A Flavorful Birthday Dinner
Last month, I had to reschedule a birthday dinner with friends because I fell ill. Thankfully, they were able to accommodate the new date in early September. We chose a Japanese restaurant and dessert spot, and had a delightful and satisfying evening together.
We started our evening at Porker in Central for dinner. The last time I visited, it was at their old location, and I fell in love with the place. The new location feels more spacious, but there was a slight sewer smell that somewhat marred the dining experience.
We ordered the homemade pork dumplings for $75, which were crispy and fragrant. The juicy pork filling was delicious.
The potato salad for $70 was visually appealing. The smooth and creamy mashed potatoes had a rich potato flavor, complemented by various vegetables and sesame dressing, making it very flavorful.
The okra with plum sauce for $55 had a unique texture that I really enjoyed. The slightly sour plum sauce was refreshing and appetizing.
The Porker set meal for $240 featured crispy and non-greasy aged pork sirloin cutlets. The low-fat, tender, and juicy pork had a sweet flavor without any unpleasant porky taste. The pork tenderloin was equally soft and flavorful, served with fragrant rice and miso soup, making it a very satisfying meal.
The cheese pork patty set with bacon tomato sauce for $190 is a must-try for cheese lovers. The crispy on the outside, soft on the inside pork patty with salty cheese was incredibly flavorful. The tangy bacon tomato sauce added a refreshing touch, making it even more delicious.
The pork ribeye cutlet rice bowl with soft egg for $220 was another highlight. Mixing the runny egg yolk with the rice and pork ribeye created a wonderful blend of flavors, with the aroma of the meat and egg filling the mouth.
