Historic buildings
The cathedral, built in the 13th century and located in the heart of Riga's old city, is a Gothic-style structure. The Baroque bell tower, built in 1690, was once the tallest wooden church bell tower in the world. The cathedral's preservation is a feat, having been burned down, collapsed by earthquakes, and even had its roof collapse. It was finally rebuilt in 1973, with the wooden bell tower replaced by a metal structure to increase its strength. In Riga, this is a great vantage point for overlooking the entire city. Visitors must purchase a ticket to enter the cathedral.
