Shanghai Botanical Garden is located at 1111 Longwu Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai. It is a comprehensive botanical garden focusing on plant introduction and domestication, horticultural research, and science education.
🎈Overview of the Park:
Shanghai Botanical Garden covers an area of 81.86 hectares. It was planned in 1974 and officially opened to the public in 1978. The park currently has areas such as the Plant Evolution Zone, Environmental Protection Plant Zone, and Greening Demonstration Zone. The Plant Evolution Zone includes 15 specialized gardens such as the Conifer Garden, Fern Garden, Magnolia Garden, Peony Garden, Azalea Garden, Rose Garden, Maple Garden, Osmanthus Garden, Bamboo Garden, Bonsai Garden, Medicinal Herb Garden, Exhibition Greenhouse, and Orchid Room. The garden mainly focuses on collecting and introducing wild plants from the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and collecting and screening a large number of horticultural varieties for urban greening. Currently, it has collected more than 3,500 species and over 6,000 varieties of live plants.
