Arts at Rendezvous Hotel

I am amazed to find so many artistic paintings surrounding the rendezvous hotel. Those paintings are from the local artistes. At one corner is also the history of the rendezvous hotel, and how it has developed from the past till now. There are also street art paintings along the wall , all the way from the hotel main entrance, to the hotel atrium, and towards the hotel lobby area. You can feel the artistic ambiance by looking at those paintings. Even at the lift lobby, you also get to find romantic dancing pictures of a couple which is very heart warming. At the other side are the paintings relating to cats. You will love them.

I love the rendezvous hotel located opposite the Singapore management university. The hotel is just a few minutes walk to the respective attractions and shopping mall. It is just a ten minute walk to the plaza Singapura mega shopping mall, with many dining restaurants and retail outlets. There is also a movie theatre and an arcade at the higher floor. A five minutes walk brings you to the Singapore museum where you can explore and discover more of the past of Singapore history. Take a five minute walk down the road, and you will reach the fort canning park where you can get close to nature. Admission is free. Get to explore the fort canning tunnel, the fort canning gate, and the beautiful gardens.

Address - 30 Prinsep St, #01-02, Singapore 188647
Ambiance/Facilities - Air-conditioned
Highlights - Chinese style BBQ sticks & dishes
Avg. Price per Person - $20-40/pax
Rating - This is a Chinese Dongbei style eatery serving up sumptuous BBQ sticks and dishes. Various BBQ grilled items served on sticks like chīx wings, shredded potato, veg etc all tasted very flavourful. Alcoholic beverages are also available. Very enjoyable eatery to visit with friends to eat and catch up if one enjoys spicy BBQ food in general.

🌟Art-Inspired Rendezvous Hotel🌟
Rendezvous Hotel is very centrally located in the Bras Basah Arts and Heritage district. You could walk to Bras Basah, Dobby Ghaut and City Hall MRT stations, putting it on practically every one of the major train lines.Once done with check-in, noticed and like the way they use marbles to mark out the floor levels in the lift landing. I was put up in a club room up on the 11th floor, the top floor and also where club room check-in takes place.
The room is pretty snug – most of it is taken up by the large bed. Not much to say about it other than it’s a standard and comfortable hotel room – they put up little bits of art-themed artwork around the room, though it’s pretty generic stuff that’s replicated across the level. The bathroom is also pretty small with a shower (no bathtub) and an awesome Japanese-type toilet bowl with the controls and seat warmer, and it comes stocked with FCUK toiletries.
The breakfast selection naturally is smaller because there are no live stations up here, but there is a lot more quiet and privacy to enjoy your breakfast in peace ✌️. Straits Cafe is known for their durian pastries and nyonya laksa, but it felt a little bit weird in casual pyjama type clothes in a street-facing restaurant!
I also had some time to check out the pool on the 3rd level, nice quiet and private even with the buildings all around. There’s a heated jacuzzi as well which was such a nice place to soak in. For the fitness buffs, a pretty decent looking gym is also available on this level.
The hotel stay was a good one overall, great location for anyone who likes to be right in the center of things and convenience of being able to walk to many attractions nearby. However as someone who actually works in the arts, perhaps my standards are a little higher, but I think they have some way to go before actually being an art-inspired hotel though!

Rendezvous Club Lounge
9 Bras Basah Road, Singapore 189559
The club lounge at hotel rendezvous has been one of the best I have enjoyed in Singapore. The club lounge food varieties are one of the best in Singapore. There is satay, pastries, beef, salmon, deserts, and sandwiches.
For timing apart from the lunch and dinner hours, guests can visit the lounge to have a cup of coffee or soft drink. Guests can also enjoy the protein nut bars and twg in the lounge area. I was amazed by the assortment of complimentary cookies and biscuits that guests can choose from. They were crunchy and tasty. My favourite would have to be the chocolate cookies.
Be sure to try out their club lounge when you are staying at the rendezvous hotel in Singapore.

Tteokbokki Hotpot
Where - 90 Minutes
Address - 9 Bras Basah Road #01-01 Rendezvous Hotel (189559)
Highlights - Korean Hotpot buffet
Total Price - < $60 (4 pax)
Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (super value!)
Opening hours - 10am till 11pm daily
Have always been wanting to try Korean rice cakes cooked in Korean flavour broth/soup and there’s no better time than now when we got the buy-1-get-1-free promotion.
The place is “90 Minutes” as the name suggests. Each buffet meal has a time limit of 90 minutes which we feel is more than enough. Unless you wish to drink and chat the night. Then do check with the restaurant staff. For us it’s more than enough time.
Apart from the commonly available meats and vegetables, they also gave some cooked stuff and I highly recommend their Korean-style fried chicken wings. Very flavourful and crispy.
It’s a buffet but for hygiene purpose, they will pick the items that we want on our behalf at the counter. The rice cakes are quite unique and it’s chewy. There’s sweet potato, cheese, pumpkin and the hollow types. We went for 3 rounds. There’s also fishcakes on skewers which you can eat it straight away on some broth. We dip it into the soup though.
For soup base, there are a few types of various spiciness. We chose non spicy and added the kimchi sides into the soup. Quite nice with a tinge of kimchi spicy.
We were so full that we forgot to keep some tummy space for their fried rice. It’s quite a creative concept where they add rice into the left over soup in the hotpot since it’s already very flavourful. Stir fry it and here you go! Will come back again for the fried rice.

Ambiance/Facilities - Air-conditioned, Clean

Avg. Price per Person - $16nett
Rating - This no-frills air-con Korean Hotpot buffet is located at Ground floor outside of Rendezvous hotel. The eatery is clean and has staff stationed at the ingredients sector to help take ingredients of patron's choice. This is rare arrangement and effort made by non high end eatery but much appreciated safety measures and ease of minds dining here!
Spoilt for choice for there's many ingredients like chicken slices, pork collar, pork belly, prawns, clams, different varieties of Toppokkī (Korea rice cakes), Korean fish cake skewers etc to be immersed into 6 different combinations of Korean sauce-based Hotpot broth!
Make sure to save some time towards the 90minutes dining time for boss to stir up some kimchi seaweed frīed rice with the simmered broth so yummy! Definitely worth to visit and we enjoyed our meal so much given its low price point for such variety of buffet!#eatsg #foodie

Yummy mala tang in Chinatown
I am a big lover of anything spicy and absolutely love mala. So recently a new mala tang store opened. It is directly at the left of Chinatown mrt exit C, and in front of the peoples park complex door.
I must say that I love their pricing! One of the cheapest for mala tang I have ever seen in Singapore. They go by weight and doesn't matter if its meat or vegetables. It is priced at $1.98 per 100g. Typically, a $12 bowl can be shared among two person and it is very fulling! Their soup based is pork broth and I love the thickness of it. You can either choose from normal pork broth, tomato or mala for the soup base.
Another must order here is their grilled sotong. It's juicy and the spices they used on it is so yummy. If you are around Chinatown, do drop by to try!
Place: Jia Xiang Mala Tang (directly in front of the people's park complex door from MRT exit C)

From 11am to 5pm, there will be cookies, tea, coffee and light refreshments available for you. At 6pm to 8pm you can enjoy the evening dinner cocktails which are light meals. They include croissant with ham and cheese, tuna puff, fruits, and alcoholic drinks. It is a simple dinner but a fulfilling one. Lounge Lobby

During my stay at the rendezvous hotel in Singapore, while waiting for my room to be ready, I sat at the lobby lounge to take a look. The lounge has several art pieces. Some depict our local resident public housing where we can see cats around the corner.
I especially love the butterfly artpiece located at the hotel back entrance near the bus stop. It was made of a few hundred butterflies. I also like the huge light partition in the middle of the hotel lobby that makes it look so grand and unique.
I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. I will be back again for another stay soon. The staff were professional and excellent. The suite room was clean and great.

Leisure Singing is one of my favourite pastime hobbies. In Singapore, there are a few karaoke outlets. One of the more economical prices would be the Teo Heng studio. They have few branches in Singapore, especially within the town area. The one that I used to go to, is at the rendezvous hotel outlet. They have small, medium, and large rooms. The prices were charged based on the number of hours you use the room. Their sound system was great. You can bring in your water while singing inside the room. This is really a plus point. Singing fans would definitely love to visit this place.
