🌸The Way of Philosophy: A Spring Walk in the Foothills of Kyoto🌸
#sakura2024
🚶♂️ Stroll along the 📍philosophical path and explore the breath of spring at the foothills of Kyoto’s Higashiyama Mountains. This road starts from Wakaji Shrine, passes through 📍Honen-in Temple, and ends at 📍Ginkakuji Temple. There are more than 500 cherry blossom trees along the way, planted by the painter Mrs. Sekiyuki Hashimoto, and they are called "Sekiyuki Sakura". They bloom on both sides of the road, forming a beautiful tunnel of cherry blossoms, with petals falling on the water, creating a unique scene. Along the way, you can see many grocery and coffee shops, especially the section near Ginkakuji Temple, where business is booming. And walking further, approaching 📍Kumano Wakaji Shrine, the vegetation is denser, the atmosphere is slightly cooler, and the small shops on the roadside sell all kinds of interesting items.
🌅 Get up early and take a walk on the philosophical path, which is quiet and beautiful. The city has not yet woken up, and the streets and alleys show layers of folded tranquility. With the pace, new scenery constantly appears. Wildflowers are blooming on the roadside, monks are tending gardens, joggers are walking along the river, shopkeepers are preparing to open their doors, and even cats suddenly wander out of the intersection... until the hustle and bustle of city life begins to rise, and the beginning of the day becomes more lively.
🏞️ The Philosophical Path at the foot of Higashiyama Mountain in Kyoto is an intoxicating walking path. It was selected into "Japan's Top 100 Roads" as early as 1987 and is known for its combination of humanistic and natural beauty. The whole journey is about 1.8km and is built along the water of Lake Biwa. This was once the place where Kyoto School philosopher Nishida Kitaro and others thought, hence the name "Philosophical Way". Regardless of spring, summer, autumn or winter, you can experience different natural scenery. In spring, the Guanxuezakura blooms on the roadside, forming a tunnel of pink flowers; in autumn, the red maples fall, making it gorgeous and charming.
📍Yongguantang is one of the maple viewing spots, attracting many tourists to come and take photos. In addition, on hot summer days, you can see fireflies at Philosopher's Walk and enjoy the coolness brought by the clear waterways and lush vegetation. No matter when you come, you can feel the charm of nature.
