The mysterious disappearance of the Guge Kingdom.
The Guge Kingdom lasted for more than 700 years. It was built on a cliff, with the palace perched at the top. It spanned the Song, Yuan, and Ming dynasties, and at its peak, its territory covered the entire Ngari region. Unfortunately, it eventually disappeared from history due to internal strife and foreign invasions.
If you don't suffer from altitude sickness and have a passion for history and culture, this is definitely a great place to visit! However, climbing stairs at an altitude of 3,700 meters is quite challenging, and you'll need to take breaks frequently. But don't worry, take your time, enjoy the scenery, and you'll eventually appreciate its charm. There are also exquisite murals inside, which are well-preserved.
Tour route→
Follow the stairs up, and you'll pass by five halls: Tara Hall → White Hall → Red Hall → Yamantaka Hall → Mandala Hall. Note that Mandala Hall is at the highest point and is not open to the public. White Hall and Yamantaka Hall are usually locked, and you need a guide to visit them. The guides here are quite good, providing detailed explanations of the architecture and the stories behind them.

In Ngari, I experienced a deep connection between my soul and nature.
On my self-drive trip in Ngari, I encountered countless heartwarming moments.
🌄 I stood on the Zhabura Earth Observation Deck, where the endless snow-capped mountains and blue sky formed a magnificent picture. At that moment, I was deeply shocked by the magic of nature.
🌅 Driving through the magical land of Xiayigou Earth Forest, every ravine and every light and shadow seemed to tell an ancient and mysterious story, making me feel like I was in a fairyland forgotten by time.
🏛 Standing at the entrance of the Guge Ruins, I seemed to hear the whispers of history echoing in my ears. The broken walls told the story of a thousand years of glory and vicissitudes, making me deeply in awe of the ancient civilization on this land.
🌄🌅 On this vast land, I found my own poetry and distance. Every encounter and farewell made me cherish every moment of this journey even more.

Guge Kingdom | The Kingdom That Disappeared Overnight in Tibet

🎈 Walk to the left from the sightseeing bus parking area to reach the Corpse Cave. To be honest, there is not much to see. There is only a cave entrance that you cannot enter. The cave is pitch black, and you cannot see anything. You can only smell a foul odor.

Ruins of the Guge Kingdom, Tibet | A kingdom that disappeared overnight.
The ruins of the Guge Kingdom are located in Zanda County, Ngari Prefecture, Tibet. It is an ancient castle with a history of thousands of years.
The architecture here is unique and full of mystery. You can see ancient temples, palaces, city walls, and caves, as if they are still telling the story of its former glory.
After the fall of the Tubo Kingdom, Tibet was in a state of division for a long time. The descendants of Langdarma established regimes in different regions, among which the Ali royal family had the greatest influence and the richest historical heritage. After Jide Nimagun ruled Ali, his second son, Zhaxi Gun, conquered Xiangxiong and established the Guge Kingdom.
According to records, the Guge Kingdom was passed down for sixteen generations, and the ancient castle of Zanda was gradually expanded from the 10th to the 16th century. In 1633, the upper monks of Guge joined forces with the Ladakh royal family to overthrow the Guge Kingdom.
The once prosperous Guge Palace gradually declined, weathered by wind and rain, and has stood the test of time.

⭐️Mount Kailash (Pulan County, Ali): The view is better from the plank road.
⭐️Zada Clay Forest: No suitable viewing platform was found.
⭐️Ruins of the Guge Kingdom (National Highway 1, Zada County, Ali): It's worth spending 2-3 hours to climb and see the ruins here. Basically, you won't have altitude sickness when you get here. If you have limited time or need to save energy, it's not recommended to go to the corpse cave.

Who knows about the kingdom that disappeared overnight?
The Guge Kingdom Ruins in Burang County, Ngari Prefecture, Tibet, are 600 meters wide and 1,200 meters long, covering an area of 720,000 square meters. The mountain is over 300 meters high, with over 600 houses, pagodas, and caves, forming a large group of ancient buildings. The buildings are divided into three levels: the palace, the temple, and the houses. The well-preserved buildings include the temple and five halls. The temple contains remnants of clay Buddha statues and murals, as well as portraits of Tubo Zanpu and princes from various generations. The murals, clay sculptures, and carvings in the ruins are of great value. They are complete works left over from the Guge Kingdom.
The Guge Kingdom Ruins are located at the end of National Highway 565. The entrance fee is CNY 65.
The Guge Kingdom was a dynasty established by the descendants of the Tubo Kingdom in the Ngari region after the Tubo Kingdom collapsed. It was established in the 9th century AD. However, the establishment, prosperity, and maintenance of the Guge Kingdom for nearly a thousand years are all mysteries, including its regime, ethnic composition, and royal succession. The ruins only prove the existence of the Guge Kingdom, and everything else is still being explored and researched.
Whether it is worth visiting here is subjective. You can only imagine its past glory. In such a high-altitude and remote place, it is a mystery how the dynasty was maintained. In short, it is a mysterious existence and a mysterious site.

[Tibet Aliguge Dynasty ruins] 10 years ago, I accidentally saw a photo of the ancient city with golden light under the afterglow of the setting sun. I was surprised that there was such a place, and I was always looking for it. The direction. Later, I learned that this place is the site of the Guge Dynasty in Ali, Tibet.
There is a saying that "the heart is in, the dream is in", almost 10 years later, I came here personally, and again and again. The ancient site of the Guge Kingdom is a plateau ancient city. It is located on a mountain hill on the bank of the Xiangquan River in the Zhabjang district of Ali Zanda. It covers an area of about 180,000 square meters and is one of the first batch of key cultural relics protection units in the country. Ancient buildings provide important material information.
Every time I try to take pictures of everything I see in my eyes, no matter whether its dark or dark, I dont think its enough. I want to come here again. Im here. .
TSKN.
The site of the Guge Dynasty in Ali, Tibet, is located in the Xiangquan River Valley, 18 kilometers west of Zanda County, and stands on the steep hills. It used to be the seat of the kingdom of Guge. After hundreds of years of baptism and man-made destruction, it was almost ruined, leaving only a large number of palaces and Buddhist temples built in the eleventh century. Although it was already devastated, The momentum of the high is still there, and you can see the prevailing glory at a glance. The Guge Dynasty was destroyed by the invasion of the country in 1630, and the 100,000 subjects disappeared overnight. It became a mystery that has not yet been solved, attracting waves of tourists to come and sing.

The Guge dynasty, which has been for more than 700 years, disappeared mysteriously 400 years ago. This is a controversial topic throughout history and archaeology. What is left today is just some shards of sorrow. But even if these broken walls are left in the middle, you can still feel the power and glory of the Guge Dynasty. The
Guge Dynasty site is located on the south bank of Xiangquan, northwest of Tolin Town, in the Zabulrang District of Ali Zada County, 19 kilometers from the county seat. Built for the descendants of the Tubo royal family who once owned a million people, it has been in this place for more than 700 years. It has been inherited for more than 20 generations of kings. It has a history of 1,300 years and died in the seventeenth century, but left behind for future generations. Numerous precious cultural relics and historical materials.
is different from the ancient architecture we know, the mysterious Guge dynasty, from the foothills to the top of the mountain more than 300 meters high, housing buildings, Buddhist pagodas and caves are densely covered with mountains, reaching more than 600, forming a huge ancient architectural complex. From a distance, it is like a pyramid. Standing at the highest point of the Guge dynasty, the top of the pyramid overlooks the palace. The palace is always high. This aspect is for defense, and on the other hand it symbolizes the supremacy of the king. However, the war destroyed the castle and the yellow sand drowned the hero.

From Ali Shiquanhe Town, along the 219 National Road, about 140 kilometers to the Balbing Station, the station is 4,700 meters above sea level; the Balbine Station to Zada County, the road that needs to cross the Gangdese Mountains is above 5000 meters above sea level; After entering Zhada Highway, there is a colorful mountain. It is very charming when there are dozens of kilometers near Zada. There is a row of snow peaks standing there. It is the northern end of the Himalayas. About 20 kilometers away from Zada County. The Zanda Tulin is in front of you, and you can reach Zada County through the Zanda forest; the mysterious Guge Dynasty site is about 10 kilometers from Zanda County.
Colored mountains of the Gangdese Mountains, brown and yellow, against the backdrop of distant snow-capped mountains and blue sky and white clouds, as if God's overturned palette. Looking from afar, a group of castles, a group of towers, a tent, a layer of palaces, staggering, ceremonial, marvel at the wonders of nature.
Zanda The geomorphology is called the river-lake phase in geology, which is caused by millions of years of geological changes. According to geologists, more than one million years ago, between the land and the Pulan was a large lake with a radius of more than 500 kilometers. The Himalayan orogeny caused the lake basin to rise, the water level decreased, and the height of the "building" was washed out. After the erosion of the wind and rain, the statues of today's mountains are carved on the steep mountain rocks.

The Ali region and Beijing have a difference of nearly 40 degrees in longitude and 15 degrees in one time zone, which is more than two and a half hours. Therefore, although it has been more than 8 o'clock to reach the site of the Guge Dynasty, in fact, the sun has just risen, and the gate of the Guge site has not yet opened. Compared to the setting sun, Chaoyang is also the best time to visit during the Raiders and locals.
Tibet's scenic ticket office is mostly not like the city. There is a decent ticket window at the entrance of the park. It is basically the place where the ticket is checked on the way to the scenic spot. The Ali area is more succinct, just a simple plywood room. My partner and I have a student ID card, which can be half price. In order to save trouble, the staff who checked the ticket actually gave us a ticket directly - it is a total one, not one person! Also tell us that if someone checks the ticket, it is ok to show the student card of both of them.
Just a few years ago, the site of the Guge Dynasty was still an extremely strange name, but with the discovery of the Tibetan cultural relics team here, the kingdom that has disappeared for nearly 400 years suddenly appeared in peoples field of vision. It has attracted people's attention.
Guge ruins, it doesn't seem to be how tall you are when you don't come to him. But when you slowly approach him and step on his soil steps, in addition to being small, I am afraid there is no more appropriate adjective to express the scene at that moment. Behind the
Guge dynasty is a mysterious and strange historical story. In short, it is because the ancient kingdom of Guge has caused internal struggles due to the existence of various religions, and colluded with the leaders of neighboring countries to break into the interior, surrounded the palace of the Guge dynasty, cut off the supply, and the king of Guge even failed to surrender. The Kingdom of Guge was destroyed.
Guge Dynasty The whole castle is built on a loess slope of more than 300 meters high. The terrain is steep. The caves, stupas, towers, temples and palaces are arranged in an orderly manner. From the bottom up, the mountains are stacked and the atmosphere is magnificent. . These caves are mostly homes, densely populated on hillsides.
Guge murals are the finest works here, including Buddhist stories, myths and legends, as well as the production and living scenes of the Guge people at that time. It is a pity that when we arrived, several major temples such as the Red Temple, the White Temple and the Reincarnation Temple were locked by chains and were not open. It is very regrettable.
