The South Buffalo Horn Temple of Cambodia
#2024wish
During my recent trip to Banteay Meanchey Province in Cambodia, I had the pleasure of visiting the magnificent South Buffalo Horn Temple, also called the South Snaeng Krâbei Temple. This enchanting destination left a lasting impression on me with its breathtaking views and serene atmosphere. The moment I arrived, I was captivated by the beauty that surrounded me, instantly feeling a sense of tranquility and relaxation.
The South Snaeng Krâbei Temple is a collection of three ancient brick temples that are situated in a row on an elevated platform, aligned in a north-south direction. These temples face east and boast sandstone doorframes adorned with intricately decorated sandstone base molding. Each temple consists of multiple levels, with the size gradually decreasing as they ascend. The brickwork of the temples incorporates false doors, although only fragments of this architectural feature remain today.
On the sides of the towers, you will find the customary false doors flanked by pilasters formed by the brickwork of the main structure. The central tower still retains its exquisite pediment decoration, which was a characteristic feature of temples built during that era.
To reach the South Sneng Krabei Temple, one must travel south from the North Sneng Krabei Temple along a dirt road. As of 04/22, there was no separate access road leading directly to the temple from this dirt road. However, it is relatively easy to navigate the field by motorcycle or on foot, as the temple is not far away.
You will be delighted by the stunning scenery of this place, creating unforgettable memories during your travels. #preahviheartours #historicallandmarks #ancienttemples
