Hubei Suizhou Museum is a local comprehensive museum with unique features and value. The building adopts the style of Chu and Han palaces, with one main and four wings, and "one hall and multiple platforms", reflecting the characteristics of "Chu City" and "Chime Bells". The museum has a rich collection, featuring bronze wares from the Shang and Zhou dynasties, and is known as the "Kingdom of Bronze Wares".
Highlights and must-see exhibits:
1. Rich collection of bronze wares:
Most of the existing collections in Suizhou Museum are bronze wares from the Shang and Zhou dynasties, and the craftsmanship of these bronze wares is exquisite, with beautiful and distinctive patterns, such as the God Face Patterned You with Ridge and Handle, and the God Face Patterned Fang Lei, etc. The patterns are mysterious and have a unique artistic style.
2. Unique historical and cultural displays:
The Lost Kingdom of Zeng (Sui): The "Lost Kingdom of Zeng (Sui)" exhibition hall of the museum attempts to unravel this historical mystery through the display of cultural relics and historical materials, allowing people to understand the historical development, political system, social life, and other aspects of the Zeng Kingdom.
The Hometown of Emperor Yan and Shennong: It displays the historical culture and legendary stories related to Emperor Yan and Shennong, such as the acquisition and production of food, allowing people to gain an in-depth understanding of the contributions of Emperor Yan and Shennong and the origin of Chinese civilization.
3. Precious burial artifacts:
A large number of artifacts were unearthed from the tomb of Marquis Yi of Zeng excavated in 1978, including the world-famous Chime Bells of Marquis Yi of Zeng, the Deer Antler Standing Crane of Marquis Yi of Zeng, and the Chime Stone of Marquis Yi of Zeng, etc. The No. 2 Tomb of Leigudun discovered in 1981 is only 102 meters away from the tomb of Marquis Yi of Zeng, and 449 artifacts were unearthed, including bronze ritual vessels, musical instruments, chariots and horses, jade and stone artifacts, etc.
4. Chime Bell Music and Dance Performance:
The performance time is usually at 10:30 am and 3:30 pm (may be adjusted according to the actual situation), each performance lasts about 20 minutes, and the ticket is CNY 40, but the live performance is very shocking, highly recommended.
