History of Seiganji Temple
☑️ At the beginning of Eisho (1504), the temple was destroyed in a war, but the principal image of Sho Kannon escaped harm and is now famous as a power spot!
☑️ In the Edo period, thanks to the efforts of Goro Ito, the main hall and temple buildings were constructed!
Shortly after, Goro passed away, and a monk, mourning his death and to honor his achievements, named the temple Seiganji after Goro's posthumous name!
☑️ 150 years later, the restored Seiganji Temple was converted to the Soto sect as a branch of Daionji Temple and remains so to this day!
A famous power spot in Shiga!
Great for Shiga sightseeing and travel!
