#Tang'an Dong Village Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Tang'an Dong Village | Get the closest terraced field sunset to Zhaoxing Dong Village
🌄 Departing from Zhaoxing, you can choose to take a hiking trail (about two to three hours), or take a shuttle bus (but you have to queue), if there are many people like us, you can ask the innkeeper to charter a car (same price and more flexible time), it takes about ten to twenty minutes to get there.
🌄 Tang'an Dong Village is not very big, built against the mountain with an open view, truly not overdeveloped, and slightly different from the style of Zhaoxing. There are also homestays and guesthouses in the village, and if you have time to stay for a few days, it would be a good choice to return to a pastoral life here.
🌄 If you only want to watch the sunset and don't have high demands for creating terraced fields, it is recommended to start after four o'clock. In this season, in these mountains, the actual time to see the sunset is around seven o'clock, and if you go too early, you will have nothing to do, truly enjoying the slow life. Also, you need to prepare a jacket, as short sleeves will be very cold.

The first village of Dongxiang, rated as a place on the edge of time, the viewing platform is like stepping into a haven from a martial arts world. It is well preserved and primitive. Locals live and market here, full of life. The Dong Village is divided into five major clans with five drum towers: benevolence, righteousness, courtesy, wisdom, and faith, and has been recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. Walking around different drum towers feels special. We mainly stayed around the Li and Ren drum towers. On weekends, you can hike to Tang'an, a village that combines Dong Village and terraced fields, a 7km most beautiful rural Dong Village hiking route, a free cultural attraction that rivals the Yuanyang Terraced Fields.

Guizhou|The quaint Zhaoxing Dong Village and Tang'an Dong Village
At the end of December, Guizhou is not crowded, not cold, and very suitable for travel. Zhaoxing Dong Village is a place recommended by National Geographic and Lonely Planet in China, and it is the largest natural village of the Dong nationality. There is a bustling main street inside, and both sides are residential areas. The people in the village are all surnamed Lu, centered on the drum tower and divided into five major families: benevolence, righteousness, courtesy, wisdom, and faith. It is said that the higher the drum tower, the more people there are. This group of drum towers has been included in the Guinness World Records. There is a brief welcome performance at the entrance of the village at 10 am and 4 pm every day. There are rice fields outside, and it looks beautiful from the viewing platform.
The village is not big, strolling around, from watching the locals make fire and cook in the morning, to watching them talk around the fire at night, passing the drum tower, stage, flower bridge, stilted building, watching the waterwheel irrigate the rice fields, the simple life is relaxing and calm. The food here is also surprisingly delicious. In addition to sour soup fish, there are also stir-fried bamboo shoots with firewood bacon, cold beef, beef soup, braised small potatoes, glutinous rice balls with meat, etc. are all delicious, super rice.
Take a minibus from Zhaoxing Dong Village and drive up the mountain for 20 minutes to Tang'an Dong Village. It is a very small village, but it is a well-preserved Dong ethnic ecological museum. Norwegian ecologist John Jestron fell in love with this place after visiting many villages and promoted the cooperation between China and Norway to build the only Dong ethnic ecological museum in the country. Old stone steps, ancient tombs, ancient ladle wells, open terraces, and many original ecological materials and intangible traditional cultures have been preserved, and the entire village is ancient and peaceful.
A secluded ancient village found in Guizhou, lost in the sea of clouds above the terraced fields!
Location: Tang'an Dong Village is located in Zhaoxing Township, Liping County, Guizhou Province. Due to its low profile, it still retains the original appearance of the Dong Village, a 'unadorned' Dong Village still in the boudoir. Compared with the famous Zhaoxing Dong Village, Tang'an is particularly quiet, but there are still many tourists coming to check in. One is that it is very close to Zhaoxing, and the other is that it is a traditional Dong Village, a Dong ethnic ecological museum.
👉Features: The Dong Village is located on the hillside. You can find drum towers, theater towers, stilted buildings, stone roads, ancient tombs, ancient ladle wells, water mills, stone mortars, spinning wheels, etc., quietly leaning in every corner of the Dong Village, embodying the profound Dong culture. Tang'an Dong Village is surrounded by mountains on three sides, and one side is the open terraced fields with a wide view.
📌Tang'an Dong Village is not far from Zhaoxing Dong Village. Tourists who go to Zhaoxing Dong Village will generally come to Tang'an Dong Village to stroll around, watch the secluded village in the sea of clouds and terraced fields, watch the sunrise and sunset, and feel the slow pace here.
