#Tennoji Zoo Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Tennoji Zoo in Osaka
Tennoji Zoo is conviniently located right in the city which is relatively easy to get to from Tennoji Station. It’s not a huge zoo, but good enough for little children to spend the day at. Entrance tickets are affordable too at just 500 yen. My little one is 3 and she enjoyed the zoo very much. There are elephant push carts available for rent which were a hit with the children, though we adults were tired from pushing them all day! There are animals we don’t normally see like the polar bear, sea lions, eagle and various species of monkeys. There is a small food court and a nice little souvenir store. Overall a nice place to visit with little children especially in a huge city like Osaka. Come here if you have little ones!

No Sleeping Animals !
The Osaka Tennoji Zoo is one of the most interesting zoo I've ever visited ! The animals are all awake, almost none of them are sleeping ! I think I chose the right time to visit the zoo in the early morning.
There are some rare animals such as the Polar bear, Humboldt penguin and the Grey wolf. The zoo is divided into four zones where animals are separated into different categories.
Transportation is very convenient, take the train and alight at Dobutsuen-mae Metro Station, walk for about 5-8 minutes and there you see the zoo!
The entrance fee is cheap, 500yen for adults. It's the cheapest zoo I've ever visited.

Osaka zoo. lots of animals to see, including zebra, giraffe, polar bear, penguin, lion, tiger. rare to see a zoo located within the city centre. first time to go to osaka zoo and it was good. it wasn’t big but you are able to see so many different kinds of animals in one place. can go if you have enough time in Osaka. was lucky to have very nice weather throughout our stay in Osaka. #osaka #zoo
It is the best zoo I have seen so far. The entire park makes full use of the limited space, there are many kinds of animals, and it is especially humanized! It is the third-ranked zoo in Japan, occupying at least half of the area of Tennoji Park. There are about 200 species and more than 1,000 animals in the park. They are quiet in the space of their own life, but the expression reflects freedom... The most cute thing is the polar bear. It swims in the water, plays, and then sneaks for a long time, and then suddenly emerges from the water. Come, climb the shore and pull out countless drops of water.
Tennoji Zoo
With a vouchers, you can enter for free. The small zoo has been around for nearly a hundred years. The overall design feels like a few years. This time I look at the koalas. The results have been staying on the tree and I can't see clearly.
Consider the characteristics of children in the design of fun and exhibition areas. You can also learn some common sense about animals while you are enjoying a pleasant visit. Some small listings are quite interesting. Pay attention to feeding time while playing, and the interaction between animals and breeders is also very interesting.
Tennoji Zoo is an urban zoo that opened its third zoo in Japan.
Now, there are about 230 species of 930 animals in an 11-hectare park. The zoo reproduces the habitat environment as much as possible, and also introduces the animal display activities to introduce the animals that live here. In the same area, you can observe the elephants in the Asian rainforest, the giraffes such as giraffes/zebras living in the African savanna, and the carnivores such as lions/spotted hyenas, and become an immersive display. There is also a casino as a resting place, a facility for environmental education venues, and an oasis in the center of the city. It is very lively.
Affordable way see some animals

We visited the Tennoji zoo in Osaka and had a great time. We enjoyed seeing the different animals in their natural habitats, such as giraffes, elephants, rhinos, hippos, tigers, orangutans, and flamingos. The zoo also has a reptile house, a nocturnal animal house, and a penguin pool.
The only downside of the zoo is that half of it is under construction. The zoo is undergoing a major renovation to improve the facilities and create more spacious and comfortable environments for the animals. This means that some areas are closed off and some animals are not visible. We were disappointed that we could not see some of our favorite animals, such as monkeys, bears, and penguins. However, we understand that this is for the betterment of the zoo and the animals, and we look forward to visiting again when the construction is completed.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience at the Tennoji zoo. The zoo is a great place to learn about animals and their habitats, and to appreciate the diversity of life on Earth. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the admission fee is reasonable. We highly recommend the Tennoji zoo to anyone who loves animals and nature.

Love going to the Zoo
This was my second time visiting Osaka Tennoji Zoo. I arrived as early as the Zoo opened and spent the whole morning there. The entrance fee is just 500yen per adult, definitely worth visiting.
The Zoo is located just a few minutes walk from Dobutsuen-mae Station. If you take JR alight at Tennoji Station.
Right now some areas in the Zoo are under renovation (the yellow area in the map), some animals are not available. The tiger is not there anymore, the tiger just passed away recently. Because the forest area is under renovation, I didn't get to visit the elephant either.

As it was going to Tongtian Pavilion, the Tianwang Temple Zoo was in front of the Tongtian Pavilion, so I went by.
The zoo is said to have about 200 species of 900 animals. But I actually went, I don't think so much, and I think this zoo is a little mini. If you go by, you can still go there. There is no need to go straight here. However, the sanitation in the park is still very good, very clean, the air is also very good, and there is no strong animal smell. Leaning on the bench, enjoying the scenery is a good choice
Japanese vending machines are really developed, there are all the streets and alleys, I think the automatic sale of ice cream is also very good. The service in Japan is really 24 hours a day.
I don't know why the male toilet is represented by a lion, while the female toilet is represented by a wolf.
