Sunwen Xilu, 孙文西路, is a short but pleasant pedestrian street in Zhongshan, Guangdong. It is similar to other late Qing-Republic of China towns or streets such as Daliang in Shunde. There are plenty of qilou and other period buildings, and they've been quite well preserved (the façades, anyhow). It probably looks broadly the same as when Sun Yat-sen himself walked along this street a century ago.
There are many places to get a snack or a drink along the street, as well as a few places for a more substantial meal. I opted for liangpi, 凉皮, and passionfruit iced tea from neighbouring shops on the small square midway along Sunwenxilu. It can get quite busy there around meal times but was pretty quiet around 11 on a Sunday morning.
Besides eating you can shop, mostly for knock-off clothes, or visit the neighbouring park, which is home to a famous pagoda. Afterwards take a stroll along the riverside or a ride on Zhongshan's imposing ferris wheel.

Xishan Temple in Zhongshan, a serene spot amidst the hustle and bustle
Located in the central area of Zhongshan City, Xishan, it was originally built during the Ming Dynasty. Initially, it served as a reading place for the Ming Dynasty local scholar Mao Kezhen, and was later converted into a temple. It has undergone multiple expansions and renovations during the Qing Dynasty's Shunzhi, Kangxi, Qianlong, Jiaqing, Xianfeng periods, as well as in the 10th year of the Republic of China (1921) and in 1988. A quiet Buddhist retreat in the midst of a commercial street.

Classic old street in Zhongshan
#christmastrip
My walk on Sunwen Xi Road in Zhongshan felt like a trip through time and cool places. The street has old buildings that look really nice, and the white painting give it a classic touch.
While I strolled, I found shops, cafes, and markets with interesting things. Sunwen Xi Road isn't just a regular street; it's like a mix of old and new Zhongshan. You can see old-style shops and also cool art places. It's a great spot for people who like history and those who want a taste of modern Zhongshan.
The street has things to explore, from the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall to yummy local food places. Sunwen Xi Road made my time in Zhongshan special, showing how the city keeps its history while also having fun new things to enjoy.
