This park is a fantastic place which is worth visiting in Quzhou, Zhejiang Province. There is huge carving sculptures and great lakes with carving zoo animals museum. Also there is ice palace, where the temperature is lower than 0°degree. There is many sculptures made from ice cube. From October there is opened a glass bridge under the park and there is every day shows with light and music from 6.30 p.m. The prices are not cheap but I highly recommend to visit that place!

Cons: You have to come to Kaihua to experience it!
In today's society, information is open and transparent, and logistics are well-developed, so it's hard to find a good place that is not known or imitated by the outside world. But if you come to Kaihua, a small city in Zhejiang, you will definitely feel the same as I do: the things here cannot be copied by other cities, and you can only experience them in Kaihua.
.
🍲 Clear Water Fish & Kaihua Green Snail, the first time I came to Kaihua, these two delicacies really subverted my perception.
🐟 The old saying goes, "When the water is too clear, there are no fish," but in Kaihua, the farming of clear water fish can be traced back to the Northern Song Dynasty. Today, there is a Clear Water Fish Museum in Kaihua, and a Clear Water Fish Culture Festival is held. There are also folk customs such as "sticking fish tails," which are unique in the country.
🔩 Kaihua Green Snail is also not found elsewhere. This type of snail is relatively small, with green meat and a more delicate taste, making it irresistible.
📌 Root Palace Buddhist Kingdom, a 5A-level scenic spot in Kaihua, is very suitable for shooting Hanfu. By visiting the root carvings here, you can learn about the world! From gods and Buddhas to the twenty-four filial pieties; from the Qin King to the fifty-six ethnic groups, there are countless root carvings here, and each one is exquisitely carved and can withstand careful scrutiny. Unlike natural scenery, ancient villages, and towns, the world of root carvings is too costly and difficult to replicate elsewhere.
So, if you want to travel without following the trend and want to find a unique place, Kaihua is the right choice!

Rohan Hall in Gen Palace Buddha Kingdom, the hall with the most root carvings.
There are more than 20,000 root carvings in Quzhou Gen Palace Buddha Kingdom Cultural Tourism Zone. The largest root carving is a 9.9-meter-high, 40-ton Shakyamuni Buddha, while the hall with the most root carvings is the Five Hundred Arhats Hall.
The five hundred arhats are all on display, with a majestic momentum, stretching for more than 680 meters, arranged in a square shape along the corridor. The overall layout is thick and ancient, and it is known as the best in China and the best in the world. If you stop for a minute in front of each arhat, you won't be able to get out of this arhat formation in eight hours.
The arhats are either in groups of three or five, or sitting alone; whispering or meditating with their eyes closed; scratching their ears and cheeks, or looking solemn... Five hundred arhats, five hundred expressions, both the mystery of the Buddha and the variety of life.
These five hundred arhats were created by Master Xu Guqing after more than ten years of careful preparation and a huge investment to collect thousand-year-old longan and lychee wood root piles from all over the country.

Gengong Buddha Country Children's Fun Park, the animals here are ferocious and gentle.
There is a unique zoo in the world in the Kaihuagen Palace Buddha Kingdom Children's Fun Park in Quzhou, Zhejiang. The animals inside are tall and mighty, with teeth and claws showing. They look scary, but are actually gentle. Because no matter how much you tease it, it will just pretend to be angry.
These animals, both physical and spiritual, are all carved from tree roots. There are more than 300 species of mythical and legendary animals, extinct animals, rare animals and ordinary animals, forming a root-carved "Crazy Animal City".
There are dinosaurs from 500 million years ago, extinct prehistoric mammoths, lively and cute kangaroos, agile antelopes, elegant giraffes, cute and cute koalas, tall and majestic elephants, majestic tigers, and other shapes of all kinds. The twelve zodiac signs, various marine creatures...each animal is carved lifelike, and it seems that only one person is missing the "finishing touch".
These animals are located in the Root Palace Buddha Country Children's Fun Park, which is the only children's fun park in the world with the theme of "root" culture. The animals in the hall are either happy or sad; they love each other or they fight; they are fierce or docile... They are all much taller than the prototypes. Even a small cicada can grow to over half a meter tall. .
Although this zoo is designed for children, it is suitable for all ages, middle-aged, young and young. Tourists can easily find happiness and acquire knowledge.

A Journey of Art and Zen at the Root Palace Buddhist Kingdom
The Root Palace Buddhist Kingdom is renowned for its exquisite root carving art, resembling a wooden Buddhist kingdom on earth, filled with craftsmanship and Zen. Upon entering the scenic area, one is immediately captivated by the unique artistic atmosphere. Massive wooden sculptures are scattered throughout the park, as if each piece of wood has been given life, coexisting harmoniously with nature. The park exudes a strong Buddhist ambiance, with intricately carved Buddha statues radiating serenity, bringing a sense of peace and detachment from the worldly chaos.
Wandering along the winding paths, each root carving piece tells a unique story and conveys a distinct artistic conception. Some symbolize scenes from Buddhist stories, while others depict the vitality of nature. These master sculptors use natural tree roots as their material, transforming wood into lifelike Buddha statues and landscape scenes, showcasing their creativity and respect for the material. Whether it's the majestic Buddha statues or the delicate carvings of flowers and birds, the details are meticulous and lifelike, making this wooden world seem like a miniature pure land of Buddhism.
In the Root Palace Buddhist Kingdom, strolling among these artworks brings a sense of spiritual cleansing. This place is not just a venue for displaying root carvings but also a spiritual haven for contemplating and experiencing Buddhist Zen. Each piece seems to narrate the wisdom of Buddhism, drawing people into the intersection of art and the soul. This visit to the Root Palace Buddhist Kingdom is not only a visual feast but also a profound journey of soul purification and inner peace.

Quzhou Impressions: Chinese culture as recorded in root carvings.
After leaving the second area of the Root Palace Buddha Kingdom, we arrived at the third area, the Chinese Culture Root Carving Art Museum.
There was an event going on here, with lion dances, children creating calligraphy and paintings on site, and explanations and introductions. It felt like a provincial or even national event.
Although there were more people here than in the first and second areas, it didn't affect those of us who really wanted to visit.
What attracted me most about this museum was the series of root carvings "Daoxing Tianxia" that recorded Laozi's life from birth, study, growth to preaching. After a tour, I took pictures of this group of root carvings and shared them with the readers who are destined to read them.
Another interesting thing is that the root carving art records the living conditions and classic customs of 56 ethnic groups. I took special pictures of the root carving displays of the Han, Mongolian, Manchu, Gaoshan, and Oroqen ethnic groups.
In the Chinese Culture Root Carving Art Museum, you can not only appreciate the art of root carving, but also learn more about the condensed history of Chinese civilization and the living conditions of various ethnic groups. It's worth reading carefully.

The next hidden gem city is here!
👍️Recommended Reason: Kaihua County, Quzhou City, Zhejiang Province, a small county with a long history, fresh air, and simple folk customs. It also has a 5A-level scenic spot - 'the world's largest root carving museum,' suitable for people of all ages to visit.
🚉Transportation Guide: There are train and bus stations, and self-driving is also possible. The transportation is convenient.
📅Travel Guide: The Root Carving Buddha Kingdom Scenic Area is very large, with a rich variety of root carving works displayed in different series. The architecture is also very distinctive. Enter the scenic area early in the morning and take your time to appreciate it, which will take half a day. In the afternoon, take a Citywalk in the small town. The environment is good and suitable for relaxation.
🏨Accommodation Guide: Both Quzhou and Kaihua are fine. I arrived in Kaihua at midnight and stayed in an economical hotel .
💗Other Tips: The people of Kaihua are very friendly. The ticket seller at the scenic spot proactively offered a discount ticket plan, saving money. The food in a randomly chosen small shop on the street was delicious and cheap.

This overlooked 5A scenic spot is amazing, featuring a world of wood
When it comes to handicrafts, many people are familiar with them. These are items with certain artistic attributes that can meet the daily needs of the people, possessing both decorative and functional qualities. Handicrafts originate from people's lives but create value beyond life itself, representing the crystallization of human wisdom and modern industrial technology.
In our daily lives, handicrafts come in many varieties, including wood, ivory, bamboo, carbon, jade carving, colored carving, resin, cultural walnuts, ceramics, paper cutting, and more, all of which have stunning finished products.
Especially wood carvings, such as rosewood, boxwood, pearwood, almond wood, and camphor wood, which possess all the advantages of carving. These are top-quality materials suitable for carving complex structures and intricate shapes. They are also less likely to break or get damaged during production and preservation, making them highly collectible.
So, where should one go to experience the charm of handicrafts, especially wood carvings? Uncle Cricket suggests visiting an overlooked 5A scenic spot that is amazing, featuring a world of wood, known as the 'First Wonder Garden in the World.' If you like it, you should definitely visit!

Travel and leisure, the tung flowers in Kaihua are blooming
Every May, the tung flowers all over the mountains in Kaihua will compete to bloom. Clusters of pure white flowers form continuous patches, just like snow covering one mountain after another.
In the dense forest, the fragrance of flowers lingers and the air seems exceptionally fresh and pleasant. The trunks of the tung trees stand tall, and the canopies stretch out to their heart's content. The tung blossoms bloom with a reserved and delicate beauty, pure white and elegant, truly inspiring endless affection. When the breeze carries the drizzle, the mature petals fall like flying snow, gently covering the ground, laying a pristine white carpet on the forest paths.
Beside the mountain road, the stream tinkles, and occasionally tung flower petals fall into the water. The white tung flowers bob along the winding stream, drifting leisurely, taking away the solitude of the mountains.
The tung flowers cover the mountains, weaving into a dreamy and enchanting sea of flowers. If one were to fly a drone and look down from above, the tung flowers would seem like white clouds scattered from the sky, rippling in the green ocean, deeply conveying the gentleness and beauty of nature. It's as if the earth's tenderness is quietly blooming, each tung flower a moving poem left by nature.
These tung flowers all over the mountains create a unique romantic floral event in Kaihua in May, becoming an extremely beautiful landscape in the mountains.

The world looks to China for root carving, and China looks here for root carving
The hidden gems of Zhejiang are too numerous, and I was amazed by the Kaihua Root Palace Buddha Country! Even braving the rain to go was worth it☔️
👀About Root Palace Buddha Country:
A 5A scenic area with a vast area✨, it is currently the only one in the world🌍 themed on 'root carving culture' cultural tourism area‼️
✨Main attractions:
✅Root Carving
The world looks to China for root carving, and China looks to Kaihua for root carving. It must be said that the root carving works inside are truly exquisite and ingeniously crafted🫣
The largest root carving of Sakyamuni, the main Buddha, weighs more than 40 tons and is 9.9 meters tall, which can be called the heaviest in the world‼️ The corridor of the Five Hundred Arhats root carvings is even more breathtaking. Each Buddha statue has a different expression, and the character's portrayal is integrated with the natural shape of the tree roots, which is really magical✨✨✨
⚠️However... there are really too many root carvings, and you might get a bit of aesthetic fatigue after seeing too many😑😑😑 so there's no need to see them all👋
✅Garden Landscape
The root carvings are already amazing, but what attracts me more is the architectural landscape of the scenic area‼️ The scenic area is really super large, like a large garden! Bonsai, strange rocks, vegetation, lakes, a different view at every step, full of artistic conception
It was still raining when I went🌧️ Walking in the misty garden, watching the blooming magnolia flowers, feeling the breath of spring, who understands this feeling🥹
✅Glass Bridge
There are some charged items in the scenic area, and I think the glass bridge is still worth checking out! You can overlook the scenic area and capture a panoramic view! 60💰, it was half price at 30 when I went🫣
⏰Tour Duration: 3-4 hours
🎫Ticket: Free admission in March
🐶Pets: Not allowed, but dogs can be kept at the north gate
📍Address: No.1 Gen Palace Buddha Country Road, Kaihua, Quzhou, Zhejiang
🚄Transportation: Self-driving🚗 is more convenient, public transportation can take the high-speed train to Quzhou, then take the bus from Quzhou to Kaihua Bus Station, and then walk about 1 kilometer to arrive.

With a single stroke, the universe is carved
In Kaihua County, Quzhou, Zhejiang, there is the 5A Root Palace Buddha Country Cultural Tourism Area, also known as "Kaihua County Root Expo Garden". It is estimated that most people in China have not visited, but this place will definitely amaze you with its breathtaking root carving art.
Each and every one of the root carving works, crafted from precious woods, is lifelike and exhibits a myriad of postures, truly unparalleled and of extremely high artistic value. Hence the saying, "With a single stroke, the universe is carved."
The entire scenic area is absolutely unique in the world of tourism landscapes. It conveys philosophy through roots and carries humanistic connotations with natural charm, blending root carving, stone appreciation, bonsai, and ancient garden architecture. It integrates five thousand years of China's exquisite traditional culture with strange roots and woods, creating a tranquil and elegant picture of harmony between man and nature, captivating visitors to linger and indulge.
If you have the chance, you must go there to see and appreciate it!

Check out the lesser-known 5A scenic spot in Zhejiang - the Root Palace Buddha Land in Kaihua, Quzhou
Visiting Quzhou during the May Day holiday is a wise choice! Compared to other places, Quzhou is truly a rare paradise, with few people and beautiful scenery. I highly recommend everyone to come and experience it~
⭐⭐Root Palace Buddha Land Cultural Tourism Area⭐⭐
I want to introduce you to a unique tourist holy land in the world - the Root Palace Buddha Land. This is the only tourist area in the world themed on root culture, worthy of being a national 5A-level tourist scenic spot! Here, you can appreciate thousands of large-scale root art works, including more than a thousand giant root carvings of Buddhist culture series. These works perfectly combine root carving art and Buddhist culture, giving people a sense of shock. For example, there is a root carving Buddha statue of Sakyamuni, weighing 40 tons and reaching 9.9 meters high (Figure 3), which is simply amazing!
🚔Transportation: It's very convenient to drive or take a taxi!
🎫Ticket: The usual ticket price is 80 yuan, and it will be slightly more expensive on holidays
⏱️Opening hours: From 8:30 in the morning to 4:30 in the afternoon
⌛Tour time: Half a day is recommended for touring, but if you have enough time, it's suggested to spend a whole day!
🔍Tour tips:
1. The scenic area is very large, with south and north entrances, please plan your route in advance.
2. In addition to root carving art, there are many other highlights, such as the aerial glass plank road (Figure 5) and the peacock pavilion. There are also wonderful 'Root Palace Night Banquet' performances in the evening, with a wide variety of content.
3. This place is very suitable for relaxing, walking around and appreciating, and you can also take very classical photos haha. What's even better is that there are fewer people during the off-peak tourist season, so you can enjoy the tranquility and the fun of taking photos.

The trip to the Root Palace Buddha Country in Quzhou, Zhejiang, is less crowded and niche
🚶🏻♂️The Root Palace Buddha Country is a root carving culture museum located in Kaihua County, Quzhou City. It is a 5A-level scenic spot, about an hour and a half's drive from Quzhou city center.
👉🏻The museum mainly exhibits the works of Master Xu Guqing and his disciples. The main theme is Buddhist statues, and there are also historical, mythological, and animal-themed statues. The Maitreya Buddha Hall and the Five Hundred Arhats Hall are very shocking. I especially like the Arhat Hall. The five hundred Arhats have different postures, their expressions are vivid and natural, their eyes are bright, and they seem to be about to speak to me the next second. The exhibition line design is also very smooth. The order of the exhibits in the History and Culture Hall is very confusing.
👉🏻The garden landscape in the scenic spot is also great. It is professionally designed, not the kind of forced assembly line landscape. There are 15 small white cars in the scenic area, which can be called and stopped at any time, which is very convenient. Finally, I have to complain about the shopping point at the exit. It's very long. A short 10-meter straight line distance has made almost four hundred meters of shopping channels. I thought I was in the wrong place several times.
🏞️Scenic Spot Features:
✅Root Carving Works
The Buddha statues with different postures and lifelike appearances, a total of more than 4,000 root carving works are shocking.
✅Glass Skywalk
The original price is 60, and it was half price when I went. Friends who are not afraid of heights must go. You can overlook the entire scenic area from above, which is especially beautiful.
✅Less Crowded
Going there once feels like a private booking.
💰Ticket: Night scene 55/person, refundable at any time. (Daytime 120/person, free admission from Monday to Friday on non-holidays.)
The overall play time is 3-4h

The resources are huge and the types are rich, which is a shocking world. The only root cultural theme tourist area is well known both at home and abroad.
In the "Gen Palace Buddhism", you can appreciate thousands of ingenious root carvings. Every piece of work is worthy of a city. It is amazing. It is no wonder that there is a saying: "The world root carving looks at China, the Chinese root carving looks Kaihua." After you come here, you can feel that this sentence is truly deserved.
Various kinds of roots, big or small, different shapes, re-energize in the hands of the artists, and also reflect the industriousness and wisdom of the Chinese people, and the "harmony between man and nature" in Chinese culture. The concept is vividly displayed, so that every visitor who comes here will never forget.
