There are two features of this hike. One is that you will go deep into the sea-eroded cave where you can play in the water. Then you will see the super spectacular hexagonal pillar rock. It was hot on the day of departure, but the photos came out beautiful, so the hard work was worth it! The route starts at Bai La Village, and taxis are the only transportation (on Sundays and public holidays, there is a minibus 7A between Bei Tan Chung and East Bar, getting off midway). First up the mountain, then start the descent. The location of Mukton Cave is more difficult. If you don't want to walk to it, you can actually rent a canoe in Bai La Village to support the boat 🚣‍♂️🤣. The weather is hot in the shade of Kapok Cave, drink water, rest and soak in the water is very comfortable😌 After leaving Kapok Cave, head towards the Wanzhu Coast, on the way will pass through Bai La Tsai Stony Beach🏝, then cross the hill to come to the second rocky beach, Sevenfold Rocky Beach. Walk along the mountainside to Wanzhu Coast, through the hill to Wanzhu Coast, there are a large number of stone stacks along the way, very spectacular🤩. By chance, I visited East Dam on the first Saturday after Christmas and New Year, and it turned out to be the perfect day of the year! Weather: Cool, dry, and sunny, allowing for breathtaking views under the blue sky. It was slightly cloudy, and even at noon, I didn't break a sweat! If it rained during this season, it would be like winning the lottery! Crowd: According to the minibus driver, every Saturday is packed with people, with hundreds lining up for the minibus, taking hours to get on! Taxis hike their prices, charging over a hundred dollars per person! The walk from Pak Tam Chung to East Dam takes 2.5-3 hours, with no scenery along the way, just uphill and downhill, a true endurance test! During long holidays, fewer people visit as they travel abroad. After the holidays, people need to rest, so it's less crowded! No need for a guide, just check the route online and follow the crowd. There are informative signs along the way. Enjoy the quirky and oddly-shaped rocks, the dam, and the stunning views of the sky and sea. With photo stops and breaks, it takes about two hours to reach the minibus. If you can sort out the transportation, this is a must-visit place for Hongkongers at least once in their lifetime! (Remember to choose the right season!)

Take bus 96R from Diamond Hill Exit C2 to Pak Tam Chung, then transfer to minibus 9A to High Island Reservoir East Dam. The drop-off point is also where you will catch the return bus. There is a map available, and if you have limited stamina, you can choose to walk half the loop and then return. The weather is cooler in the afternoon. We went around 2 PM, and there weren't many people, so we could walk with the cows. There are many different geological landscapes worth seeing. Highly recommended for travelers who have visited Hong Kong many times but want to experience the leisurely island atmosphere.
