Agnes @ Sacred Heart Cathedral in Guangzhou
Guangzhou has been at the mercy of extreme weather for over a month, but the upside is that there are far fewer tourists, as everyone wants to avoid the stormy season. During the Canton Fair, I took a business trip to Guangzhou and took some time to visit the Sacred Heart Cathedral, a touch of Guangzhou's romance...
Because of the reasons mentioned earlier, there was no need to queue at all, and I just walked right in. Located in Yuexiu, the old district of Guangzhou, the cathedral stands on the street without feeling out of place, as if it naturally comes into view like walking on the streets of Europe. The cathedral is not particularly large, but once inside, volunteers were explaining a lot about the Catholic background, how to visit, and how to view each Bible story. Looking up at the ceiling of the cathedral is also a beautiful piece of art. Unfortunately, it was overcast that day, and there was no sunlight streaming in, but I imagine it would be beautiful. It can't be compared with the Sagrada Familia, but it's a beauty unique to Guangzhou.
There's a small garden around the perimeter where you can also take a stroll. After leaving, there's a dessert shop nearby with Zhao's traditional sweets to try, and the taste is quite good.

#freehotelstay #2023travelwish #Tourchina #mytripvlog At Sacred Heart Cathedral (Guangzhou) — Sacred Heart Cathedral in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou. Also known as the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, or Shishi Catholic Church, is regarded as the ‘Notre Dame of East Asian’. Located at Yide Road near the Haizhu Square in the city center, this 130-year-old Roman Catholic cathedral is a holy and peaceful site in the bustling urban area. The cathedral was designed by two French architects, and completed by Chinese craftsmen within 25 years from 1863 to 1888. Featuring all of the walls and pillars made of granite, the Sacred Heart Cathedral is nicknamed the ‘Stone House’ (Shishi in Chinese) by the locals. The façade of the cathedral was modelled on the Basilica of St. Clotilde in Paris and its nave and apse were inspired by the Toul Cathedral. The cathedral features a nave of 28.2 metres high, flanked by two lower aisles and 14 small side-chapels. With a floor area of 2,924 square metres, it is the largest Roman Catholic church in the Guangzhou archdiocese and the largest cathedral in the Gothic style in China and Southeast Asia. The cathedral is 32.85 metres wide, 77.17 metres long, and the twin towers rise 52.76 metres high. The west tower is a clock tower while the east tower serves as a bell tower, inside which there used to be five large bells shipped in from France in the 19th century, although nowadays only four remain as one was given to a local church in Guangxi province in the early 1980s.#本地遊

The Sacred ❤ Cathedral ⛪
This is an actual church church 🙃 that still holds services🙏🏽. It was a shocker because I was not aware of that until I got there and they were in the middle of worship, felt a bit awkward because I was just there for sightseeing. So I attached the mass schedule for those interested to attend. Aside from that, it's an interesting place to view the architecture in my non-professional architectural advice 🤭. Located in the Yuexiu district, transportation I think is easy. I took a taxi from the hotel to there which was about 30 yuan or less, but there's a metro station just a few feet away and a bus stop directly across from the cathedral. #givethanks #cathedral #guangzhou #yuexiudistrict

the 'heart' of old Guangzhou ..*🕍*..
weekender trip to the city is always a breeze.. this time I brought a friend who never been to older part of the city and she like to have a look at the famous Stone House a.k.a the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
It's located at the northern bank of the Pearl River, at 56 Yide Rd (一德路56号). Although I have been here for several times.. the magnificent masterpiece never failed to impress me. I get to know its one of the few cathedrals in the world to be entirely built of granite, including all the walls, pillars, and the twin towers. absolutely grand right?
Built in 1860s, it is the largest roman Catholic church in the Guangzhou archdiocese and the largest cathedral in the Gothic style in China as well as Southeast Asia. The cathedral is 32.85 metres wide, 77.17 metres long, and the twin towers rise 52.76 metres high.
There's this cafe right in front of the Cathedral, where one can have coffee in a nice spacious surroundings with the view of the cafe. And sometimes I felt it's quite the feeling of Parisian atmospheric overlooking the towers of the cathedral. definitely recommended!

Sacred Heart Cathedral - Guangzhou
Sacred Heart Cathedral is located at 56, Yide Road, Yuexiu District,Guangzhou, China.
It is known as the "Stone House" by the locals, and I think it is because the entire cathedral was built with granite blocks.
Mysterious atmosphere and colorful glass windows. Truly a magnificent place in the city.
To Get There you can take the subway Line 2 or 6 to Haizhu Square and exit at B2, then continue to walk (enjoying the beautiful buildings on the way) about half a kilometer and it will be on your right.
A lot of small shops around the area - we bought delicious dried fruit from the store next door.

Travel back to the 19th century as you step onto the square in front of Guangzhou's Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Apparently the largest all-granite church in the world, the Gothic cathedral, nicknamed the Stone House, 石室, was first constructed in the 1860s, led by French missionaries. At the time, its spires towered over the surrounding buildings and locals allegedly feared it would damage the feng shui of the area. Now it is dwarfed by nearby skyscrapers and cannot be seen from very far, but once on the square, it still dominates its immediate neighbourhood. It was damaged in the Second World War and used as a warehouse during the Cultural Revolution, but it has since been well restored, including new stained glass windows and a better quality roof.
The sharp double spires have become a symbol of Guangzhou, featuring alongside Canton Tower and the Five Goats statue in Yuexiu Park in posters and advertising throughout the city.
The cathedral is sometimes open for sightseeing or private prayer between mass, but the main gate seems to be open somewhat sporadically. The square outside the gate is the best place to view the whole façade though and is a popular spot for selfies in Old Canton.
The Sacred Heart Cathedral is a short walk from Haizhu Square 海珠广场站 and Yidelu 一德路站 metro stations. Yide Road itself is home to many wholesalers offering everything from electronics to dried seahorses and is an interesting place for window shopping, and the north embankment of the Pearl River is only a short walk away.

A Must-Visit: Guangzhou's Sacred Heart Cathedral
The trend of Hong Kong residents traveling north continues. If you've almost exhausted your trips to Shenzhen and want to avoid the crowds, why not consider Guangzhou?
Many people might know that the Sacred Heart Cathedral is one of the only four all-stone Gothic churches in the world. But did you know that Guangzhou doesn't produce granite? So where did these stones come from? Hong Kong! The church was built using granite quarried from Ngau Tau Kok and Cha Kwo Ling in Kowloon, Hong Kong. These stones were transported to Guangzhou by sailboat, then manually chiseled, hoisted, and bonded. When you visit, take a closer look—architecture is living history, allowing us to experience the past in the present.
From West Kowloon Station, you can take a high-speed train directly to Guangzhou East. From there, take Metro Line 1 to Dongshankou Station, transfer to Line 6, and get off at Yide Station. Exit A and walk straight along Yide Road for about five minutes to reach the cathedral. The route is not complicated and is definitely worth a visit.

Of course, how can you miss the food when you come to Guangzhou? There are many authentic Guangzhou snack shops near the cathedral. It is recommended that you try rice noodle rolls and char siu bao, which will definitely make you want more!

Sacred Heart Cathedral in Guangzhou is Outstanding🌞❤️🥰
#churches
In Guangzhou! The romantic mind under the church cannot hum Jay Chou's' William Castle '.! A four story Guangzhou style arcade with surprises layer by layer. From the top floor, you can see the full view of the church in the autumn breeze. It's so romantic to meet here. Life is sweet and rainy, wandering on the streets of the old castle area. For students who come to Guangzhou for tourism, I highly recommend going to eat, eat and stroll on Yide Road. In addition to some famous old brands and pedestrian street attractions on Beijing Road, taking a walk all the way to the Sacred Heart Cathedral at night is also a treasure route! Accustomed to the European style beauty of the Sacred Heart Cathedral during the day and a touch of mystery and romance at night, the road passes by the atmosphere of the nearby bar, the wine is produced, the water standard is high, the cups are quite fierce, the vessels have characteristics, and the store design is almost centered on the cross

Guangzhou Cathedral: A European-Style Building Full of History and Spirituality
Today, I visited the Guangzhou Cathedral, and its grandeur left me in awe. The cathedral's exterior features Gothic architecture with towering spires and exquisite stone carvings, making me feel as if I had traveled back to medieval Europe. Upon entering, the stained glass windows cast colorful shadows in the sunlight, creating a sacred atmosphere.
I sat quietly on a bench, listening to the whispers and soft music around me, feeling an immense sense of peace. This place is not only a site of religious faith but also a center for cultural exchange. After my visit, I left deeply moved and look forward to returning to this historically and spiritually rich place.

Guangzhou CityWalk sincerely recommends coming to these places, including Route 1: Guangzhou Tower, Sacred Heart Cathedral, Liuhua Lake Park, Xinhua Hotel, Guangdong Customs Museum, Shamian, and Yongqing Square. I can't wear a short skirt or hat when entering the room at the scenic spot. I wore a short skirt in the sky and gave a piece of cloth to surround the location of the northeast entrance of Liuhua Lake Park. Turning right at the entrance is the best location for the camera. It takes a long time to walk through the main entrance, and there are many cute and gentle cats in the park. Many people are taking pictures in the lazy sun. After taking a picture, they run away. Personally, I think it will be cloudy and there will be another scene. I must go to People's Bridge to take pictures. You are very beautiful. Just locate the "Mingdi Xiang Life Hall" and go up. After taking pictures, go to the island to stroll around the characteristic building Moon Bridge. I was a little tired when I walked around that day, so I didn't go. I stepped on Xiaohongshu to find the best camera location. APM line. Exit A of Haixinsha Station, then guide the dock to the west of Haixinsha and take a photo with the coconut tree Guangzhou Tower. The area is less crowded! Sacred Heart Cathedral, Second rate Flower Lake Park: Come to Xinhua Hotel: Guangdong Customs Museum: Lighting up at night will give you a better view of Wushamian Island: Yongqing Square: In Guangzhou Tower:? I didn't eat the hot pot with Congee base. Come again next time! Morning tea, silver lanterns, eating at the mansion. I like to eat pot and enjoy delicious food
