Norbu Lingka, the 'Summer Palace' on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau
Norbu Lingka, which means 'Treasure Park' in Tibetan, is also known as the Summer Palace of Lhasa. It is the summer palace of the Dalai Lamas and the place where they handle political affairs and hold religious activities. This garden is the most distinctive garden in Tibet, covering an area of 46 hectares, with more than 370 rooms of different sizes, known as the 'garden in the garden'.
Norbu Lingka was built in the mid-18th century, during the Seventh Dalai Lama. Every year from April to September in the Tibetan calendar, the Dalai Lama would move from the Potala Palace to this place to handle political affairs and hold celebrations. Norbu Lingka was originally a shrub forest, a place where the old course of the Lhasa River passed. The Seventh Dalai Lama, Gelsang Gyatso, often came here to set up tents to spend the summer during his studies at Drepung Monastery. Later, the Qing court's minister in Tibet set up tents here for the Dalai Lama to rest and recite sutras, which is the earliest origin of Norbu Lingka.
Norbu Lingka is composed of several groups of palace buildings such as Gelsang Podrang, Golden Podrang, Datan Mingju Podrang, etc., each group of buildings is divided into three main parts: the palace front area, the palace area, and the forest area. The building group with Gelsang Podrang as the main body is located in the southeast of the southern courtyard within the second wall, with Buddha halls, bedrooms, reading rooms, Dharma protector temples, assembly halls, etc. The building group with Choji Podrang (Lake Heart Pavilion) as the main body is located about 120 meters northwest of Gelsang Podrang, which is the most beautiful scenic area in Norbu Lingka. The building group with Golden Podrang as the main body is located in the west of Norbu Lingka. Each group of buildings is mainly made of wood and stone, with neat planning and obvious Tibetan architectural style.

Lhasa, Tibet, Norbulingka
Norbulingka is the largest, most scenic, and most historic garden in Tibet, located in the western suburbs of Lhasa. It was founded by the Seventh Dalai Lama and is a place where the Dalai Lamas of all generations have spent their summers and governed. It is a typical Tibetan-style garden. Not only does it have common flowers and trees in the Lhasa area, but it also has strange flowers and grasses from the southern and northern foothills of the Himalayas, as well as precious flowers transplanted from the mainland or introduced from abroad, making it a plateau botanical garden. The buildings are mainly composed of Gesang Pozhang, Golden Pozhang, and Datan Mingjiu Pozhang. Each group of buildings is divided into three main parts: the palace area, the area in front of the palace, and the forest area. All the buildings are made of wood and stone as the main materials, and they are well planned and have a distinct Tibetan architectural style. The walls of the main halls are all painted with exquisite murals.

Travel to Norbulingka in Lhasa
Norbulingka, a lesser-known attraction in Lhasa city. In fact, it is a Tibetan-style garden,
Norbulingka in Tibetan means 'Treasure Garden', so both in terms of scale and scenery, it is the best. At that time, a lot of construction was carried out, many palace buildings, pavilions, a variety of flowers and trees were planted, and many birds and animals were raised. As the summer palace outside the Potala Palace, a lot of effort was put into building this garden.
In summer, the green shade is lush, the birds are fragrant, and the water is gurgling. It is indeed good to cool off in such a quiet place.
The architectural features of Norbulingka both maintain the style of the Tibetan plateau and draw on the traditional techniques of the Central Plains, embracing both.
When I went there, it was winter, under the azure sky, the Tibetan-style architecture was particularly beautiful, the trees were slightly withered, giving a sense of desolation.
Now Norbulingka has been converted into a park, the glory of the past no longer exists, can only reminisce about history in front of the remaining palace.

Norbu Lingka||Hidden in the Jiangnan Garden of Tibet
||Hidden in the Jiangnan Garden of Tibet.🍁 Norbu Lingka is a national key cultural relics protection unit, located in the western suburbs of Lhasa, Tibet. It was built in the 1740s (the 7th Dalai Lama) and is a typical Tibetan-style garden where the Dalai Lamas of all generations spent their summers and governed.
🍁 Norbu Lingka, meaning Treasure Garden, contains a large number of relics and treasures. The garden has more than 300 rooms and is a large and exquisite garden in the history of Tibet.
🍁 Norbu Lingka has a beautiful environment, with many types and quantities of plants and flowers, shaded by trees, like the 'Shangri-La' of Lhasa.
🍁 Norbu Lingka is about 1 kilometer long and about 500 meters wide, and can be visited on foot. The garden is divided into three areas: the front garden area at the entrance of the east side, the core palace area in the middle, and the golden forest area in the west, which is mainly composed of plant forests. The trees in the front garden area are very dense, with more than 100 kinds of plants, including precious flowers from all over Tibet and even from the mainland and abroad, known as the 'Plateau Botanical Garden'.
🍁 As soon as you enter the garden, there are dense and tall trees in front of you, covering the buildings inside, with only the wide stone path under your feet leading people forward. Because there are not many tourists, the garden has a rare sense of tranquility, the sun shines through the dense leaves and spills on the stone slabs very quietly, the flowers on both sides are diverse and colorful, and the scenery is very rare in Lhasa.
🍁 The core palace area and the palaces are all carefully built at that time, with the Tibetan style of golden roofs and red and white walls as the main, and most of the layout is built by water. In the middle of the garden is a small lake. Walking into the lake pavilion in the middle of the water, you can see towering ancient trees and grass everywhere. The surrounding pavilions, water pavilions, and corridors complement each other, making it feel like you have come to the Suzhou Gardens, which is very beautiful.
🍁 The Buddha Hall, the Scripture Hall, the Dharma Protector Temple and other religious atmospheres are strong, and the Buddha statues, Thangkas, murals, etc., are either dazzling or rich, all are art treasures. At the same time, because there are Han Chinese ministers stationed in Tibet to help build, there are many Han Chinese art works with themes similar to 'Fu Lu Shou Xi', which are novel.

The summer palace of the Dalai Lama, the Tibetan version of the Summer Palace
Norbulingka, meaning Treasure Garden, is located in the western suburbs of Lhasa, Tibet. It was built in the 1740s and is the place where the Dalai Lama of all ages spent the summer and managed politics. It is a typical Tibetan-style garden, the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units, and world cultural heritage.
Norbulingka was originally a shrub forest, where the old course of the Lhasa River passed. The river here is winding and the water flow is gentle. The summer dike grass and bank willow are reflected in it, and the scenery is beautiful. The Seventh Dalai Lama, Gelsang Gyatso, often came here to set up tents to spend the summer during his study at Drepung Monastery. Later, because the Seventh Dalai Lama liked and often came to this place, the Qing Dynasty's resident minister in Tibet ordered some tents to be set up near the spring for the Dalai Lama to rest and recite sutras. This is the earliest origin of Norbulingka.
After more than 200 years of expansion, Norbulingka covers an area of 360,000 square meters (exactly half the size of the Forbidden City in Beijing). There are more than 100 kinds of plants in the garden, not only common flowers and trees in Lhasa, but also strange flowers and weeds from the southern and northern foothills of the Himalayas, as well as precious flowers transplanted from the mainland or introduced from abroad, which can be called a plateau botanical garden. The buildings are mainly composed of Gelsang Pozhang, Golden Pozhang, and Datan Mingjiu Pozhang (Pozhang means palace in Tibetan), with 374 rooms, which is the largest, most scenic, and most historic garden in Tibet.
Norbulingka is really big, and there is quite a distance between each palace. It is strongly recommended to take a sightseeing car for a tour, which takes about 1.5-2 hours. If you choose to walk, it is said that it will take five or six hours to finish. After all, it is on the plateau of 3650 meters, and Lhasa has so many attractions, it is better to spend money to buy relaxation and save some energy

Norbulingka is a place where the Dalai Lama spent the summer and is a typical Tibetan style garden.
Building a table at a high place, digging a pool at a low place, letting it be natural, taking the scene as a victory. The forests of Norbulingka are densely covered, and among the green trees, the Tibetan-style buildings such as the Lake Palace, the Dragon King Pavilion and the Golden Linka are fascinating. The fresh air and the peaceful environment have a simple and natural taste unique to Tibetan gardens.
At the corner of the temple, you can see some old people in the prayer wheel or in "thinking about life"

Loblinka not only has the characteristics of Tibet, but also draws on the traditional methods of gardening in the interior, using buildings, rocks, water surfaces and forests to create different artistic conceptions. Figure 5 shows the Lake Heart Palace built during the Eighth Dalai Lama. Although the lake has dried up when we visited, it is not difficult to see that it combines the skills of the Han area.
Although Norbulingka is not as famous as the Potala Palace, as a summertime residence of the Dalai Lama in the Tibetan area, the flowery garden of Norbulingka is definitely worth savoring. .

Loblinka means the baby garden, located in the western suburbs of Lhasa. It was built in the 1840s (Dalai VII) and is a place where the Dalai Lama has ruled out the summer affairs and Tibetan style gardens. The park not only has common flowers and trees in the Lhasa area, but also exotic flowers and plants from the north and south of the Himalayas. It is called the Plateau Botanical Garden.
When the summer afternoon, the strong sunlight can't stop people's excitement, perhaps for the Tibetans who occupy most of the park, this is not our usual meaning - they are in groups of three or five, or Young people drink Lhasa beer around a circle, or a big family talking and laughing, here is a place for them to meet. There are several comparable chapters in the
Roblinka, which is the palace. There is a brief introduction to the building at the entrance of the palace. However, because you dont understand Buddhism, you dont know much about Tibets history. Although I really want to remember more, most of them are still forgotten.
Roblinka consists of several groups of palace buildings, such as Gesangpo, Golden Pagoda, and Dandan Mingjiuzhang. Each group is divided into three main parts: the palace area, the Gongqian area and the forest area. The walls are painted with beautiful murals. In front of each palace, there are flowers of extremely colorful colors, and the red, yellow, purple and blue dragons are beautiful. Although the plateau is not the most suitable place for flower growth, it may be because of its special geographical location that the flowers here are so beautiful.
Robulingka, just like its beautiful name, is pure and pure. If you can have a deep understanding of Tibetan culture, your heart will definitely belong to Norbulingka.
