5 THINGS YOU MUST KNOW ABOUT FINLAND 🇫🇮
We did a big road trip all across Finland in winter and it was one of our most favorite but also most freezing trips ever 😁 Here are our tips:
🗺️ Places to visit / Things to do:
1. Watch the Northern Lights 🌌 In northern Finland you can see them during a clear night between September to April 🥹 We were there in January.
2.&3. Stay in a glass igloo ❄️ We stayed at @kakslauttanen_arctic_resort (*Azeige) and it was so magical ❤️ Their roofs are heated so you can see the sky all night and they even have an alarm for northern lights 💫
4. Kemi 🩷 There’s also an igloo village (open for day tourists but also to spend the night 🥶)
5. Go for a husky sleigh ride 🛷
6.&7. Helsinki
8. Visit a reindeer farm 🦌
9.&10. Oulanka National Park 💦
Make sure to visit Santa Claus in Rovaniemi & cross the Arctic Circle ❄️😍
🚗 How to get around
Definitely by car! If you travel in winter make sure your car is a 4x4 (we got stuck in the snow once and a tractor had to pull us out 😂)
🏨 Where to stay?
There are many unique accommodations in Finland! Like tree houses, igloos, cozy cabins in the woods and much more 🤗 Many of these are quite expensive but it’s really worth it!
⏰ Best time to visit
All year round 🤗 In the winter it’s very magical with all the snow but also extremely cold so make sure to be prepared 🧣
🐶 Is Finland dog friendly?
Overall yes but most restaurants don’t allow dogs. Better check in advance if the activities you want to do are dog friendly. At the husky sleigh farm / reindeer farm we couldn’t bring Felix for example.
We hope this mini guide was helpful 🤗 Let us know if you have any questions ❤️❄️ #finland #northernlights #aurora #travel #guide #bestof #winter #winterwonderland

One of the best tourist attraction near Helsinki. It was a castle built to protect capital from foreign forces. It is very accessible via ferry from Helsinki port. This island is protected by UNESCO because its story and probably its fortress. Really lovely place. Definitely recommend a visit to walk around and enjoy the nature.

Exploring Helsinki
Helsinki, the capital of Finland, is a city renowned for its design, sea-facing landscape, and vibrant cultural scene. Combining contemporary architecture with classic Nordic traditions, Helsinki offers a tranquil yet dynamic urban environment, making it a fascinating destination for travelers seeking both innovation and history.
What to Expect
Helsinki’s design scene is integral to its identity, with the city being named a UNESCO City of Design. The Design District encompasses several blocks of shops, galleries, and cafes, where local and international designers display their work. Architectural highlights include the futuristic Oodi Library and the historic Helsinki Cathedral. The city's relationship with nature is also evident in its abundant parks and waterfront areas, which offer peaceful retreats from the urban hustle.
Experiences and Recommendations
A visit to Suomenlinna, a sea fortress spread across six islands, provides a scenic and historical day trip accessible by a short ferry ride. The fortress is a UNESCO World Heritage site and offers walking paths, museums, and cafes. Art enthusiasts will appreciate the contemporary Kiasma Museum, as well as the more traditional National Museum of Finland, which provides insights into Finnish history and culture. For a taste of local life, explore the Hakaniemi Market Hall where you can sample Finnish delicacies and shop for handmade crafts.
Tips and Tricks
The best time to visit Helsinki is during the summer months when the city enjoys long, light days and temperatures are comfortable for exploring. However, if you're after a winter wonderland experience, visiting in December through February offers a chance to see Helsinki covered in snow, with opportunities for ice skating and other winter sports. Public transportation is efficient and covers all parts of the city, making it easy to get around without a car.
Personal Reflections
Walking along the shoreline of Helsinki, watching boats drift by against a backdrop of modern architecture juxtaposed with old world buildings, was exceptionally calming. The city’s commitment to public spaces and cultural heritage makes it a model for urban living, where history and progress harmonize beautifully.
Helsinki's charm lies in its ability to maintain a serene, orderly atmosphere while promoting cutting-edge design and culture. This unique blend makes it an ideal destination for those looking to immerse themselves in a progressive yet deeply traditional urban setting.

Winter in Finland is truly more beautiful than you can imagine
A travel guide to Finland can include the following steps:
1. Visit the Helsinki Cathedral: This is the most famous building in Helsinki, with its eye-catching milky white and green top. There are many exquisite murals and sculptures in the cathedral, where you can experience the romance of Finland.
2. Visit the Fortress of Finland: It was once a military fortress and is listed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO. The Fortress of Finland in the snow has changed its appearance, it is still a silver-white world, but it has a different charm.
3. Visit the Rock Church: It is located in the Temppeliaukio Rock Square in the center of Helsinki, carefully designed by the architect Suomalainen brothers, and is the only church in the world built in the rock.
Precautions: Pay attention to personal safety during travel, travel civilized, be a civilized tourist

Since Suomenlinna is a famous sea defence site, many people come to Suomenlinna and will be immersed in the buildings and museums in the fort.
And really walked out of the fort to the beach, it is not the same natural scenery. A person on the vast seashore, blowing the sea breeze, watching the ice drifting, although a bit cold, but the scenery is still a lever, the Finnish version of the Blue Ice Lake!

Helsinki, the capital of Finland, is a well-known tourist city in Northern Europe, covered by snow and ice for about half a year. The old town of Helsinki is not large and is suitable for walking tours. There is also a well-known attraction in Helsinki, where almost everyone goes, the Suomenlinna in the sea.
Suomenlinna was originally a military fortress, designed by the Swedes, and the name was also called "Swedish Fortress". The military fort began in 1748 and was designed and built by the young Swedish officer Austen Alan Wright, but it was not built until the end of the 18th century.
From the city of Helsinki, you can take a boat to Suomenlinna. The military fort more than 200 years ago has now become a tourist attraction. The island is free to open and visitors can travel to the island simply by purchasing a ticket. The island has many military facilities, walls, fortresses, cannons, etc., as well as a beautiful church.
In 1991, Suomenlinna was listed as a World Heritage Site. There are now ten museums on the island, including the Coastal Fortress Museum, the Wesco Submarine Museum and the Doll Toy Museum. Some museums are charged separately.
Shinjuku Fortress is mainly located on the three islands of Dahei, Xiaohei Island and Langya Island. These three islands are connected to each other and can be visited on foot. There are also some residents on the island. Under the snow in winter, some of the islands local cabins are very beautiful.

Built more than 250 years ago, Suomenlinna is a masterpiece designed by the master Okostin. It is very well preserved and is one of the largest military defense military missions in the world. It is of great significance.
Finnish Fortress is located in the offshore of Helsinki. It is necessary to take a boat at the port. The port is an unmanned ticketing system. It needs to be purchased on the machine and it can be reached in about 20 minutes.
On the island does not require tickets, it is open all year round, but the schedule varies slightly depending on the season. The island has churches, military camps, city gates and other monuments, so it is also one of Finland's most famous attractions, but some museums need to pay a certain amount of tickets, ranging from 5-15 euros, can be chosen according to personal preferences.
The entire Suomenlinna has been listed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO and it is worth a look!

Helsinki has a 100-kilometer coastline and more than 300 islands. The large central park and forest stretch out beyond the city centre... Suomenlinna is one of the best places to visit and the most worthwhile.
I spent a little more than two euros at the city centre terminal and bought a ticket to Suomenlinna (the round-trip ferry sailed all year round, every 40 minutes for the ferry). Twenty minutes later, I was placed in Suomenlinna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This archipelago base was built in the mid-18th century (when Finland was part of Sweden), with six small islands and a number of different themed museums. With friends, follow the Finns' rhythm and sneak around while you don't have to worry about time. The last ferry will return to the city from the island very late.
There are many cannons of Russian rule during the vicinity of the King's Gate in Suomenlinna. Those cannons can be said to be the symbol of Suomenlinna, and they are still kept on the sandbank, and the cannons are so large that they can put their heads in. There are no tickets for Suomenlinna unless you want to visit the six museums on the island. Tickets are only purchased separately when visiting a museum. In the summer, you can also purchase a coupon for these six museums, valid for the entire summer (May 1 to September 30).

Suomenlinna is built on a small island off the coast of Helsinki and is a masterpiece designed by Austin. Built more than 250 years ago, it is one of the largest sea defence military fortresses in the world and the most important and famous attraction in Finland. The Finnish castle also has monuments and historical sites such as churches, military camps, and gates. There are rare marine military relics in the world. In 1991, the Finnish castle was protected by UNESCO's World Heritage List. Suomenlinna is built on a small island off the coast of Helsinki. There is a special small pier on the island called Kauppatori Marina, near the St. John's Church in Helsinki, near the open-air market. (I heard that in the summer, you can also take JT. -Line company's water bus.) Just near the pier, there are several machines for automatic ticket sales. There is also a small ticket house, but no one sells tickets. The role of this pavilion is only used to shelter from the wind? When there is no sunshine, the pier is really cold to the bones. Figure 1 The King's Gate: A symbol of the Suomenlinna, built for military parade between 1753-1754. It is said that the location of the Kings Gate is where the Swedish King Adolf Fredrik anchored the ship when he visited the project in 1752.

The red and white church is sacred and solemn. It is a photo with Santa Claus and a circle of friends. Take a look at the beautiful Finnish Fort in the snow. Experience the rare icebreaker all the way to the west. The Nordic town at night is like a fairy tale, and it is well known. The second Hara sleigh rides, remembering that the aurora filled with the sky makes you unforgettable. When you come to Finland, you can not only see the magnificent Aurora, but also see Santa Claus, let him give the Christmas gift to you, is it better?
