All day coffee every day at Todos Los Dias
Behind its Spanish name Todos los Dias - all the days or better adapted "every day" - there is a bright and spacious two-storeys all day café serving specialty coffee and a range of imaginative cakes and pastries.
Certainly coffee is something you get "todos los dias" and here the idoneity of such name. The offer is large and varied ranging from the usual Espresso (18rmb), Capuccino or Latte (both for 32rmb) and renditions of this second one such as Cinnamon Latte or Peanut Latte (all for 32rmb). The imagination takes a ride with the speciaty coffee drinks (iced only) like the Pineapple Summer (36rmb) where coffee is mixed with pinapple juice and fresh lemon or the Seasalt Coconut Dirty (35rmb) a latte using coconut milk, roast coconut flakes and sea salt.
Also imaginative are the cakes and pastries - and a sweet cheat to diet - with choices such as Sweet Potato Caramel Cheesecake (38rmb for a piece), Seasalt Cheesecake (42rmb piece) or the uber-popular Basque Burnt Cheesecake (32rmb piece)
Smaller in size but also a high calorie intake are the scones, for 15rmb each they come in different flavors such as: pumpkin, chocolate rosemary, figs or cinnamon apple.
The place is open from 8am till 8pm and it usually gets busy around noon time and on weekends. According to the service, loads of young chinese spend hours taking photos for their wanghong social media posts, and it is not surprising given the large space and minimalistic yet careful design. At the entrance, a narrow porch is a perfect photo-op space as it is the small terrace at the back. Walking upstairs the second floor has more seating space, the big table in the middle of the room gives a modern café vibe and the smaller side tables for two are a perfect point for gazing at the tree-top canopy of North Shaanxi Road or the heritage building in the inner patio.
All in all Todos los Dias has both a pleasant design and seating space both for instagrammable moment hunters as well as the casual café settler -laptop in hand - looking for a cozy place to get some work done

A stretch of Seymour Road, a half chapter of modern history
The one-kilometer section of Shaanxi North Road from Julu Road to Xinzha Road is one of the three 'Chinese Historical and Cultural Streets' designated by the National Ministry of Culture. Formerly known as Seymour Road, it was built in 1914 and is a century-old street.
It is also one of the '64 roads that will never be widened' in Shanghai.
The road is narrow, so narrow that even on the sidewalk, two people meeting must turn sideways to pass each other. The dense plane trees cast deep shadows, walking under them is like entering the gates of a castle. On both sides of the street, lanes, alleys, and large courtyards with deep-set houses and Western-style apartments are mostly over a hundred years old.
Along the road, there are more than 20 former residences of celebrities, outstanding historical buildings, and cultural heritage sites, including the old homes of four major families from across the strait and three regions, and traces of well-preserved Jewish culture.
