Shikaumi Shrine, a place that brings peace to mind, body, and soul.
Shikaumi Shrine is dedicated to the gods of the sea: Sokotsu Watatsumi no Kami, Nakatsu Watatsumi no Kami, and Uwatsu Watatsumi no Kami. This shrine is the birthplace of the powerful clan Awanushi, who ruled over the sea people in ancient times. As mentioned in the Manyo poems within the shrine, it has been worshipped as a guardian deity of the sea since ancient times. The shrine houses national cultural treasures such as the Korean-made gilded bell and the prefectural cultural asset, the thin bronze sword mold. There is also a stone pagoda within the grounds. This serene shrine naturally calms one's mind and brings peace.
