I might be the last person in Shanghai to know about this place
Longing for the Dove Tower, I've come to Shanghai so many times and finally made it here to check in. The terrace has now been turned into a café, and the ground floor into a hotel, so it's no longer possible to take photos of the popular check-in spot. However, the view from the small window on the top floor is still stunning!

📸Photo Spots
1️⃣The curved window view on the 7th-floor terrace café allows you to capture the old Western-style houses in Puxi and the modern skyscrapers in Pudong.
🚧The glass of the curved windows is now permanently closed and not allowed to be opened, so there will be a bit of reflection in the photos.
👉Actually, you don't have to make a purchase to take photos here. While I was having coffee, I saw many people just come up, take this photo, and leave. The waiters didn't say anything.
2️⃣The effect of the photos taken in the lobby downstairs this time is also quite good. You can frame the buildings and the intersection behind with the door columns.
-
‼️Don't come on Monday, the 7th floor is closed and not open for business.
🕰I recommend coming around 2 p.m. The building will be fully illuminated by the sunlight, and there are relatively fewer pedestrians downstairs.

Shanghai, the Magic City, is truly an earthly paradise!
The weather has been so nice lately, with few people around, good weather, and flowers blooming, I really love the feeling of early summer. You can roll around on the grass, and experience the unique beauty of the Magic City through citywork!
There are also many little romantic things to do without spending money... for example,
you can citywalk under the plane trees in the Hengfu Historical Area, visit a European-style castle to feel the beauty of being abroad, waste time in Shanghai's most beautiful parks, have afternoon tea on the rooftop of the Shama Building,
or enjoy the romantic sunset in the Magic City's version of Lalaland...
Hurry up and arrange a different spring trip to the Magic City for yourself!

The Shama Building Internet Celebrity Photo Guide
Near the Yuanmingyuan Road (Bund Source), there is a Shama Building, located at the intersection of Beijing East Road and Sichuan Middle Road, a good place for internet celebrities to take photos. From September 22 to October 6 during the National Day holiday, the Bund Architecture Festival was held, and the classic buildings from the Republic of China period nearby can be seen. In addition to the Bund, it is also crowded here.
However, the main audience here is young people born in the 90s and 00s, and it is one of the must-visit spots for tourists in Shanghai;
The Shama Building is one of the famous buildings in the modern Bund area of Shanghai. It was built in 1918, originally named Shama Bank Building, and was used as Shama Foreign Firm, Shanghai Trust, and later as residential housing, corporate offices, etc. This building was designed by the famous design firm - English Merchant Tonghe Foreign Firm and comprador Ying Ziyun for French businessman Solomon Shama, and was completed in 1921. After a long renovation project lasting 7 years, this century-old building has reopened and has become a new landmark in Shanghai.
The first floor here is a popular coffee shop DECK COFFEE & BISTRO, offering a variety of coffees and beautiful pastries, including beautiful volcano cupcakes;
The second floor is a casual dining place called The Living Room, the Western food here tastes good, and coffee is also provided. You can also take famous internet celebrity photos on the second floor terrace. If you can't go up to the seventh floor, this is the second choice;
The third floor and above is the ZHotel; the third floor has an indoor sky garden, a very typical French architectural style;
The seventh floor is a beautiful terrace, there is a bar inside, during the National Day holiday, you actually have to buy a ticket for more than 100 yuan, the biggest highlight is a photo looking out from the spire (Figure 2) is the classic and best view of the entire Shama Building, the spire has been destroyed during the Cultural Revolution;

Shamei is as mysterious and beautiful as its name
▪️The history of the building can be traced back to 1918, when it was designed and built by British merchant Tong and Yanghang and comprador Ying Ziyun for French businessman Solomon Shamei. The building was completed in 1921 and is a typical Renaissance-style classical European building. It served as the office location for Shamei Foreign Firm, Shanghai Trust and other institutions, and was later used for residential housing and corporate offices. The building has witnessed the prosperity and changes of Shanghai, as well as the vicissitudes of modern Chinese history.
▪️In terms of architecture, the exterior is made of dark gray stone, exuding a calm and solemn atmosphere. The tower, door eyebrows, window coffins and other places have adopted Baroque-style multi-curve carvings. It's like a mysterious castle, leading to endless reverie.

Honestly, any street in Shanghai is a masterpiece when casually photographed
I'm back in Shanghai, and I love it even more this time.
I've unlocked new places and new shooting spots this time.
The first to third pictures are from the beautiful terrace of the Sami Building, a niche coffee restaurant.
(I suggest going there around three or four in the afternoon, because the sunset light is very soft, and the photos taken are more textured)
The fourth to sixth pictures are our great Bund in Shanghai!
(The night lights really make you feel what a real metropolis is, it's really beautiful! Make sure to choose a good weather day to go, the night wind is really cool, and the lights are really beautiful)
The last picture is Julu Road because I was in a hurry at the time and only took this picture, next time I must go to this place where many young people check in, there are some small bars on both sides of the road, very atmospheric, wait for me, I will definitely come next time!

Shamei Building - It's so beautiful
Shamei Building, originally known as Shamei Bank Building, was built in 1918. It was designed by the famous design firm - British firm Tong and Yang, and completed in 1921. It has a history of more than 100 years and is a classical European building in the style of the new Renaissance.
This is my first time walking into the Shamei Building. I have passed by in a hurry a few times before, and this time I have time to go in and sit for a while and take a good look.
Half of the first floor is a restaurant, and half is a small exhibition area. The restaurant is a bit dark, and there is no exhibition now, just appreciating the architecture and decoration, which is also a pleasant thing.

Lesser-known check-in spot on the Bund | A different perspective of Shanghai
🏛️ 'The most beautiful balcony in Magic City' A century-old foreign building on the Bund - Shamae Building 🏛️ was built in 1918, underwent 7 years of renovation, and reappeared at the end of 2021, becoming a popular check-in spot in Shanghai. As one of the early important works of Tonghe Foreign Firm in the Bund area of Shanghai, Shamae Building exudes a strong retro and exquisite atmosphere!
🏛️ The entire space has 7 floors, art space, coffee, afternoon tea, dining, craft beer, terrace bar, accommodation
🏛️ The terrace on the top floor has an excellent view, but it was not easy to go up before, now it is a bar, there are occasional exhibitions, you can enter by appointment in advance.
🏛️ 2F ZHotel front desk, The Living Room Western restaurant, with Brunch / Afternoon tea / Dinner. The French retro decoration is very chill, the terrace only has three tables, you need to book in advance or go early, the Oriental Pearl view at the very back is even a matter of luck! Recommend ordering coffee and desserts.
🏛️ 3F-6F ZHotel hotel rooms
🏛️ The top floor is Q THE UPPER ROOM bar, the view is better but it only starts operating at 7 pm, don't go in vain during the day. And you need to make an appointment in advance!
☺️ The photo is the view from the 2nd floor, the top floor was empty because I didn't make an appointment, it's worth a second visit!

The Bund, Shanghai, Sassoon House
The Sassoon House was built in 1918 and has a history of over 100 years. It is a protected building.
It later became the only hotel under the Artyzen brand that is housed in a historic building. The architectural design of the entire building is truly beautiful. The restaurant on the second floor is surrounded by various flowers, and the restaurant's various well-designed contours and flowers complement each other, making the entire space beautiful. The upper floors are the guest rooms, and each stairwell has a small design. The elevator is also very retro. The hotel rooms are relatively small, and the interior decoration style is simple and fashionable. Because the entire building has a long history and there are layout issues, it is understandable that the rooms are small. In summary, it is worth experiencing.

📍Exhibition Location

First, second and seventh floors of Shamian Building
❤️Recommended Reason
Step into the retro-modern Bund century-old building Shamian Building on 520, watch the 'SUAF Shanghai Urban Gravity Art Festival', the trend of China shows inclusiveness, diversity, full of life passion. 'If you say you've seen such a scene, it must be in your dream.' Come to the dreamlike art space of Shamian Building, you may accidentally enter the dream, as if you have started a 'dreamlike' art journey.
🌟Exhibition Highlights
The rabbit is actually an important element in 'Dreamlike', it and the flower as a medium to connect and interpret the entire exhibition. The most impressive in the exhibition is a single sofa with ears - 'Rabbit Queen Chair', which is a work of a 13-year-old girl. She loves rabbits and hopes that there is a sofa at home that is transformed into a rabbit, so this work was born.
📷Photography Suggestions
As long as you take a casual shot of the century-old Shamian Building, it is a blockbuster. Not only can you feel the cultural accumulation of the century-old building, but also through the artist's work scenes created from multiple field angles, you can freely shuttle between different levels of dream space and feel the creativity and vitality of trendy art.

In Shanghai! Pretend to be abroad
The Sassoon House, a building with a hundred years of history, is located in the historical and cultural area of the Bund in Shanghai, west of the Huangpu River and south of the Suzhou River.
The building was initially completed in 1921, jointly designed by the British company Dent & Co. and Ying Tsz-yun, and built for the French businessman Victor Sassoon. It exhibits an eclectic architectural style and is one of Dent & Co.'s important works in modern Shanghai.
The Sassoon House has had various uses in history, from the original Sassoon & Co. and the Shanghai Trust office, to later residential housing and corporate offices. It is one of the earliest buildings in Shanghai to adopt reinforced concrete structures and install elevators. In 2014, the building was closed for a seven-year renovation and reopened in 2022, restoring its glory.
The building integrates various business formats, restaurants, cafes, art spaces, open-air bars, which can keep you for a whole day, a good place to take pictures

Some of my highlights from Shanghai trip
But don't go there during holidays
travelingsoul
Shamei Building, formerly known as Shamei Bank Building, Shanghai's outstanding historical buildings. Nowadays, because it is waiting for renovation, it has become a semi-underground location. The
building has a distinct Renaissance architecture, and the sculptures and curves of the exterior walls are in Baroque style. The best is the balcony on each floor, the old Shanghai building is outside the window, and the background is also the three-piece Oriental Pearl and the tall building of Lujiazui. The modern and the history are perfectly integrated.
Although it has been possible to shoot in recent years, but the interior decoration officially started, this shooting point will disappear, so what are the students waiting for?
