A Hidden Gem for Solo Diners
Address - G/F, 193 Tsat Tsz Mui Road, North Point
Ambiance/Facilities - Only nine seats in the entire restaurant
Specialty - Meticulously prepared dishes
Average Price - $110
Rating - 7.5/10
If you enjoy dining alone, this place is highly recommended. Despite being a small restaurant with only nine counter seats, its striking cobalt blue entrance makes it stand out. It's a sincere Japanese restaurant offering reasonably priced lunch and dinner, ranging from tens to over a hundred dollars. The menu features ramen and fried dishes, such as fried oysters, shrimp balls, and Spanish white pork chicken broth ramen. The ingredients are very fresh and of high quality. The only downside is the limited seating space.

Revisiting Gui Yuan
I used to frequent their old shop and found the food delicious and the service great. It was a pity to see it closed when I passed by recently. However, I discovered they have reopened in North Point, so I had to go and relive the experience. The new shop is more spacious than the old one, and the environment in the mall is more comfortable. This time, I ordered the signature hot and sour soup rice noodles with medium to mild spiciness, rich fresh tomato soup with sweet potato noodles, and highly recommended shiitake mushrooms. The mushrooms were large, tender, and flavorful, bursting with juice when bitten into—truly amazing 👍🏻. The braised chicken wings were also well-marinated, showing the effort put into preparing the ingredients. The radish was sweet and tender, not stingy at all. The tomato soup was rich in tomato flavor, not too thick but still packed with a rich tomato taste, and full of tomatoes, making the soup rich in vitamin C, healthy and delicious. Additionally, I ordered a plate of choy sum, garlic pork belly, Chongqing spicy chicken wings, and coconut water. The choy sum was crisp and green, the garlic pork belly was mildly spicy and flavorful, and the Chongqing spicy chicken wings, served cold, had a texture similar to drunken chicken with a spicy kick. Finally, a sip of cool coconut water balanced the spiciness, making the whole experience very satisfying.

Traveling alone to Hong Kong can be quite enjoyable!
Traveling alone to Hong Kong Island is a great choice. You can start from North Point and walk along the waterfront promenade all the way to Sai Ying Pun. Such a city walk allows you to check in at Hong Kong's key famous spots, and it's all very exhilarating!
Walking along the waterfront boardwalk, the route can follow North Point, Causeway Bay, Wan Chai, Central, Sai Wan, and Sai Ying Pun.
1. Accommodation budget: The hotel rooms in the Central area are smaller, but the location is excellent. Generally, a four-star hotel room is about 13 square meters, and the room rate is around 600 yuan, of course, this is the non-weekend price. The room rate for 3 days and 2 nights (including taxes) is about 1300 yuan.
2. Dining budget: There are many restaurants in Hong Kong with different grades, and the most cost-effective ones are the tea restaurants. They are popular even among locals for their affordable prices, good taste, and fresh ingredients. The average consumption per person in a tea restaurant on Hong Kong Island is about 100 Hong Kong dollars, which is roughly 92 yuan in RMB. The daily dining cost is about 276 yuan, so the dining budget for 3 days is 828 yuan.
3. Ticket budget: Many scenic spots in Hong Kong are free to enter, but there are also some worth spending money to visit, such as the Peak Tram Sky Pass + Peak Tram + Madame Tussauds combo ticket for 132 yuan, Hong Kong Ocean Park for 325 yuan, Hong Kong Disneyland for 530 yuan, and the Central Ferris Wheel for 19 yuan. The total ticket budget is 1006 yuan.
4. Transportation budget: The prices for buses and subways in Hong Kong are quite a bit more expensive than in mainland cities. The bus fare from Central to Hong Kong Ocean Park is 10 yuan, the subway (Tung Chung Line to Disneyland Line) to Disneyland is 30 yuan, the fare to the Shenzhen border crossing is 27 yuan, and to Hong Kong International Airport is 33 yuan. Therefore, the minimum public transportation cost in Hong Kong is 107 yuan, and I have reserved a transportation budget of 200 yuan.
In summary, the total budget for 3 days and 2 nights in Hong Kong is 1300 yuan + 828 yuan + 1006 yuan + 200 yuan = 3334 yuan.

Beautiful evening by the seaside 🌅
North point promenade is located next to the ferry pier. It's part of the plan for the connected Harbourfront along Hong Kong Island. The construction was finished in 2018 and was open to the public in early 2019. From this waterfront, we can enjoy the beautiful view of Victoria harbor, especially when the sun is setting down in its breathtaking color.
Along the promenade, many people spend time with family and friends, especially during weekends and holidays. The mall adjacent to the promenade is another choice to explore. Another attraction is the pet garden, especially for those who want to enjoy the evening with their pets. There's also a fitness corner for exercising. let's explore

Find a Space at Oil Street Art Space
Address:
12 Oil Street, North Point, Hong Kong
Oi! was formerly a clubhouse of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club which open in 1908. In 1930s, this eye catching building with its red-brick wall was converted into staff quarters for the Goverment Supplies Department and then into a storage facility for the Antiquities and Monument Office due to the land reclamation work.
Since 2013 it's open to public. It's where we can see the art work, the product of imagination and the dream of art. In the courtyard we can find some seater to relax, enjoy the surrounding. I also saw some people doing sketching. My fav part is the living library where you can create an art piece, a birthday card, put it into the box provided and let somebody be encouraged and happy by your creation.

Inexpensive Hong Kong Style Restaurant in North Point
#hkinsider
Tai O Tak Fat is a Hong Kong-style restaurant located on King's Road North Point, opposite Fortress Hill MTR station. The restaurant opens from 07:00 AM to 11:30 PM and is suitable for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Due to its local style, the restaurant serves various dishes, i.e., hot pot, local fried rice, etc. The menu comes in two languages (Chinese and English), making it easy for non-local eaters. The price is reasonable, especially when you order a set menu.

Superb Dim Sum at Affordable Prices
Tim Ho Wan is local dim sum restaurant that offers wide variety of dim sum at reasonable price. That’s the main reason why I always go to this restaurant for dim sum. Besides, it has English menu so I could also brought non local guest to try the dim sum.
My favorite food here is BBQ pork bun. It’s super yummy when served hot. The restaurant also vegetarian friendly.
There are several branches of Tim Ho Wan in Hong Kong. I went to the North Point branch at 2-8 Wharf Street (near by City Garden Hotel), or around 7-minutes walk from MTR Fortress Hill exit B.

A mix of Shopping and Dining Options at Harbourfront Promenade.
North point promenade is relatively new in Hong Kong. The construction of the harbor north shopping mall surrounds this promenade making the place an alternative option for shopping, dining, or spending extra time by the waterfront. Located next to the North Point Ferry Pier, this promenade boasts a breathtaking view of Victoria Harbour.
I came here in the afternoon, having a cup of cappuccino and a pie while enjoying the surrounding. It’s interesting to see the birds flying low above sea level and the cruise disembarked from the pier. On top of that, the sunset completed my day off.

Sichuan Spices to Indulge your Lunch or Dinner in North Point Hong Kong
Sichuan food is best known for its hot taste, mainly dominated by dry chili and mala. You can prove this right when visiting the Little Chilli restaurant, located in North Point, Hong Kong.
The restaurant offers high-quality but adorable Sichuan food, suitable for spicy food lovers. Chicken with Chili, recommended by the restaurant chef, is one of the best. You can taste a perfect combination of Sichuan spices on it. Mandarin Fish with pickled Chinese cabbage can be a good option for you who are looking for fresh and sour soup. In addition to its yummy food, the classic interior with the unique shape of lights makes this place adorable.
The restaurant is 6-minutes walk from North Point MTR station exit A or 8 minutes from North Point Ferry pier.

Ryze at Kodak House
Last month was Karena’s birthday month and she’s invited friends from her kindergarten to celebrate with her. To accommodate 9 kids in total, I’ve choose to held a small party Ryze.
Ryze Hong Kong is the largest trampoline park in town. It has over 40 trampolines interconnecting from wall to wall, and there are foam pits and rope swings to work on like ninja trainings... Kids love this place ! We parents do think it is “taking bouncy castles at parties” to a whole new level.
Note:
1. Liability waiver to be signed before you go to enhance the check in process. We signed online, and it will stay on file for a year (you don’t have to sign again when you visit during the period)
2. Book in advance to avoid disappointment. Yes you’re allow you walk in, but there’s limited space, and you don’t know if everyone decided to go on the same day
3. Each jumper must wear their grip socks, which you can purchase it online or at counter

Artistry Brewing Company (North Point)
A leafy oasis hidden in a corner of North Point, @artistrybrewingcompany serves up impressive dishes and desserts 🪴The homey vibes made our dining experience super enjoyable (despite some bugs flying around the plants) and it almost felt like we weren’t in Hong Kong for a second
There’s a dinner time 2 course menu available from 6-9pm. We chose the daily soup (tomato miso) and baguette over the anchovy quinoa salad. Although we didn’t get any beverages, the drinks menu offers a wide range of choices from coffee to alcohol 🍺
[𝐃𝐮𝐜𝐤 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐬]
Since visiting last year, the menu hasn’t changed much except for this signature dish increasing by $30. However, it’s still super worth it as the silky duck meat came right off the bones and melted immediately in our mouths 🤤 We especially loved the innovative pairing of crispy almonds, dry fruits and a refreshing yogurt sauce.
[𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐩 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐞]
This dish felt more like Chinese fried rice instead of something you would expect to find in a western cafe 😂Despite a weird first impression, it actually tasted better than we had thought. Topped with seared scallops, the brown rice was mixed with plenty of mushrooms, iceberg lettuce and pomegranate - super healthy!
[𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐀𝐢 𝐅𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐢 𝐃𝐢 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐞]
The seafood pasta was not as outstanding compared to the other dishes, but it was still quite delicious. Quite worth the price too, as there’s a lot of mussels 🦪, crab meat 🦀️ and shrimps 🦐 that were full of flavor from the lemon zest and garlic shallots.
[𝐓𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐮]
After finishing up our mains, we asked for the cakes menu (p.s. saw that they can do birthday plating). It turned out that the tiramisu was actually a crepe cake - look at how thin each layer is 🤯 Super yummy with creamy espresso fillings and a top layer of sprinkled cocoa powder!

Coffee Obsession is a little coffee shop hidden in a secret corner of Fortress Hill. Minimalistically decorated with emerald green and white tiles inside, the outdoor alleyway is equally aesthetic with slogans painted on the walls 💚
When we arrived on a weekend afternoon, the tiny cafe was already jam packed with coffee lovers ☕️ The menu was quite limited in terms of the coffee and other drinks, but there were unexpectedly more light bites to choose from.
[Seasonal Cheesecake]
3 flavors were available - original, milk tea and yuzu
We opted for the original, which was not your typical slice of cheesecake, as it had a caramel glaze top layer, light creamy middle and soft sponge cake base. The cacao powder on the bottom and chewy flakes sprinkled on top further enhanced the flavor, making each bite an instant pleasure 🍰
Side note: I didn’t try the coffee, but my friend said it was super good, so I guess the quality lives up to its name

Clip n Climb
K is quite a fan of rock climbing and has done it a few times. So she is experienced in comparison to Mr. and myself. We do want to get our hands on rocks and perhaps climb along side with her. Then I was introduced to this place, Verm City. Apparently they are the biggest climbing gym in Hong Kong. Offering trainings (classes) or just a casual session passes to have fun climbing.
We went for the Clip n Climb. It’s a climbing park caters fun climbers of almost all ages, beginners to experts from New Zealand. Everyone will be safely attached to a safety harness that prevents from falling to the ground. I was wowed by the climbing system where you clip on your harness onto the rope, and you’re good to go up and down as you wish. Also love that there are different walls for all varying skill levels decorated with the Sanrio characters that makes everything cuter, which definitely attracts kids.
It’s mine and Mr ‘s first experience with rock climbing. We got to the top, Phew! But it’s tough, I’ve come to realise my muscles are weaker than my daughter.
Then I thought, rock climbing really should be one of the essential activity for my kids. It helps a child to work on planning as they kinda have to think of a better route up, concentrate and focus on coordinating each hand and foot, be aware of their movements, improve their fitness level and lastly, determination to challenge the climb.
Mommy thinks: 💪💪💪💪💪
K thinks: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Which means it’s really tiring to be honest, but we had so much fun! Challenging ourselves, encouraging each others 👍 definitely coming back with D .
