The main reason it works so well is simple: there is far less light pollution than I am used to, so the sky looks darker and the stars look brighter by comparison. The view was extraordinary. Jupiter was the highlight. It was immediately obvious to the naked eye, bright and steady, and it photographed clearly on my phone. I have attached the photos I took to this review. It is so amazing to me that you can see stars and planets so clearly in person, that it also comes out recognisably in an ordinary phone photo.
