It was built in 1897 and was named after the reigning sultan of Selangor at the time.

The Sultan Abdul Samad Building is a beautiful example of classic Malay architecture. The red accents on the domes offer a lovely contrast to the off-white bricks. I think this is one of the loveliest buildings in #kualakumpur. #tripaway

Kuala Lumpur. A vibrant city. The capital of multicultural and multi-religious harmony.
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is a country composed of various religions, exuding an exotic atmosphere. Visit the Hindu holy site - Batu Caves, climb the 272 rainbow steps, and marvel at the majestic statues that make one feel the insignificance of humanity. The iconic attraction is, of course, the Petronas Twin Towers. Seeing it in person is the only way to truly appreciate its grandeur, especially at night when every photo looks surreal.
Mosques, each mosque is very unique, and the Pink Mosque is a must-visit; its color is truly stunning. When visiting several mosques, women should remember to dress modestly and cover their heads! Men should not wear shorts, and scarves are available for free inside.
The Sultan Abdul Samad Building and Independence Square are historically significant buildings, but unfortunately, you can only take photos from the outside.
I joined a day tour to Malacca, finally visiting a place often mentioned in textbooks. It is evident that this place was once ruled by many countries, leaving behind various historical buildings. I was particularly amazed that many buildings are over 300 years old and still well-preserved, which is truly impressive.
Of course, when in Kuala Lumpur, you must try the famous local snacks. There are so many options, such as Bak Kut Teh, Char Kway Teow, Nasi Lemak, Hokkien Mee, and many more. Each one is worth a try!
Looking forward to visiting other cities in Malaysia next time!

Literally Independence Square, it was formerly known as the Selangor Club Padang or simply the "Padang" and was originally the cricket green of the Selangor Club (now Royal Selangor Club).
It is 17th stop on Hop-On Hop-Off bus. The bus stops here for around 10 minutes. A 95-metre flagpole, one of the tallest in the world, is the key point. It is located at the southern end of the square. Some big photos of leaders is there. On August 31, 2007, Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi shouted 'Merdeka!' on midnight celebrations, where thousands of Malaysians celebrated 50 years of nationhood.
Surrounding the square are many buildings of historical interest. Just beside the square is the Sultan Abdul Samad Building currently the office of the Ministry of Information, Communication and Culture of Malaysia. Opposite the square is the famous Royal Selangor Club Complex built in 1884 as a meeting place for high-ranking members of the British colonial society. To the South is the former National History Museum. To the North is the St. Mary's Anglican Cathedral.overall ok

Merdeka Square in Malaysia boasts a history of a century
Merdeka Square is located in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. The construction of the square began in 1961 and was completed in 1976. It is one of the largest squares in the world. The square is home to buildings such as the National Monument of Malaysia. There are many historically valuable buildings around the square.
The Sultan Abdul Samad Building overlooks Merdeka Square and is one of the most prominent landmarks built by the British. The design was inspired by Mughal architecture in India and was completed in 1897. It housed the Secretariat of Selangor and was later converted into the Supreme Court.
After being abandoned for many years, it is now the site of the Ministry of Heritage, Culture, and Arts. Other notable buildings include the Tudor-styled Royal Selangor Club, the National History Museum (formerly the Chartered Bank Building), and the Memorial Library, as well as the Anglican St. Mary's Cathedral, a Gothic building over a hundred years old, and the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station.
