Taiyuan Botanical Garden Travel Guide
Taiyuan is a city with a rich history. The ancient Jinci Temple tells of its glorious past, while the bustling Liuxiang Street is full of life. Taiyuan Botanical Garden is like a green treasure waiting to be discovered.
🌳Travel Route:
Once you enter the botanical garden, head straight to the Tropical Rainforest Pavilion🌴. As soon as you step in, the hot and humid air hits you, as if you have been transported to a tropical jungle. Tall palm trees block out the sun, and various rare tropical flowers compete for attention. There are flaming red anthuriums, pitcher plants with uniquely shaped flowers, and strings of purple orchids. Follow the winding path, and you will find new surprises at every turn.
Next, head to the Desert Plant Pavilion. This is the kingdom of cacti and succulents. The cacti are tall and straight, some like pillars, some like balls, and all covered in sharp spines. The succulents are also adorable, with plump, juicy leaves that make you want to pinch them.
Finally, head to the Flower Pavilion🌸. The pavilion is filled with blooming flowers all year round, and in autumn, chrysanthemums take center stage. Golden, white, and light purple chrysanthemums cluster together to form a colorful sea of flowers. The large chrysanthemums are like hydrangeas, while the small ones are like stars. A gentle breeze makes them sway, and a faint floral fragrance fills the air.
🌟Travel Experience:
Taiyuan Botanical Garden is amazing! The Tropical Rainforest Pavilion makes me feel like I'm in a primeval forest, and every tropical plant is like a work of art crafted by nature. The Desert Plant Pavilion is also impressive, showing me how resilient plants can be in the arid desert. The chrysanthemum exhibition in the Flower Pavilion is beautiful, and walking among the flowers makes all my worries disappear. Strolling through the botanical garden, I feel relaxed and at peace. This is a great place to forget your fatigue and enjoy the beauty of nature. I highly recommend it to all travel and nature lovers!💕

Taiyuan Botanical Garden|The Romance of a Starry Sky
Locals don't even know‼️
Taiyuan Botanical Garden is truly beautiful
It's the romance of a starry sky
Especially at dusk
I would call it
The pinnacle of a dreamy botanical garden
🔸As a native of Taiyuan, my first visit to Jinyang Lake was for a fireworks show, and my first visit to the ancient county town was after the movie 'Full River Red'🔥, but I had never been to the Taiyuan Botanical Garden. Although I saw it online, the distance and doubts about its authenticity always deterred me.
🔸During this holiday, I went to the botanical garden with a friend and was amazed! Note‼️ Be sure to wear a beautiful dress, and it's recommended to go in the afternoon. Visit the botanical garden + take photos📷 with the popular elevator, super photogenic! You can take a bus🚌 or Di🚕; tickets can be booked online or bought on-site, and you can enter at specific times. The staff are super nice.
🌟When you enter the botanical garden hall, you'll be attracted by some plants inside. Follow the route, and you'll see the three main halls from afar, each housing different types of plants. There are many ducks🦆 and swans🦢 by the lake, and it's really beautiful under the sunset glow! You can take some silhouette photos!
🌟In the evening, when the lights come on, it feels totally worth it. There will be many people at the elevator at first, but you can get a better view of the three halls from the rooftop. You can take stunning photos from different angles of the buildings.
🌟Besides learning about various types of plants, Taiyuan Botanical Garden🌳 also offers architectural landscape photography and beautiful scenery to capture. Watching the elevator go up and down, hearing the laughter of tourists, and seeing the twinkling stars on both sides is truly stunning! There are fewer tourists later in the evening, making it the perfect time to take the photos of a lifetime.

Check-in at Taiyuan Botanical Garden
I went from Jinci to the Botanical Garden,
which is very close, and took a taxi via Huaxiaozhu.
The price was about 10 yuan.
August 28, 2024
Entered the garden around 4 PM
There were quite a lot of people, and the weather was quite hot.
My suggestion is to visit the three pavilions first.
However, relatively speaking, the first and third pavilions are somewhat similar.
But the third pavilion is very small, mainly featuring rare plants, but they don't look very different.
As for the second pavilion, it is currently under renovation, featuring desert-type tropical plants.
After finishing the tour, I was really tired.
There is a restaurant downstairs where you can eat, but the prices are relatively high. I suggest bringing some food yourself.
After the tour, go up the spiral staircase above the restaurant.
There is a large lawn.
It's quite nice to sit there and take pictures when the sun is about to set.
While waiting for the lights to come on,
I took the sightseeing car around 7 PM, and the tour lasted about half an hour.
There are two types of cars, one is a sightseeing car, and the other is a small train.
The small train does not stop, while the sightseeing car stops and allows you to get on and off at various points.
Then I took a big circle, mainly visiting the other scattered pavilions in the botanical garden,
but you don't need to look very closely.
The sightseeing car stops at the zoo, where you can feed small animals and ride horses.
There are relatively few animals.
The second stop is the lookout tower shown in picture 1.
The timing was perfect, so I could see some night views.
When I went back, it was already dark, so I managed to take picture 2.
I left around 8 PM.
It was a bit difficult to get a taxi. So we decided to go to a farther place, where the drivers were more likely to accept the ride, and went directly to Zhonglou Street, which cost about 32 yuan.
My suggestion is that after leaving the botanical garden, it is relatively easier to get a taxi if you walk to the opposite side of the road.

Taiyuan Botanical Garden, a little happiness in spring! Hi, babies! Today I'm going to take you
🍃Taiyuan Botanical Garden, a little happiness in spring!
Hi, babies! Today I'm going to take you to a super healing place - Taiyuan Botanical Garden! 🌸 This place is simply an oasis in the city, making people feel great.
🌳 As soon as you enter, you are surrounded by a sea of green, as if you have stepped into a fairy tale world. Various exotic flowers and plants are dazzling, and there are new discoveries with every step.
🐦 Not only that, but the little animals here are also super cute! Look at the little squirrel over there, jumping around, it's simply adorable! And those birds, their songs are crisp and pleasant, making people feel refreshed.
🌼 What surprised me the most is that there is actually a large sea of tulips here! The colorful flowers shine brilliantly under the sun, so beautiful that it takes your breath away. I took so many photos here, each one as beautiful as a postcard! 😍
🌿 Strolling in the Taiyuan Botanical Garden, feeling the charm of nature, is really a kind of enjoyment. Have you ever been to any particularly beautiful botanical gardens? Come and share!

Autumn Leisure Garden Tour: A Zen Guide to Taiyuan Botanical Garden
🌞 Leisurely Stroll on an Autumn Afternoon On a cool autumn day, choosing to visit Taiyuan Botanical Garden in the afternoon is an ideal way to experience the beauty of nature. During this garden tour, we did not enter the indoor pavilions but instead enjoyed the outdoor autumn scenery, unexpectedly capturing some stunning photos📸. The weather was clear with a gentle breeze, making it particularly comfortable. However, the temperature difference in Taiyuan during autumn is significant, so it is wise to bring a jacket🧥.
🚶 Easy Entry and Convenient Parking We chose to enter the garden around 4:30 PM, just in time to avoid the peak crowd (entry stops after 6:00 PM⛔). The ticket price is 50 yuan, with more favorable prices during the off-season (only 30 yuan from November to March, children enjoy half-price, and teachers with a qualification certificate enter for free🆓). Parking is very convenient, with four parking lots available in the botanical garden. It is recommended to go directly to Parking Lot 4 to avoid congested exits🚗.
🍂 Comfortable In-Garden Strolling Route After entering the garden, you can choose to take a tour bus (10 yuan/person), with tickets including the service of getting on and off at intermediate stops. It is recommended to get off at the third stop, the viewing platform, to enjoy the high-altitude scenery and continue walking to the fairy-like small waterfall. If you are with children, you can get off at the previous stop, the Pet Paradise, to let the kids interact with the animals🐑. The scenery and fresh air at the viewing platform are very pleasant, making it a great place for photos📷.
🌷 Autumn Scenery and Leisurely Camping Continue walking to the Horticultural Town. Although there are more people, the tulip fields🌷 are still magnificent and splendid. The park is spacious, making it perfect for bringing a small blanket to quietly enjoy the autumn sunshine on the grass☀. As the sun sets, resting on the grass with a cool breeze feels like time has slowed down. This leisurely time is highly recommended with five stars✨.
🌙 Stunning Night Views and Romantic Moments As night falls, the night view of the botanical garden is breathtaking. Around 7:20 PM, the night lights in the distant woods gradually light up, making it feel like entering a fairy tale world🌌. Especially when the 'Time Elevator' lights up, everyone gasps in amazement. It feels like being in a dreamlike realm where a science museum and botanical garden intertwine, so beautiful it leaves you speechless. If a few stars✨ were sprinkled in the sky, the scene would be even more unforgettable.

The Taiyuan Botanical Garden is such a surprise and so romantic!
🍄🍄Taiyuan Botanical Garden|Here lies the romance of a starry galaxy
The Taiyuan Botanical Garden is such a surprise and so romantic!
🔥🔥The 60-meter-long popular escalator, like a time tunnel, with twinkling lights against the blue night sky, gives a feeling of a starry sea and a dazzling galaxy, truly stunning.
🍀🍀This most beautiful botanical garden integrates technology and ecology. Its unique wooden grid dome structure of the greenhouse complex won the ENR2021 Global Best Project award, and it was the only project from China selected that year.🦊🦊
🌻🌻The wooden grid framework of the three domes, with the largest span of the three arches being 90 meters, is one of the largest wooden grid structures in the world! The crystal-clear domes gently rest by the water's edge, like bubbles that have opened up, pure and powerful.🐱
🌺🌺Enter through the east gate directly to the reptile house and the botanical science museum, and then you can go to the three spheres which are the tropical rainforest, the xerophytic plant museum, and the flower pavilion.🌷
🌕🌕The tropical rainforest and the xerophytic plant museum are the most worth visiting, and they are also the best spots for taking photos. The lush vines are neatly arranged, surrounded by exotic flowers and plants that bloom in clusters, and the jungle that blocks out the sun is always humid and filled with a fairy-like aura, with the sounds of insects and birds, and ancient trees stretching out comfortably. Inside it's very cool, with multiple air outlets blowing cool air, so even on hot days, children won't feel hot!🌟

It's hard to imagine that this is an indoor botanical garden in the north!
It's hard to imagine that this is an indoor botanical garden in the north! I was really amazed! I didn't want to leave after taking so many photos! This is the Taiyuan Botanical Garden.
The places I visited this time were the Tropical Rainforest Pavilion and the Xerophytic Plant Pavilion. For those who love plants, this place is truly a paradise. The tropical plants grow lushly, with various vines climbing densely. Each plant has a brief introduction, and I saw many large trees that I had only seen in books before. In one exhibition hall, you can experience the jungle environment where the foliage blocks out the sky, as well as the humid and warm tropical climate. This feeling is really wonderful.

Taiyuan is really great, I will definitely travel here again
Travel by train🚄
Taiyuan to Shijiazhuang train 35.5
There are no trams in Taiyuan, only shared bicycles! Try to hail a taxi through a platform.
There are direct buses to many places, including from the train station to Jinci and the Botanical Garden. Bus 308 can take you to many places, refer to Amap for details.
Delicious food🍜
I've eaten a lot of snacks, but didn't get to try the old Taiyuan restaurant because it was too crowded and I couldn't get a number. If you really want to try it, make sure to go early. It's near the entrance of Zhonglou Street, very close.
Snack recommendations
1⃣️ Leaky Fish: Sour, spicy, and smooth, very delicious, it doesn't feel like super sour vinegar, it's sweet and slippery. Only six yuan!!!
2⃣️ Bowl Tuo: You can split it yourself, it has a very unique texture, and the sauce is more or less the same, also quite tasty. Five yuan
3⃣️ Sea Buckthorn Juice: Sour and sweet, I really like it, feels very appetizing, and you can find it in many places on the street. Five yuan
4⃣️ Cold Cake, Egg Fermented Rice Wine: Bought at the Mouse Hole, only three yuan, tastes similar to zongzi, but also topped with a layer of osmanthus sauce. The egg fermented rice wine is not sweet, very nice to drink, I didn't order the sweet rice balls because I read in the travel guide that they are too sweet, but this fermented rice wine is really good and only six yuan.
5⃣️ God's Fried Chicken: Two people can just buy one, I thought it was small and bought two, but it's bigger than a face!!! 56 for two. My first impression was that it's expensive, but it took a long time to finish eating, the skin is crispy, just a bit salty.
Avoid these🙅🙅🙅
1⃣️ Dipped Skewers
Not very tasty, two people ate twenty-one, I didn't see what was written on it, the first line was one yuan for three skewers, the following was three yuan per skewer, and then it turned out to be three yuan, and the sauce, besides the vinegar being very sour, everything else tasted the same. The one I ate at wasn't good.
2⃣️ Knife-Cut Noodles
Maybe I didn't choose the right one, it tasted like homemade noodles, the noodles were chewy, just the sauce on top wasn't tasty.
Attractions
top1 Jinci
It's really super big, Jinci Park is already very large, free of charge, and super beautiful, with lakes, flowers and grass, and pavilions, very photogenic.📷
top2 Taiyuan Botanical Garden🎆
The starry sky elevator is absolutely beautiful, but be sure to note that once the lights are on, it's basically impossible to go up because many people are queuing. You can also take beautiful photos from below. The indoor pavilions are also very good, but it's very crowded during holidays, so the experience isn't that great. It's pretty good in itself, you can take a car in the scenic area, ten yuan for a round trip. Be sure to note⚠️ if you're not driving there, it's best to leave early, because everyone comes out around eight or nine o'clock, and it's impossible to get a taxi. We tried for a long time, and then walked back, a strenuous five kilometers, luckily the exit wasn't too far.

It's hard to imagine that this is an indoor botanical garden in the north!
I'm truly amazed! I didn't want to leave after taking photos inside! This is the Taiyuan Botanical Garden.
There are three exhibition halls inside, one of which is under maintenance. So, this time I visited the Tropical Rainforest Pavilion and the Psammophyte Pavilion. For those who love plants, this place is truly a paradise. The tropical plants grow lushly, with various vines climbing in an orderly fashion. Each plant has a brief introduction, and I saw many large trees that I had only seen in books before. In one pavilion, you can experience the jungle environment where the foliage blocks out the sky, as well as the humid and warm tropical climate. This feeling is really wonderful.
The Psammophyte Pavilion is also a favorite of mine, with two tall baobab trees inside! Other desert plants are also beautifully grown, and there's even a succulent plant wall. Whether for science education or photography, this place is an excellent environment.
Because it was a sandy day in the northern spring when I visited, I didn't take many photos outside the pavilion. The famous internet-famous elevator lights up at six o'clock, but I didn't wait because the wind was too strong. I hope to come back when the weather is better.
The Taiyuan Botanical Garden is a botanical garden that integrates technology and ecology, rebuilt by the Austrian Delugan Meissl Associated Architects on the site of an old coal mine. Its unique wooden grid dome structure of the greenhouse complex won the ENR 2021 Global Best Project award, and it was the only project from China selected that year.

The ever-growing greenery is always filled with hope
The Shanxi Museum + Taiyuan Botanical Garden is a great destination for a family trip. The museum is not very big and is easy to navigate. You can rent a cart for the little ones, and the public facilities are very accommodating. It is recommended to take the elevator directly to the fourth floor and then explore each floor by descending. The museum's treasure, the Bird Zun, is on the second floor. There were quite a lot of people during the May Day holiday, which made it difficult to take good photos. The museum showcases exquisite architecture from all over Shanxi, which really deserves to be appreciated when it's less crowded.
After leaving the museum, we went to a Shanxi-style restaurant to try some local dishes. Personally, I'm not a fan of kaolao lao, but the braised meat, sweet and sour fish, and other dishes were delicious.
In the afternoon, we arrived at the botanical garden. The taxi ride was slow due to traffic, and the garden was packed with people. It was hard to stop and take photos because the crowd would push you forward. The tropical rainforest pavilion was truly spectacular, but the air quality suffered due to the crowds. Overall, it's worth a visit, and the experience would be even better with fewer people. Oh, and we also saw a theater performance, which was quite good and suitable for children.

If you want to see the "Angel's Horn", come here
This is Taiyuan's first ecological botanical garden!
Nestled at the foot of the beautiful Mount Tai, there are three exhibition greenhouses like three pearls embedded by the scenic lake.
They are: the Tropical Rainforest Pavilion, the Xerophytic Plant Pavilion, and the Rare Plants and Seasonal Flowers Pavilion.
The largest is the tropical greenhouse with over 1,500 species of tropical plants, creating a typical tropical rainforest environment.
The medium-sized one is the desert greenhouse, which, by recreating desert landscapes and planting xerophytic plants, allows people far from desert environments to experience exotic ambiences without leaving their homes.
The smallest is the seasonal greenhouse, which will display corresponding plants and flowers in different seasons.
Yellow Datura, there it is!
The flowering period is in summer and autumn.
The whole plant is poisonous, with the flowers and seeds being the most toxic.

Lots of beautiful butterflies🦋, skip to the next stop if you're afraid of bugs

Exit the Insect Pavilion, go straight out of the building, walk forward a bit to the lake, lots of fish by the shore, red ones swimming around beautifully, and several pairs of black swans and many ducklings

5️⃣Ride around the park
(Petting Zoo➕Observation Deck➕Peacock Garden) From the last sphere, walk forward to the ride spot, it's recommended to choose the big car which should be 10 yuan per person, the park is actually quite large, the car will stop at each scenic spot, remember not to lose your ticket, it will be checked each time you board.
The observation deck is worth climbing for the view, it's quite high and you can see far; the Petting Zoo has alpacas, rabbits, horses, and sheep; you can skip the Peacock Garden without getting off, because if you want to go in you have to spend money to buy food to feed them, they won't let you in without feeding...

The popular elevator lights up around eight o'clock in the evening, depending on the season it's later in the summer. You can sit by the lake and feed the ducks, take pictures of the swans, enjoy the cool breeze in the evening, or go back to the entrance building, turn right after entering and there's a plant specimen exhibition hall.

Hidden Taiyuan Botanical Garden

Does anyone know where this is? It's so cinematic
I didn't expect Taiyuan to have such a beautiful botanical garden. Having seen so many botanical gardens, this one is currently my top pick, surpassing the one in Beijing. Those who like architecture and plants must check it out!
1. The internationally renowned Austrian DMAA Architecture + German Valentin City Planning and Landscape Design Firm designed it, it feels so futuristic!
2. The ticket price is 50, slightly expensive, with three exhibition halls: tropical rainforest, desert, and flowers. I love the tropical rainforest and desert.
3. It's about twenty to thirty yuan by taxi from the main urban area, just locate 'Taiyuan Botanical Garden'.
4. It opens at nine in the morning and closes at eight in the evening, with no entry after six o'clock, so be mindful of the time.
5. I recommend going around six o'clock to watch the sunset, and the lights will probably come on around seven-thirty.
6. After the lights are on, go take photos at the big elevator, it's stunningly beautiful, with the blue sky and twinkling scenery, a perfect match.
7. It's also a pleasure to feel the breeze there at night.
8. There is a restaurant inside where you can eat, my bowl of noodles cost 33 yuan.
9. The mini train is not worth riding, not cost-effective.
Travel & Taste
This is actually the Taiyuan Botanical Garden! It's such a surprise and so romantic!
There is a galaxy of romance here! The 60-meter-long internet-famous escalator is like a time tunnel, with twinkling lights set against the blue night sky, giving a feeling of a starry sea and a dazzling galaxy, it's really stunning~
This is the most beautiful botanical garden that integrates technology and ecology! The wooden grid structure of the three domes, with the largest span of the arches reaching 90 meters, is one of the largest wooden grid structures in the world! The crystal-clear domes gently rest beside the water's edge, pure and powerful!
Route: Enter from the east gate and go straight to the reptile and botanical science museums, then you can visit the three spheres which are the tropical rainforest, desert plant museum, and flower pavilion.
The tropical rainforest and desert plant museum are the most worth visiting, and they are the best for taking photos! The lush vines are densely packed, and the strange and exotic flowers that I can't name are blooming in clusters, the jungle that blocks out the sun is always humid and full of a fairy-like aura, with the sounds of insects and birds, ancient trees stretching out their bodies, it's very cool inside, with multiple air outlets blowing cool air, so it won't be hot even on high-temperature days...
Near evening, you can play in the water by the lake in the garden, watch koi, mandarin ducks, swans, and wait for the lights to come on at 8 o'clock. The botanical garden is quite large, which is very suitable for walking, with a children's playground, swings... The night view is really beautiful, and it's also a pleasure to enjoy the breeze there at night.
Time: 9:00-19:00
Cost: 50 yuan/person in peak season, 30 yuan/person in off-peak season. Minors aged 6-18, full-time undergraduate students and below, and other specific groups enjoy half price, while children under 6 years old, disabled persons, active military personnel, and other specific groups are free.

Taiyuan Botanical Garden, Shanxi
The core part of the architectural complex is three greenhouses, which are three semi-circular domes made of wooden grilles, accurately embedded in the terrain. The construction of the greenhouse requires the integration of knowledge in related fields such as energy design, thermodynamics, structure, curtain wall, and installation logistics. The largest span among the three arches is 90 meters, which is one of the largest wooden grid structures in the world.
The entire park has three large indoor exhibition halls, namely the Tropical Rainforest Exhibition, the Tropical Desert Exhibition, and the Rare Flower Exhibition, all of which are very beautiful and photogenic! The indoor temperature of the exhibition hall is high and the humidity is high. If you stay inside for a long time, you will feel like a sauna. It is very comfortable to go in winter. It is recommended to wear a coat that is easy to put on and take off. Many children run around in short sleeves.
Transportation: You can park your car near the east gate of the botanical garden's No. 2 parking lot,
The nearest place to eat is the eco-restaurant.

Three-day tour of Taiyuan
For the National Day, I took a spontaneous trip. It was my first time in Taiyuan, and I didn't know much about it. I did some research beforehand and had a great time during the three-day trip. On the first day, I stayed near the Taiyuan night market, which was very bustling with lots of food, drinks, and entertainment. The next morning, I went to the botanical garden for two hours. I mainly came for the popular architectural landmarks. There wasn't much inside, just tropical plants, and it wasn't big. I felt like I could finish touring it in less than half an hour. After leaving the botanical garden, I went straight to the Jinci Museum, which was not far away. In the afternoon, I went to the Taiyuan Museum. I didn't make a reservation for the Shanxi Museum, so I went to the Taiyuan Museum instead. The area around the museum is the Fen River, and the night view is good. There is also a fountain square. Across the street is the Vientiane City for shopping. On the third day, I went to Taiyuan Ancient Town in the morning and Jinyang Lake in the afternoon. The park is very large, with shopping, food, drinks, and entertainment, similar to Taikoo Li. In the evening, I watched the Jinyang song and dance performance, which was quite impressive and worth visiting. This three-day trip ended, and I had a good impression of Taiyuan. I will have to come to Taiyuan again next time. Taiyuan is a good place.
