Ta Keo Khmer Food
#bucketlistreboot
Around 3.2 kilometers 10 minutes drive from Bayon Temple via Victory Gate. The restaurant is just beside Ta Keo one of the temples in Angkor.
Having some local food with a view of the temple, they also serve western food.
The price is slightly expensive, but early pick up by the tour at 0415hrs for the sunrise tour, until 0930 hrs, my stomach cannot take it. Anyway the food i order: chicken fried with cashew nut and vegetables taste good. The coconut shake also good.

After the break, rush to the first attraction in the afternoon, Ta Keo.
Tea Gum Temple is translated into Ta Gao Temple. It is a natural and unadorned temple. If it is finally built, it is undoubtedly one of the most exquisite buildings in Angkor. Built by Jeremiah V and dedicated to Shiva, it is the first Angkor temple built entirely of sandstone.
Tea Gum Temple is not big, it takes about 30 minutes to complete the tour. The top of the central tower is about 50 meters high and there are four relatively low pagodas around. The 4 towers are located at the four corners of a square, and the fifth tower is located in the center. This design is typical of the temples of Angkor.
As we all know, the Tea Gum Temple was repaired by the Chinese team. Tea Gum Temple is a tower of the King Kong Tower, a hard long strip of bluestone, neatly stacked on a three-story platform. The stairs are steep and not easy to climb. Be sure to slow down and slowly go up along the sides. On the entrance door, there are few carvings on the entire temple.
Carrying a camera and a heavy backpack, it is not easy to climb such a ladder. People who are uncomfortable with their hands and feet may have troubles when they are off the tower. The surrounding four square-shaped square towers are visible without excessive decoration and are made up of stone blocks. Hard sandstone can't be carved, which is why this temple lacks decoration. The clouds in the sky are quite thick, and it seems that there will be a rain coming soon. The foreigners who are climbing will have a leisurely view of the scenery in the central tower.
No one can determine why this temple has not been completed. There is a view that it may be that the construction of the temple was abandoned halfway through the construction of the temple. According to the inscription, the Tea Gum Temple was struck by lightning during the construction process, perhaps because of this ominous sign that it was abandoned.

Ta Keo Temple 🇰🇭
#2024wish
I recently embarked on a journey to explore the magnificent Ta Keo Temple nestled in the enchanting Siem Reap Province. This awe-inspiring temple not only offers breathtaking views but also serves as a testament to the rich ancient history of Cambodia. The sheer beauty of its intricate artistry and remarkable architectural design left me exhilarated, as I marveled at the incredible craftsmanship that went into its creation.
Ta Keo, one of the most towering structures in Angkor, stands as a testament to the architectural prowess of Jayavarman V. This mountain temple boasts five sanctuaries perched atop a magnificent five-tiered pyramid, soaring 22 meters high. From this vantage point, visitors can marvel at the breathtaking vistas of the surrounding landscape. The pyramid design of Ta Keo was meticulously crafted to symbolize Mount Meru, a sacred mountain revered in Hindu mythology as the cosmic center of the universe. Although dedicated to the deity Shiva, this colossal sandstone monument was left incomplete at the beginning of the 11th century. The exact reason for the abrupt halt in construction remains a mystery, coinciding with the time when artisans were beginning to embellish the temple with intricate decorations.
When you visit Cambodia, you will find a destination that adds significance to your travels and leaves a lasting impression. It is a place that creates memorable experiences and meaningful memories. I have set my sights on revisiting this remarkable place in 2024. #takeotemple #historicallandmarks #localguides #mytravelhacks #ancienttemples

Visiting the Ta Keo temple in Angkor was a mesmerizing journey into the heart of Khmer architecture. Believed to be the first entirely constructed from sandstone by the Khmer Empire, the temple stands as a testament to the empire's engineering prowess. The majestic structure is a Sandstone Temple-mountain, featuring five towers atop a step pyramid base, symbolizing Mount Meru, the cosmic mountain in Hindu mythology.
As I ascended the steep steps, each level revealed intricate carvings and detailed reliefs, showcasing the rich cultural and religious significance embedded in every stone. The sense of awe and reverence permeated the air, and from the temple's pinnacle, the panoramic view of the surrounding jungle added an extra layer of enchantment to this historical pilgrimage.

Brief history of Ta Keo
Ta Keo is a temple mountain located in Angkor, Cambodia. It was built during the Khmer Empire in the late 10th or early 11th century under the reign of King Jayavarman V. The temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and was originally named Hemasringagiri, meaning "mountain of the golden peaks." However, it was later renamed Ta Keo, which means "ancestor's tower."
Ta Keo is considered one of the most impressive temple mountains in Angkor due to its size and the quality of its construction. It was built entirely from sandstone and is made up of five levels, each one smaller than the one below it. The temple has steep stairs leading up to the top level, which offers fantastic views of the surrounding area.

Ta Keo is a temple mountain possibly the first to be built entirely of sandstone by the Khmer Empire in the early 11th century by Jayavarman V.
Located just a couple of minutes drive either from Bayon or Ta Prohm temple.
Its five sanctuaries are placed on top of a 22 metres high five step pyramid from where there are good views of the surroundings.
Ta Keo is very popular because it was an unfinished temple, the surroundings are thick jungle, when you stand at the top Ta Keo, you can just see the top of the green trees in all directions.

I actually loved this temple - it’s the most fun I had at any temple. The reason is that the climb to the top is extremely steep. It’s as close to vertical as you could imagine. Was drenched in sweat in the end after climbing up nearly 70 steps (getting down was a fun challenge!) - one to really enjoy if you are physically fit, one to avoid if you don’t like heights! #wintergetaway

The name of the Tea Gum Temple is "ancient crystal" and is said to have been built as a touchstone for the construction of the Angkor Temple. The temple was built by the Jayamo V in the early 11th century, but due to the sudden death of the king, When the temple was built, it was hit by four lightning strikes. The people thought this was a bad omen, so the temple was abandoned after it was unfinished.
Because it is not finished, the Chajiao Temple has almost no wall carvings, and there are not many visitors here. Instead, there is a feeling of tranquility in the ancient temple, climbing a steep stone ladder and climbing the temple at the top. Everything belongs to you.
