If you're in Iceland hiking a glacier is a must. It's sp special and a complete different nature experience. Walking between ice falls and cracks is scary but rewarding. Go with a guide who has the right equipement and knowledge.

Glacier Walks and Midnight Suns
Skaftafell, nestled within Vatnajökull National Park in Iceland, offers an extraordinary blend of ice, sky, and volcanic landscape, making it a dream destination for adventurers and nature lovers alike. My expedition to this icy wonderland was nothing short of spectacular, featuring glacier hikes, breathtaking waterfalls, and the unforgettable phenomenon of the midnight sun.
The highlight of my trip was a guided glacier walk on one of Skaftafell's sprawling glaciers. Strapping on crampons and wielding an ice axe, I ventured into a world of deep crevasses, towering ice formations, and the mesmerizing blue hue of ancient ice. The expertise of our guide ensured safety while allowing us to experience the glacier's majesty up close. This hands-on exploration of one of nature's most formidable creations was both humbling and exhilarating.
Beyond the ice, Skaftafell is home to some of Iceland's most stunning landscapes. The hike to Svartifoss, a waterfall famed for its basalt column surroundings reminiscent of organ pipes, was a journey through a fairy-tale forest leading to a view that took my breath away. The contrast of the dark columns against the cascading water creates a visual masterpiece that epitomizes the beauty of Icelandic nature.
Visiting during the summer months, I was treated to the surreal experience of the midnight sun. The extended daylight hours allowed for more exploration, with the golden hour stretching into infinity, offering perfect lighting for photography enthusiasts and a unique natural spectacle.
For those planning to visit, be prepared for all types of weather, even in summer. Layers are your best friend in Iceland's unpredictable climate. Also, booking glacier tours and accommodations in advance is a must, as Skaftafell's popularity among visitors has grown.
One tip I would offer is to take the time to simply sit and absorb the vastness and silence of the landscape. In today's fast-paced world, the tranquility found in the heart of Iceland's natural beauty offers a rare moment of reflection and connection with the earth.
My journey through Skaftafell was a testament to the power and beauty of nature, leaving me with memories of awe-inspiring landscapes and moments of pure wonder under the midnight sun.

The highlands in Iceland is one of my favorite places on Earth. The different textures and colors that cover the landscape are absolutely breathtaking. One I have is to rent a 4x4 vehicle and drive yourself out into the highlands. You travel through rivers, crossing by beautiful scenery. I would recommend having a guide though, or at least a map, because getting lost can be pretty easy to do. Iceland will always be one of my favorite places to travel to, and that’s why I highly recommend checking it out! #iceland #awesomepic #europe

There’s nothing quite like Iceland in the autumn. The summer greens turn into a vivid orange in a matter of weeks.

Skaftafell's glacier on foot, replaced with heavy boots and crampons, seems to be walking on the shaved ice at first, some areas are completely ice, and it will not slip if you step on it.
The guide said that it is often raining here, and it is very good luck in sunny weather. Some shots of interstellar crossing are taken here.

Iceland is the westernmost country in Europe. It is located in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean, close to the Arctic Circle. The area of glaciers is 8,000 square kilometers, making it the second largest island in Europe. 3/4 of the whole territory is a plateau with an altitude of 400-800 meters, of which 1/8 is covered by glaciers. There are more than 100 volcanoes, including more than 30 active volcanoes. Warner Darwins is the highest peak in the country and is 2,119 meters above sea level. Almost all the countries in Iceland are built on volcanic rocks. Most of the land cannot be reclaimed. It is the country with the most hot springs in the world. It is rich in geothermal resources, so it is called the country of ice and fire. There are many fountains, waterfalls, lakes and rushing rivers. The largest river, the Siyur Sao River, is 227 kilometers long.
Iceland is spread all over national parks and nature reserves, the most spectacular of which are the Myvatn Nature Reserve and national parks such as Tingvellir, Jiegu Salon and Skaftafell. The most famous attraction of the Skafath National Park is the Svartifoss waterfall; the Jakusha Lake in the Jeju Salon National Park is a lake formed at the bottom of the glaciers, up to 100 meters deep.
