Gongwangfu is a national key cultural relics protection unit. It is the largest palace in the Qing Dynasty. It has served as a residence for peace and harmony. In 1851, Prince Gong Xin became the owner of the house, and the name of Prince Gongs House came. The Prince Gongs House has gone through the historical process of the Qing Dynasty from its peak to its demise, and it carries a wealth of historical and cultural information. Therefore, it has the saying that a Prince Gong Palace, half of the Qing Dynasty.
is extremely luxurious, and when you enter the door, you are attracted by this exquisite and dazzling sculpture. However, the repression of entering the Houmen as deep as the sea also followed. Listen to the echoes of history in a sunny corner. Compared with the Forbidden City, Prince Gongs Palace has more small and beautiful features. For example, there is a prayer wheel that the Forbidden City does not have.
Chinese people pay attention to "blessing", not only the emperor for blessing, but also the nobles and civilians are also seeking happiness. Gong Wangfu is a blessing, with the front yard Fuhe, the middle court Fuzi, and the backyard Fu Hall. A variety of bats can be seen everywhere in Gongwang. The ancients were superstitious and believed that bats and blessings could bring good luck, so the bonsai, flowers, stones, etc. in the courtyard were bat-like, and even the patterns on the windows were mostly bats.
The back garden of Prince Gongs Mansion, the pavilions and waterways are winding. Personally, it is possible to comprehensively crush the Imperial Garden of the Forbidden City. The garden consists of a rectangular pond with an area of about 200 square meters and a lake heart pavilion in the middle of the water. The mountain is filled with water and water flows from the pond into three different directions. In line with Feng Shui's theory of collecting money, it really is the house of peace.
Inviting the platform is the highest point in the park. There are two steps at the bottom of the Shangshan Road on both sides, and there are corridors without steps. Legend has it that in ancient times, people regarded the steps as bumpy. He hoped that after crossing the hardships of his early years, he would not have so many bumps in his life, and his career would be smooth, so he built this "promotion of the government." Sitting in the middle of the park for a short while, overlooking the park and enjoying the panoramic view.

Prince Kung's Mansion is a popular tourist attraction in Beijing.
🏟 Beijing is especially charming in late autumn. In this ancient and mysterious capital, on the north bank of Shichahai, lies a well-known secret place—Prince Kung's Mansion. It is the largest and most well-preserved courtyard-style mansion in Beijing. It is like a living history book, witnessing the rise and fall of the Qing Dynasty. Every inch of brick and tile is engraved with the traces of time and full of historical memories.
🏰 Prince Kung's Mansion is located at No. 17, Qianhai West Street, Xicheng District, Beijing. It is not only a national key cultural relic protection unit, but also a national first-class museum and a national 5A-level tourist attraction. As the largest mansion in the Qing Dynasty, it was once the residence of the powerful minister Heshen and Prince Yonglin. It was not until 1851 that Prince Gong Yixin took over, and the mansion was officially named "Prince Kung's Mansion." Its name has been used to this day, becoming a witness to a legend.
🕌 "The crescent river surrounds the house like a dragon, and the distant view of the Western Hills is like a tiger." A few words in the history books outline the extraordinary and magnificent appearance of Prince Kung's Mansion.
👫🏻 Walking into it, it is as if you have traveled through time and space to a world that combines classical aesthetics and royal style.
🎞 Prince Kung's Mansion covers an area of more than 60,000 square meters. It cleverly integrates the mansion and the garden, earning the reputation of "the best landscape in the city." Its architectural layout is rigorous yet flexible, with exquisite craftsmanship, staggered pavilions, winding corridors, and mountains and rivers. Every detail demonstrates the essence and ingenuity of Qing Dynasty garden architecture.
🏙 In this ancient land, the main attractions of Prince Kung's Mansion, such as the back garden, Yinan Hall, and Jiale Hall, each exude a unique charm. Especially the back garden, with ancient trees towering, pavilions and pavilions hidden among them, strange rocks, and surrounded by green water, makes people linger and forget to return, as if stepping into a flowing landscape painting.
🏛 Prince Kung's Mansion is not just a building, it is a microcosm of half of the Qing Dynasty's history. After a century of wind and rain, it still stands tall, carrying endless historical and cultural heritage. Whether it is the depth of its history or the beauty of its architecture, it is worth savoring and exploring slowly. The back building, known as the "99 and a half rooms," is like a link that cleverly separates the mansion and the garden, yet closely connects them, forming more than 30 architectural complexes and creating the legendary story of "the best landscape in the city."

Autumn in Beijing: A Gentle Whisper of History in the Depths of Hutongs
Beijing's autumn has a unique charm. It's not just the faint scent of fallen leaves in the air, but also the tranquility and depth that belong solely to this ancient city. In this city full of historical traces, there are three places worth exploring: the hutongs, Prince Gong's Mansion, and the Former Residence of Lao She. Together, they weave a poem about the past.
Hutongs: Imprints of Time in the Autumn Breeze
Beijing's hutongs are like an open history book, recording the city's past page by page. On autumn mornings, sunlight filters through sparse tree branches, casting a soft glow on the cobblestone paths. Walking into any hutong, you can feel the gentle touch of time. The benches under old locust trees, the street vendors' calls, and every doorplate hides a story, waiting for someone with a keen heart to listen.
Prince Gong's Mansion: A Royal Dream in Autumn Colors
Prince Gong's Mansion, located in the heart of Beijing, was once the residence of Heshen and later became the home of Prince Gong. In autumn, the ginkgo leaves turn golden, dressing this century-old mansion in festive attire. Strolling through it, you can clearly feel the breath of history. The exquisite carvings and ancient furnishings seem to be telling stories of that era.
Former Residence of Lao She: The Spiritual Hall of a Literary Giant
Speaking of Mr. Lao She, one cannot ignore his former residence in Beijing. Located in a courtyard on Dengshikou West Street in Dongcheng District, it is where he wrote many famous works such as "Rickshaw Boy" and "Four Generations Under One Roof." Every brick and tile here is filled with the breath of life, showcasing the most authentic side of old Beijing. In autumn, sitting here for a moment might inspire your imagination and help you feel the warmth and coldness of human relationships depicted in Lao She's writings.
Travel Tips
Walking through Hutongs: Start from Nanluoguxiang and walk north along the hutongs. You'll pass many interesting shops and art spaces along the way.
Visiting Prince Gong's Mansion: It's best to visit on a weekday morning to avoid the crowds and better enjoy the tranquility.
Former Residence of Lao She: Check the opening hours and ticket prices online in advance, and try to avoid school holidays to enjoy an uninterrupted reading time.
Autumn in Beijing is a long poem, and the hutongs, Prince Gong's Mansion, and the Former Residence of Lao She are the most moving chapters. Why not pick up your camera and capture these moments, making this unique sentiment an eternal memory in your heart.

Prince Gong Mansion
#chinatrip
Beautiful well-kept mansion that was once built by the infamous corrupt politician Heshen before being repurposed as the property for imperial princes (historical enthusiast will know all the details) and it’s lucky that so many details remain or have been preserved to show the state of their past glory.
Garden was beautiful, though hard to feel the tranquility among all the crowds.
This place is close to other key attractions, just an hour is enough to see everything here. I purchased a ticket in advance but looked like tickets could be bought onsite too. Highly recommend if you want to tick off seeing the many key sights of Beijing

The Manshion Of Prince Kung: Ancient Luxury Life
#chinatrip
Prince Gong's Mansion is located in the central part of Beijing to the west of Qianhai Lake. Of the more than sixty princely mansions of the Qing Dynasty that have survived to our time, this one has been preserved the best. The total area of the estate is 60,000 square meters, of which 32,000 are given over to the buildings of the mansion, and 28,000 are occupied by the garden.
The mansion of Prince Gong was built in 1776 for He Shen, a minister at the court of the Qianlong Emperor of the Qing Dynasty. Thanks to the emperor's trust, this influential official quickly rose through the ranks and became a very wealthy man. He lived in this mansion from 1776 to 1799. It all ended after the emperor's death. He Shen was accused of corruption, imprisoned, and then executed on the orders of the Jiaqing Emperor, the successor of the Qianlong Emperor.
In 1799, the mansion was confiscated and handed over to Prince Qing Jun, the seventeenth youngest son of the Qianlong Emperor. Then, in 1851, Emperor Xianfeng presented it to his sixth younger brother Yixin, Prince Gong. Thus, the residence got its real name the Mansion of Prince Gong. In 1980, renovation work began on Prince Gong's mansion. In 1982, the mansion was listed as a Chinese Cultural Heritage in Beijing, and in November 1996, the estate was opened to the public. In 2005, large-scale restoration work began here again, costing about 200 million yuan. They lasted three years, and on August 24, 2008, the mansion reopened as the Prince Gong Mansion Museum. The museum tells about the life of imperial families during the Qing Dynasty. In Beijing, such mansions and large private houses were often built together with gardens located behind or on the sides of the main buildings. The beautiful and elegant garden in the northern part of the estate occupies 2.8 hectares and is divided into central, eastern and western parts.

🎈Attractions: Don't miss the Three Wonders and One Treasure!
1⃣️Wonder: Western Gate
Passing through the Western Gate leads to the back garden, which was not built by Heshen but by Prince Gong Yixin during the late Qing Dynasty. Influenced by Western culture, the white marble arched gate is inscribed with "Jing Han Tai Gu" on the outside and "Xiu Yi Heng Chun" on the inside, meaning to enjoy the tranquility of ancient times and embrace the spring scenery of the whole garden, embodying Taoist philosophy.
The garden features pavilions, terraces, carved beams, and painted rafters, with winding corridors leading to secluded spots; lotus ponds, waterside pavilions, and exotic flowers and plants, resembling a fairyland on earth. It is said that there were three such Western Gates in Beijing, and only this one remains.
2⃣️Wonder: Grand Theater
The entire Grand Theater is a pure wooden structure with a three-roll gable roof, previously used for the prince to watch operas. The theater hall is very tall, but the acoustics are excellent. Nine water tanks are buried under the stage, which help transmit sound, achieving excellent sound reception and amplification effects. Even in the farthest corner of the hall, the lyrics on the stage can be heard clearly, making the design truly ingenious.
3⃣️Wonder: "Fu" Stele—"The First Blessing in the World"
The stele at Prince Gong's Mansion has remained untouched for hundreds of years, even during the confiscation of Heshen's property, the Jiaqing Emperor did not dare to move it, and it has been preserved ever since.
This "Fu" character contains many Chinese characters. The stroke in the upper right corner resembles the character "Duo" (many), the lower part is "Tian" (field), the left half looks like "Zi" (child) and "Cai" (talent), and the right half resembles the character "Shou" (longevity). The entire "Fu" character can be interpreted as "many children, many talents, much fortune, and long life." Later, Emperor Kangxi could not write such a "Fu" character again, hence it is called "The First Blessing in the World."
1⃣️Treasure: Treasure Building, also known as the Rear Cover Building
The heirloom treasures collected by Heshen are all stored in the "Rear Cover Building." This building, known as Heshen's Treasure Building, is the most magnificent structure in Prince Gong's Mansion. It is called the "Rear Cover Building" because it covers the entire mansion.

Prince Gong's Mansion
Prince Gong's Mansion||This is the home of He Shen, the first luxury residence of the Qing Dynasty that many men dream of owning. It is said that a single pillar inside is worth 2.7 billion yuan. Everyone knows He Shen was wealthy, but do you know exactly how much he had in savings? If we compare He Shen's wealth to the present day, even the combined fortunes of Warren Buffet and Bill Gates might not match up to his. However, these details are not important. What's crucial is that now, when you visit his home, you can still catch a glimpse of a corner of He Shen's residence, a secret quietly shared by San Bao. He Shen had over a hundred rooms just to store his treasures, among which was the 'Number One Blessing' calligraphy by Emperor Kangxi himself. It is said that those who get a glimpse of it are blessed. Many people have only seen He Shen on television, but what his real home contained, nobody knows. Today, Abo will take you into He Shen's house to explore how he went from a poor scholar to the world's richest man. Let's go. Everyone knows He Shen was rich, but where exactly did he make his money? This place can be considered He Shen's former financial center. The place where he received VIPs was called the 'Yin An Hall,' also known to some as the 'Silver Luan Hall.' The emperor's office was called the 'Jin Lan Hall,' so the prince's place was the 'Silver Luan Hall.' He Shen's methods of amassing wealth were actually quite clever; if he wanted your money, he would make it crystal clear. He wouldn't take your money for nothing; the money was for handling your affairs, and the expenses were yours to bear. Isn't it true that after hearing He Shen's words, you would be utterly convinced and compliant? Inside is where He Shen and his nine wives used to live and go about their daily lives. That pillar worth 2.7 billion yuan, made of golden Phoebe wood, is also located here. When Emperor Jiajing confiscated He Shen's property, he was almost driven mad with anger. He said, 'How dare you, He Shen, your residence is just like my father's Happy Longevity Hall. My father was the emperor, and when he decorated the Happy Longevity Hall, he only used pine and small-leaf rosewood, but you went ahead and used imperial wood and golden Phoebe wood.' No wonder people say that whatever the emperor's family had, He Shen's family also had; and what the emperor's family didn't have, He Shen's family still had. Now let's go see what the environment of He Shen's living place was really like. The place where He Shen lived was a two-story building, which in ancient times was known as a 'Fairy Tower.' Because the ancients believed that not touching the ground with one's feet was akin to floating and desiring to become an immortal. Look at that pillar, the priceless golden Phoebe wood pillar. Look around and see how many golden Phoebe wood pillars there are; a single one is said to be worth 2.7 billion yuan. Why is golden Phoebe wood so valuable? Because it grows very slowly, the wood is extremely hard, and it can remain undecayed for a thousand years even if buried underground. Moreover, it naturally emits a fragrance, and more importantly, cutting down one means there is one less. The central position here is He Shen's living room. Usually, He Shen and his nine wives would play mahjong here, have meals together, all in this living room. The living room is furnished with many tables and chairs, which are said to be made of precious small-leaf rosewood, and they shine brightly. This craft is known as 'rosewood inlaid with mother-of-pearl,' which involves setting polished and refined precious seashells into the rosewood.

A Tour of Prince Gong's Mansion Garden in the Rain
(Continued from the previous part) The garden, also known as Cuijin Garden, covers an area of 28,000 square meters. The garden's architecture is divided into three routes: central, eastern, and western. Scattered throughout the garden are rockeries, winding corridors, pavilions, and ponds with various plants.
Entering from the Western-style gate, one can see a large stone standing upright, resembling a carp. From another angle, it looks like a mother holding a baby, which is the famous Dule Peak. Moving forward, you reach the Bat Pond. Just as I arrived at the Anshan Hall, the rain began to fall.
Beijing's summer rain is straightforward and hearty, accompanied by rolling thunder, pouring down like beans being sifted, not even giving time to seek shelter. Then it's as if someone is pouring water from a bucket, raining down heavily. I walked along the covered corridor and inadvertently arrived at the Tingyu Pavilion. Prince Gong Yi Xin wrote a poem titled 'Old Banana Plants Waiting for the Rain.' The mansion's owner and guests used to listen to the rain hitting the banana plants here. Coincidentally, more than 100 years later, I also had the chance to enjoy this experience. I continued along the corridor to the opera tower. The opera tower is very fresh and unique, with green vines and purple flowers painted on the walls and pillars. The whole room is bright and spacious, and it is said to have particularly good acoustics.
I climbed up to the Inviting Moon Terrace. One end of the Inviting Moon Terrace was under renovation, so I returned the same way. I strolled to the Dicui Rock, and inside the Miyun Cave, there was a green stone stele with the character 'Fu' (fortune). There weren't many people because of the rain, so I went straight in to take a look. The 'Fu' character was inscribed by Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, complete with a seal, and the green stone stele was covered with glass. The Dicui Rock is quite impressive, built with layers of Taihu rocks, intricately stacked, with a pattern that resembles two dragons playing with a pearl. Afterwards, I went to the Fangtang Water Pavilion. The rain had lessened; summer rains come quickly and leave just as fast. Walking to the Yugu Pass, coming out, I saw the Dragon King Temple. This is the ancient people's awe and prayer for the natural forces. With this, the tour of the garden is complete.

A Tour of Prince Gong's Mansion on a Rainy Day: The Mansion Edition
Ticket Price: 40 RMB

Address: No. 17, Qianhai West Street, Xicheng District, Beijing
When I first arrived at Prince Gong's Mansion, it wasn't raining and there were many tourists. The weather was stuffy, and it felt a bit suffocating to visit the rooms inside. I quickly looked through the buildings along the central axis: Yigong Gate, Ergong Gate, Yin'an Hall, Jiale Hall, and the Buddha Tower. I took a closer look at Yin'an Hall, where the feudal ranking system of the Qing Dynasty, the distribution and architectural regulations of the mansions, and the military and political roles of the princes and dukes were introduced mainly through old photographs and artifacts. Jiale Hall is currently hosting an exhibition of fine craftsmanship of Qing tribute bricks, which ends on August 1st. The Buddha Tower was closed, but the whole row of prayer wheels on the corridor was an eye-opener.
After that, I moved to the west route and visited Baoguang Room and Xijin Studio. Baoguang Room provided a detailed introduction to He Shen's birth and experiences. Xijin Studio is the famous 'Nanmu Hall'—seeing is believing! The two-story nanmu fairy tower, combined with the gorgeous carpets, still-glowing tables and chairs, and golden brick floor, was a sight of sheer opulence!
From the west route to the east, the main attractions are Ledao Hall and Duofu Pavilion. Ledao Hall currently houses the Pu Xinshe Painting Draft Research Exhibition. Duofu Pavilion was originally the reception hall of Prince Gong Yixin, and the plaques are still preserved. It's rare to see the over two-hundred-year-old ancient vines in front of the door still lush and thriving.
Behind the mansion is a 160-meter-long double-layered rear building with a through ridge. The gray tiles and green bricks are tall and stately, and the assorted brick carvings on the walls are ingeniously designed. It is popularly said that He Shen could tell what treasures were stored in a room just by looking at the window designs.
Behind the rear building is the garden. (To be continued)

A Prince Gong's Mansion, half of the Qing Dynasty's history!
Prince Gong's Mansion is the largest existing royal mansion from the Qing Dynasty, built in the forty-second year of the Qianlong era (1777), and it witnessed the rise and fall of the Qing Dynasty.
From Qianlong to Xuantong, the first owner was He Shen, and the last was Prince Gong Yi Xin, spanning seven generations of Qing emperors. Hence the saying, 'A Prince Gong's Mansion, half of the Qing Dynasty's history.'
Prince Gong's Mansion is divided into two parts: the mansion itself and the back garden. It usually takes about 2-4 hours to visit.

Want to see the residence of He Shen? Come visit the Prince Gong's Mansion in Beijing
Prince Gong's Mansion and its garden, a national 5A-level tourist attraction, is located along the western shore of Qianhai and the southern bank of Shichahai. It is the largest princely mansion of the Qing Dynasty and was once the residence of He Shen and Prince Qing Yonglin. In the first year of the Xianfeng era (1851), Prince Gong Yi Xin became the owner of the mansion, hence the name Prince Gong's Mansion. The mansion and its garden have witnessed the rise and fall of the Qing Dynasty, giving rise to the saying, 'One Prince Gong's Mansion, half of the Qing Dynasty's history.'
A visit to Prince Gong's Mansion reveals the origin of the 'Child-Giving Guanyin' stone. The Western-style gate is one of the three wonders of the mansion, the other two being the Rear Covered Building and the Grand Theatre Building. The Grand Theatre Building is the only fully enclosed theater of its kind in China, and the Xi Jin Zhai (Nanmu Hall) inside is extremely luxurious with its 2.4 billion yuan pillars and thousands of chairs. This place is also the filming location for the TV series 'My Fair Princess,' and many visitors imitate the actors from the series to take photos and check in.

Prince Gong’s Mansion Garden: The Ancient and Elegant Prince’s Mansion
#BeijingAttractions
The Garden of Prince Gong's Mansion located in the center of Beijing is definitely my most unforgettable trip to traditional culture so far. This Qing Dynasty palace, which has gone through hundreds of years of wind and frost but is still well-preserved, perfectly integrates the ancient architectural culture of the capital with the elegant garden scenery, leaving a unique experience mark for me.
The first step into Prince Gong's Mansion is as if you are already immersed in the mansion of an ancient noble family. All you can see are the neat and elegant courtyard building layouts, as well as the quiet garden waterways meandering among them. Walking along the bluestone path inward, you can see unique landscapes such as antique archways, gates, pavilions and pavilions everywhere.

Nestled within the alleyways by the Houhai Lake, there lies a royal mansion that rivals the grandeur of the imperial palace - the residence of the handsome Qing Dynasty official, He Shen, known as the Prince Gong Mansion. This architectural marvel blends Eastern and Western styles, exuding exquisite elegance. Its Feng Shui design is truly unparalleled. Embark on a journey with a compass in hand, exploring the Prince Gong Mansion and immersing yourself in the enchanting power of traditional Chinese Feng Shui culture...
🏯︱A One-Minute Introduction to the Prince Gong Mansion
﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉
The Prince Gong Mansion is the largest royal mansion of the Qing Dynasty, once inhabited by He Shen and Yong Lin, and later by Prince Gong Yixin, from whom the mansion derives its name. Spanning approximately 60,000 square meters, the mansion boasts over 30 diverse architectural complexes. Its rear garden, according to historical records, was rebuilt on the site of a Ming Dynasty garden, thus possessing a longer history. The mansion and its garden have witnessed the rise and fall of the Qing Dynasty, hence the saying, "One Prince Gong Mansion, half of Qing Dynasty history."
🏯︱The Feng Shui of the Prince Gong Mansion
﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉
The fortune of the Prince Gong Mansion is attributed to its Feng Shui. Despite enduring the confiscation of property by Emperor Jiaqing, invasions by the Anglo-French Allied Forces and the Eight-Nation Alliance, and various "movements," the mansion remains relatively well-preserved, a testament to more than mere "luck." It is no exaggeration to say that the Prince Gong Mansion is a stellar representative of China's top-tier Feng Shui architecture. Its impeccable Feng Shui, priceless decorations, and meticulous details make it worthy of being called China's premier luxury residence.
◾In terms of location, the Prince Gong Mansion is situated on Beijing's water dragon vein. It is said that Beijing has two dragon veins: the earth dragon, which is the Forbidden City's dragon vein, and the water dragon, which refers to the line of Shichahai, Houhai, and Beihai.
◾In terms of layout, the Prince Gong Mansion presents a narrow front and wide rear, a Feng Shui design symbolizing "attracting nobility and gathering fortune." The "Zhai Jing" even states that a building with a narrow front and wide rear, resembling a "coffin shape," is a residence of wealth and nobility.
Moreover, the mansion's Treasure Tower with 99.5 rooms and the 10,000 Fu (blessings) within the mansion are all meticulously designed.
