When people think of Macau, they often picture the luxurious hotels and the glitzy casinos. However, the Macau Peninsula is home to many overlooked spots filled with artistic vibes and rich history. Next time you visit Macau, take the opportunity to experience a different cultural charm.
📍 Rua da Felicidade (Images 1-5)
Rua da Felicidade was named in honor of a leprosy hospital that once operated here, now revitalized as a cultural and creative park. Walking into this alley, you'll be greeted by colorful Portuguese-style buildings, as if stepping into a time tunnel back to old Macau.
📍 Rua dos Mercadores (Images 6-8)
Rua dos Mercadores is located at the intersection of Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro. Looking down from the top of the alley, the red Portuguese buildings contrast beautifully with the blue sky and sea, making you feel like you're in a quaint foreign town, incredibly picturesque.

A place for literary and artistic photos, with few people and easy to produce good shots
【Attraction】Feng Tang Xie Alley
【Address】Near No. 13 Feng Tang Xie Alley (800 meters walk from Ruins of St. Paul's)
Macau is not just about shopping, there are countless attractions in the narrow streets, missing them is a waste.
*The road you've walked is also a memory of a deserted building. There are not many tourists here, it's easy to take photos with feelings, it's indeed very suitable for literary and artistic youth.
*Feng Tang Xie Alley is close to the Macau Museum and the Ruins of St. Paul's, it's a street with Portuguese style. The old buildings on the street are all painted yellow and red, the road is covered with beautiful patterns of mosaic pebbles, and the street lights have been changed to European style, just like Lisbon.
*The love lock wall in Feng Tang Xie Alley, an easily overlooked alley, make a quiet wish there and lock it on the wall.
*Feng Tang Xie Alley is a literary and artistic alley in St. Lazarus Parish, many important buildings are located here. The Pó House is a representative building, which has been transformed into the art space we see today after Macau returned to the motherland, showing new vitality.
*Travel guide: Feng Tang Xie Alley in St. Lazarus Parish is open for free, the shooting effect is best on sunny days. It's only over 300 meters from the Cannon Fort and about 700 meters from the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, you can walk there.

From the Wangde Hall to find the way, it is the mad hall oblique lane. The second building that comes into view is this religious church Wangdetang has become the activity center of the elderly. Opposite the church
is a very famous building "Great Crazy Hall". This is an elegant Southern European style building, exquisitely carved, baroque cylinders, arc-shaped cast iron railings, and a sense of elegance. There are several yellow Portuguese-style buildings on the 8th of the
Chuntang Inclined Alley. It is very eye-catching in the crazy hallway. These buildings are the Rencitang House. As for the origin of this place, it is really famous. During the Second World War, a large number of Shanghai Portuguese people went to Macao, where they became the shelter of the refugees and the poor. In fact, the real name of the house was the House of the Poor. Later, I changed to a nursing home and let some elderly women who have never married for a lifetime, so they are called a house.
Behind the Po Tsai House is a "Crazy Hall No. 10 Creative Garden", a pale yellow four-storey Portuguese building. There are often cultural exhibitions held here, with many exhibitions and art workshops on photography, ocarina, ceramics, oil painting, manga, fashion, graphic design, sculpture. It used to be the office of the Macao Independent Commission Against Corruption and the Environmental Committee. It is a heritage building with a long history in Macau.

A popular photo spot for hipsters, Rua de São Lázaro.
🌟 Rua de São Lázaro is a small alley with a strange name. The name comes from a leprosy hospital in history, which was the first infectious disease hospital established by the West in China.
🌈 Today, Rua de São Lázaro is a historical site in Macau and a popular photo spot for hipsters and tourists.
👍 Most of the buildings here were built between the late 19th century and 1930. Most of them are two-story Southern European-style villas, mainly yellow with maroon borders. In the sunlight, they give people a warm and unrestrained feeling, as if they have come to a small town in Southern Europe.

Fong Tong Lane: The Historical Charm Hidden in the Sunset
Stepping into Fong Tong Lane, one is immediately captivated by this winding alley. The narrow path is flanked by understated yet exquisite Portuguese architecture, with weathered walls that are rich with stories, as if every crack is narrating the passage of time.
Walking on the cobblestone road, the sound of footsteps echoes in the tranquil air, prompting a slower pace. At the corner, sunlight spills onto the brightly colored window sills, and through the half-open wooden shutters, one can glimpse a serene daily life. Occasionally, street name plaques made of Portuguese tiles come into view, reminding visitors of the area's diverse history and cultural fusion.
In the afternoon, Fong Tong Lane resembles a tranquil painting, with the air filled with a sense of history. The old market scenes and the laughter of residents seem to linger in the air. In this short alley, strollers can momentarily escape the hustle and bustle of city life and feel a gentle touch of time. Fong Tong Lane is indeed a poetic and contemplative moment in Macau.

Macau travel, classic check-in strategy is here.
Macau is one of the most international cities in China, where Eastern and Western cultures blend, whether it is architecture, food, or lifestyle is very unique.
If you talk about the area, Macau is not very big, but if you want to deeply feel the charm of Macau, two or three days is far from enough.
As a big bay, I often travel to and from Macau, and I always have new gains every time, and I can always find different beauty.
⭐Sé: Located in the central part of the Macau Peninsula, it is the smallest of the 8 parishes in Macau, with many historical and elegant Portuguese-style buildings, including Guia Lighthouse and St. Mary's Cathedral. The crazy church lane in the district is a very suitable place for taking pictures.
⭐Fulong New Street: Located in the central area of the Macau Peninsula, it has a history of hundreds of years, and there are many old brands on the street.
⭐Official Street: Located in the old city of Taipa, it is one of the busiest commercial streets in Macau. Although it is only 121 meters long, it has many famous milk tea shops, coffee shops, gourmet shops and souvenir shops.
⌚Recently, Macau has an international fireworks competition performance, and I am preparing to invite friends to travel to Macau again, and I have the opportunity to meet in Macau.
Performance time: September 14/15/21, October 1/6.
This time, there are fireworks companies from 10 countries including Russia, France, Canada, Thailand, Spain, the Philippines, mainland China, Italy, Japan and Portugal. On October 1, the fireworks companies from mainland China and Italy will participate in the performance. After the last two fireworks performances on the night of October 6, the award ceremony will be held. Every competition day 17:00-23:00, the Tourism Bureau and the Macau Neighborhood Association jointly present the popular "Fire Tree Silver Flower" Carnival at the Macau Science Museum Seawall. This event carefully integrates food, wonderful performances and fun game elements, allowing tourists to be satisfied in both audio-visual and taste, great!
In addition to the Macau Science Museum Seawall mentioned earlier, the best fireworks viewing points also include the Macau Sun Yat-sen Avenue Guanyin Lotus Garden to the Guanyin Statue Waterfront Rest Area, Sagres Avenue (next to the Mandarin Oriental Macau), Nam Van・Yaven Lakeside, Taipa Ocean Avenue.
👍Special reminder: The Ministry of Finance, the General Administration of Customs and the State Administration of Taxation jointly announced on June 28 that Macau residents who are 18 years old and older and carry overseas personal items for personal use, with a total value of not more than 12,000 yuan, can enjoy tax exemption. Convenience. In addition, shopping in duty-free shops at the port of entry, combined with overseas items, is also tax-free if the total value does not exceed 15,000 yuan. This offer will cover all ports of entry (except Hengqin "First Line" port) from August 1, 2024.

Stop going to the crowded Ruins of St. Paul's and Love Lane!
This street is called Rua da Tercena.
It has a similar architectural style to Love Lane.

A must-visit cultural and creative place in Macao, "Crazy Hall"
Today’s check-in photos of niche tourists ✔️
Xiexiang is named after "Crazy Hall"
It is to commemorate the residence built by Wangde Parish for lepers.
It is also the first infectious disease hospital established by the West in China🏥: Leprosy Hospital
A short street with colorful Portuguese-style buildings on both sides
Crazy Hall - The story behind it caused by compassion is also very heartwarming💗

The colorful streets of Macau's Frenzy Hall Slope Lane embody a spirit of benevolence
Frenzy Hall Slope Lane houses colorful Portuguese-style cottages, colorfully patterned pavements, and some oddly named places. It was once a site of great charity and is now a nurturing ground for art, becoming a venue for young artists to create and display their work.
【Frenzy Hall Slope Lane】In the past, Macau had many leprosy patients who were despised and homeless. In the fifteenth century, a Catholic bishop funded the construction of a leprosy hospital called 'Frenzy Hall,' and the sloping path where Frenzy Hall was located became known as 'Frenzy Hall Slope Lane.' By the eighteenth century, the leprosy hospital moved to an outlying island, and 'Frenzy Hall' became a memory of charity.
【St. Lazarus Church】To preach to the sequestered leprosy patients, the bishop also built a small chapel called 'St. Lazarus' next to Frenzy Hall.
【Grand Frenzy Hall】In 1918, a Macau philanthropist built a 'Catholic school' on the original site of Frenzy Hall to provide free education for impoverished children in Macau. It has now been converted into a youth activity space and continues the legacy of charity, renamed 'Grand Frenzy Hall Art House'.
【Pó House】The entrance is entwined with green vines, and the name easily conjures up images of a magic academy. This courtyard includes two large trees and two two-story Southern European-style buildings. Currently, one building is a café, and the other is an art exhibition hall. In the past, this place was called 'House of the Poor,' and during World War II, it sheltered a large number of Portuguese refugees from Shanghai. Later, it became a home for elderly women, inhabited by old ladies, and the locals called it 'Pó House'.
【Transportation Guide】Behind the Ruins of St. Paul's, a 10-minute walk along Rua de Santo António leads to a flight of steps. Descending these steps will take you to Frenzy Hall Slope Lane.

Feng Tang Slope Alley - a small street lined with Southern European style buildings
Located in the Freguesia da Sé district of Macau, there is a colorful sloped street known as the Feng Tang Slope Alley, which got its name from a leprosy hospital that used to be there. Now that the hospital has moved, the colorful houses in the alley have become a vibrant space for artistic youth activities.
❤ Recommended because:
As you step onto the street, you can see that the ground is paved with colorful pebbles, which, according to locals, were originally all transported from Portugal.
The architecture in the street is unique, with exquisite and colorful European-style buildings like the Grand Feng Tang Art House, Feng Tang No. 10 Garden, and Pou's House, many of which are now used as youth activity centers, art and creative parks, and coffee houses. The Church of Our Lady of Hope is the earliest Chinese church in Macau.
Compared to other attractions in Macau, this place is not overcrowded.
📍 Detailed address: Feng Tang Slope Alley, Freguesia da Sé, Macau Special Administrative Region
🚉 Transportation strategy: Behind the Ruins of St. Paul's, walk along Rua do Monte for about 10 minutes to reach a set of stairs, descend the stairs, and you will find Feng Tang Slope Alley.

Magical and fashionable guide to Macau's old streets!
Recently, I've been particularly fond of strolling and eating in the old streets of Macau.
1⃣️Here is a strong atmosphere of life.
2️⃣️Love to explore various specialty foods in old streets.
3️⃣️You can capture unique Macau architecture.
❤️❤️❤️
Today I'm sharing a route of the old streets in Macau that I like to walk.
(I didn't intentionally remember the street names, later I looked up the place names on the photo album map)
📷
🌟After entering the border from Gongbei
You can take a car to 1⃣️Wynn Macau or 2⃣️The Venetian Macao.
Then use your phone's navigation to walk to "Dong Wangyang New Street".
🌟You can take super cool photos of the old street and the new Grand Lisboa Hotel on Dongwangyang New Street.
Many people come here to take photos. The best spot is around the "Jin Yue Yue Nan Beef Noodle" shop, which is also one of my favorite places. I love their raw beef rice.
🌟[Jin Yue Vietnamese Beef Noodle] This shop is about 10 meters away from a cool urban U-shaped road. The map shows it as [Luo Xianxin Street], a stone slab staircase. There are seats on the road that are very suitable for taking photos. There are characteristic Portuguese cuisine and specialty tea restaurants on both sides of the road, worth a try.
🌟Cross the street on the elevator at Luo Xianxin Street, then turn right and walk to the right side. This is Shui Keng Wei Street, where there are many sports brand stores, all the way to Holland Park Commercial Center, where there are many sports brand stores.
🌟Walk to the vicinity of Holland Park, and turn into "Fengtang New Street" where there are some trendy brand stores. If there are discounts, the cost performance is very high. Then keep walking to "Fengtang Diagonal Alley" where there are churches, unique buildings, creative shops, and cafes. It is very suitable for taking photos and checking in.
🌟Follow the stairs along "Fengtang Slope" and walk up to the three-way intersection towards "Gaoyuan Street". There are some Macau specialty shops on both sides of the road, and the products feel good. There is a delicious "Cheong Chau Ai Kwan Zhen Zheng Nuo Mi Zi" behind the Ruins of St. Paul's. When you get here, you are only 3-4 hundred meters away from the Ruins of St. Paul's.
🌟Walking out of "Rua da Felicidade", you can take some photos near the Ruins of St. Paul's. The windows on the second floor of Uniqlo, the right alley of Rua da Felicidade, and the Love Lane all have good photo spots.
🌟Then continue along "Rua da Ribeira do Patane", there are many specialty shops selling dried meat, cakes and pastries on both sides. Then I will slowly walk to "Rua da Felicidade", where there are many beef offal shops, just look for the one with a long queue. Order a $40 cowboy beef offal and eat slowly. Crossing "Rua da Felicidade" is the main church of Macau, which is also suitable for taking photos.
🌟Then walk south along the "Lobby Diagonal Alley", look up and you can see the Grand Lisboa, and soon you will arrive at the "Grand Lisboa".
🌟Then find the fortune bus nearby and take it to Guanzha or Taipa.
📢PS: Friendly reminder, be sure to wear comfortable shoes because the walking time is long and tiring. 🌟
