and seafood dishes.

Nyhavn
Nyhavn is a popular tourist attraction in Copenhagen city centre. There are lots of restaurants and souvenirs shops over there. You can get the ticket for canal cruise at the harbour or you can book it online, saving your time for queuing. The journey takes about 30min (round trip). You will enjoy the view of the city from the river! It was fantastic 😍 The other way to explore is to walk along the river, I found that it’s a better way cuz you can pop in to any shops without hassle.

Nyhavn - Copenhagen, Denmark
Try googling “Copenhagen” and this is what you would see - Nyhavn. A 17th century waterfront, canal, food dining and entertainment district in the capital city of Denmark.
The oldest house around here are dated from 1681! In this area, you can also find the Veteran Ship and Museum Harbour and the Memorial Anchor.
The closest metro station to get you here is Kongens Nytorv.

Colorful Nyhavn
Nyhavn is lined with beautiful colorful buildings with a lot of bars, cafes and restaurants. This is a nice area to walk and people watch as this is probably the most touristy place in Copenhagen.
You can also go on a boat for sightseeing around the area.

An overlooked romantic fairy tale kingdom | Copenhagen, a spur-of-the-moment trip
In July 2022, a spontaneous trip to Copenhagen.
As we all know, the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen, which accompanied us through childhood, originated here.
In a moment of impulsiveness, I bought a ticket for the next day. I departed from Hamburg, Germany, not far from Denmark. Since I couldn't get a train ticket at such short notice, I bought a Flixbus ticket instead, which took about 5.5 hours.
The fantasy begins here...
Got on the bus, after two and a half hours of driving suddenly entered a pitch-black environment, and we all got off the bus. After getting off the bus with a bewildered look, I found myself on a huge ship ⛴️... with duty-free shops, dining, and more. Opening Google maps, I realized that I was floating on the sea. So, blowing in the sea breeze, I began to make a travel plan...
🌟Highlight features:
1. Mermaid 🧜♀️
A bronze sculpture based on Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale "The Little Mermaid".
Every tourist will go to the place to take photos. I think passing by, the surrounding lake and greenery are very beautiful.
Address: Langelinie, 2100 København Ø, Denmark
2. Xingang
Copenhagen is a place of charm, with many beer houses and restaurants.
3. Organ Church 💒
Suitable for taking photos, a bit far from the city center, about half an hour by bus.
Address: På Bjerget 14B, 2400 København NV, Denmark
Monday closed
4. Qu Fu Li Park 🎠
Disney's predecessor, it is recommended to spend at least half a day here. There are fireworks before closing at night. The fireworks are beautiful, but the music doesn't quite match.
The park has a separate app that can be downloaded in advance.
Location: Vesterbrogade 3, 1630 København V, Denmark
5. Changing of the guard ceremony of the Royal Danish Guard.
Wearing a furry hat in the middle of summer is a bit ridiculous but interesting. The exchange ceremony in Sweden was simple and elegant. However, the grandiose parade with a marching band lasted for a couple of hours.
At 12:00 noon every day, it is recommended to write early so that you can squeeze to the front of the crowd.
Address: Amalienborg Palace (Danish Palace)
6. ❤️ My top recommended destination:
Louisiana Museum of Modern Art
Suitable for art and leisure companions. This is a place where art and nature blend together. It is also a must-visit spot for me on this trip. Two years ago, I saw an exhibition of Louisiana in Shanghai and have been thinking about it ever since. After visiting, it exceeded my already high expectations. It is located by the sea, and the art gallery leads directly to the ocean. After a tiring stroll, you can sit by the sea.
Distance: Far from the city center, about one hour by Re train or 40 minutes by car. Located in the coastal area of northern Copenhagen.
Duration: Suitable for a day of leisure, at least half a day. It is also very suitable for staying there for a weekend.
Location: Gl Strandvej 13, 3050 Humlebæk, Denmark
🌟Restaurant:
1. Captain H Chinese BBQ & Korean Bistro
Chinese barbecue! I was so moved because there is no barbecue in the city where I live.
The price is on the high side.
2. The Olive
Local internet-famous restaurant, it's best to make a reservation on their official website in advance. I made a reservation in advance, but because I met a friend from Denmark and decided to eat together at the last minute, there was no available seat to add. However, after negotiating and waiting, we finally got to eat.
🔒Tip:
1. After 10pm, all restaurants are closed!!! The open bars only serve drinks, there is no food available. ⁉️‼️‼️
This is an absolute trap. It took me five or six hours to get here on the first day, and the several restaurants I planned to go to were closed. When I started to settle for less, I found that all the restaurants were closed!! I walked for an hour or two and almost covered the entire city on the first night.
2. If traveling independently, all train tickets can be purchased on the Omio app. Subway and bus tickets can be purchased at subway or bus stations.
3. Many restaurants are closed on Sundays. Denmark has many Michelin restaurants with good value for money.

Nyhavn
Nyhavn, one of the most popular and iconic places to visit in Copenhagen. Beautiful place with a lot of (but expensive) options to eat or simply just hang out and chill in the area. Because in Denmark is allowed to drink on the streets, this is a perfect place to hang out while having some drinks with your friends. Most of the tours have their meeting point here and you as well can take some tours in a boat and go around the city through the water. Overall, Nyhavn is a nice place to spend time hanging around,
Extra tip: there are public toilets in the place

Morning walk around Nyhavn
- Morning walk around Nyhavn, live on every footage of "Danish Girl"
- If you have seen the movie Danish Girl, it is not difficult for you to recognize these boats anchored in Nyahvn, you may not know the name but also recognize this image. Nyhavn means New Harbor - new harbor - where many boats moored.
- Nyhavn is characterized by the fact that on both sides of the bank are rows of beautiful colorful houses. The north shore is called Sunny Side with many restaurants, beer bars and even… strip clubs. The south shore is called Shady Side with many shops selling tours and renting bicycles.

Copenhagen is an extremely family friendly city full of museums, cute restaurants, colourful streets, and pretty scenery. Rent a bike and ride along the canals as a family before stopping for a fun snack. We loved the vibrant buildings in Nyhavn where the canal is lined with mouthwatering restaurants and pretty boats. Our kids couldn't get enough of the famous chocolate covered waffles and we loved sitting outdoors for a refreshing drink. After a pretty walk along the water we came across the original The Little Mermaid Statue which was the ideal spot to snap a few memorable photos. Make sure to head to Torvehallerne to explore the local food stalls serving delicious fare and visit one of the many epic playgrounds perfect for little ones to jump, climb, and play with locals. A truly beautiful and safe city that is extremely child friendly and fun.
