5 Things to Know Before Going to Beijing
5 Things to Know Before Going to Beijing
I look forward to winter in Beijing the most, walking through the hutongs with a smoky aroma, eating candied haws and watching people come and go in the hutongs.
1️⃣Transportation tips: Direct flight from Shanghai to Beijing, 300 yuan. Beijing has Beijing Capital Airport and Daxing Airport. The Capital Airport is closer to the city, recommended. You can reach the city area by 3 subway stations.
2️⃣Accommodation tips: I like Xicheng District, which has a very old Beijing feel. There are many quadrangles here. I live in a hutong on Yan Dai Xie Street, the feeling of an old courtyard, and I can chat with the old men when I go out in the morning. 250 yuan per night.
3️⃣Tour tips: Tiananmen, Forbidden City, Jingshan Park, Yan Dai Xie Street, Nanluoguxiang, Bird's Nest, Water Cube, Badaling Great Wall.
This route is very suitable for friends who are visiting Beijing for the first time. Tiananmen and the Forbidden City are together, and you need to queue up to enter. The Forbidden City ticket is 40 yuan.
Jingshan Park is a hillside park overlooking the panoramic view of the Forbidden City, with a good view, recommended. The ticket is 2 yuan.
Yan Dai Xie Street and Nanluoguxiang are both centuries-old historical districts. Many famous hutongs are here, where celebrities gather and there are many snacks and delicacies.
The Bird's Nest and Water Cube, take subway line 8, get off at the Olympic Sports Center, the ticket is 78 yuan.
The Badaling Great Wall, the ticket starts at 35 yuan, the Great Wall is in the suburbs, and it takes a day to visit.
4️⃣Food tips:
Recommend Baozang Roast Duck Restaurant, Liu's Restaurant, it's crispy and can be dipped in white sugar. About 200 yuan for one, and there are many Beijing special dishes.
Qixun Baizhao Hutong Cuisine, Beijing cuisine in the old hutong, retro style, recommended almond tofu. Average 100 yuan per person.
Huguo Temple Snacks, a must-visit halal snack shop in Beijing, with baked buns, pea yellow, donkey rolls, etc. Average 20 yuan per person.
5️⃣S2 train tips: The S2 train is a beautiful sightseeing train route, and it is also the most cost-effective transportation from the city to the Great Wall. The starting station is Huangtudian Station to Yanqing Station, passing through Nankou Station and Badaling Station. The round trip to the Great Wall is 14 yuan.
A snowfall in the Forbidden City, dreaming back to the Purple Forbidden City, I am looking forward not to the snow of the Forbidden City, but to your today
Dear friends! The Forbidden City in Beijing is particularly beautiful in the early snow season, like a snow-colored scroll, not only the brilliance of history, but also the legend in the snow. Let's have a romantic experience blended with history together! Come with me to the Forbidden City and feel the unique charm of the snow! 1、Snow timetable
The first snow date in Beijing is usually at the end of November to early December, but please pay attention to the weather forecast at any time.
On December 11, 2023, Beijing was covered with snow, and it snowed very seriously.
2、Best way to enter
Take the subway to Tiananmen East or Tiananmen West Station, and then enter the Forbidden City from the Temple of Heaven or Zhongshan Park to avoid congestion in the Tiananmen area.
3、Time planning
The opening hours of the Forbidden City are 08:30-16:30, try to go in the morning, because the snow melts easily during the day.
4、Itinerary suggestion
The best place to view the snow scene in the Forbidden City is near the central axis. You can choose to start from Donghuamen or Shenwumen, go to Jingshan Park, and overlook the snow scene of the Forbidden City.
5、Warm reminder
Bring touch screen gloves and a thermos cup
Shooting skills
The inner courtyard of the deep palace or the panoramic view of the Forbidden City overlooking from Jingshan Park. Use the snow scene to create exquisite photos.
6、No ticket alternative
If you have not purchased a ticket to the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, the Corner Tower or Jingshan Park are good alternatives. You can also enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Forbidden City. Red walls, yellow tiles, and snow all over the sky
The entire Forbidden City is covered in silver, slowly listening to the sound of the snow falling. This is the highest level of romance in winter.
People today do not see the moon of ancient times, the moon today once shone on ancient people
Hurry up and make an appointment with your friends to go to the palace to enjoy the snow!

Forbidden City Portrait|Step by Step Shocking Liu Shishi Ruoxi Same Style Qing Palace Photo
In 2011, the nationwide hit Step by Step Shocking💥 made me always like Liu Shishi's portrayal of Maertai Ruoxi💕. Her appearance is very temperamental. In the early stage, she was a quirky and hardworking thirteen sister. In the later stage, she was a deep palace empress who was depressed in her heart (although she was not formally canonized). It is really a fine costume drama.
The fourth master is restrained and affectionate, the eighth master is gentle and jade-like. I am not a fan of the fourth master or the eighth master, my favorite in my heart is Lin Gengxin's portrayal of the fourteenth master. I will always remember that he brought her favorite hibiscus cakes🌺 to Ruoxi who was kneeling in the rain☔️. Classic famous scenes haha.
Taking a set of portraits in the Forbidden City is still very meaningful. When I look at these photos many years later, I will remember that when I was young, I was Ruoxi in the Forbidden City for a morning😘
Who can explain the phenomenon of the corner tower of the Forbidden City in Beijing
The Forbidden City, the corner tower, the river, the wild geese, Beijing here is simply the earthly beauty of the blue sky and yellow leaves 😝 The beauty of the combination of rigidity and softness in Eastern ancient architecture is even more prominent under the blue sky and white clouds ☁️, showing the ancient majesty. The classic photo 📷 spot is at the northwest corner outside the Forbidden City, no need to go into the Forbidden City Museum 😯 Just outside the moat of the Forbidden City, you can directly locate 📍 to the Shenwu Gate of the Forbidden City, which is the north gate of the Forbidden City, turn right ➡️ about 100 meters, when you get there you actually don't need to look for it, the place where the cameras 📹 are piled up is right 🤪

The atmosphere of late autumn is intoxicating🔥. There are also some persimmon trees in the courtyard, adding poetry. ✅ Cining Palace Garden: There are two hundred-year-old ginkgo trees here, which can be called the king of ginkgo trees in the Forbidden City🔥. ✅ Wuying Hall: The eighteen locust trees on the east side of the main hall are the Forbidden City's version of Ginkgo Avenue🔥. The Palace Museum 🍁✨
The palace is so big. I was so impressed how people in the past could create this amazing works. Not to mention about the king, people who made such afford to support their respect, trust and love were so respectful. The palaces in the front seemed to be more beautiful from renovation while the latter are relatively aged. 👣
The main historical site in Beijing the former imperial palace is a large site so expect walk a lot, most of the sites are outside so weather is a factor to consider. A huge surface area, covered with buildings erected in a very particular and in the same time, traditional manner, extraordinary details and brilliant executed at their time. 👀
Tickets in advance and reservations are a must for your visit, pay attention to this detail a couple of days before. This historic place is unique, huge and beautiful. If you are in China, it’s strongly recommended. 👍🏻❤️

Traveling Tips for The Palace Museum
Step back in time and immerse yourself in the grandeur of Chinese history at The Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City, in Beijing! This majestic complex, situated in the heart of the city, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a treasure trove of imperial architecture and cultural artifacts.
The Palace Museum is enormous, covering an area of 72 hectares. It houses a vast collection of over 1.8 million artifacts, including imperial treasures, ancient artworks, and cultural relics spanning thousands of years. From delicate porcelain and ancient calligraphy to stunning paintings and royal costumes, each exhibit tells a story of China's rich heritage. So if you want to have a thorough trip, you may need to spend one or two days here.
Tips: 1️⃣ Wear comfortable shoes, as the palace complex is expansive and requires a fair amount of walking. 2️⃣ Consider hiring a knowledgeable guide or audio guide to gain deeper insights into the history and significance of the various buildings and exhibits. 3️⃣ Visit during weekdays or non-peak hours to avoid crowds and have a more immersive experience.
The Forbidden Palace is UNforbidden to You
One of the most noteworthy visits to make in China, is to enter The Forbidden City. Walk where Emperors once roamed thousands of years ago and be amazed at the architecture within the city.
I’ve always wanted to see the city once I realized it was the inspiration behind the city of Ba Sing Se in my fave cartoon. When touring the vast grounds, ensure you wear comfortable shoes, bring your sunglasses 🕶️ and have sunscreen lathered on. There are vending machines around to get beverages and you can pop in the gift shop to get mementos from your visit there.
One of the buildings in the forbidden city I was told, was built just by sticking the logs together like legos. It sure is surprising how it has managed to stand tall all these years-simply amazing but don’t just take my word for it, see for yourselves.

Details at the Forbidden Palace
#urbanexplorer #tripblazers #beijing
You can easily spend a whole day at the Palace Museum, once called the Forbidden city. This expansive complex was the home to various emperors of China, some of whom never went beyond its walls.
We found that it was easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer size of the site, wanting to see everything we could even on a cold and drizzly day. What was most rewarding however was slowing down and looking at the details. The symmetry in the painting and beams, the artistry in even the door hinges. All these details hint at the opulence that once was.

Beijing - The Palace Museum
The Palace Museum is a breathtaking attraction that I would certainly recommend taking the time to see. I took a taxi from downtown Beijing but it’s also possible to get the metro. I would recommend going as early as possible! I travelled in the Chinese New Year holiday and didn’t arrived until lunchtime and it was very busy. The security queue took about an hour and then there were several more queues to check tickets before being admitted. Due to the sheer size of the palace, the crowds weren’t too disruptive once entered.
You cannot get tickets on the day. You have to prebook them. I booked a week in advance using the mini programme on Wechat but I’m sure there are tour places available to help people book without using Wechat. I would recommend booking as early as possible if you are visiting on the weekend or a National holiday.
It’s easy to spend the entire afternoon/morning here. It’s a labyrinth of beautiful temples and museums. There are small restaurants and gift shops on site. It’s also easy to visit Tianmen Square and Jingshan park as they are opposite (opposing ends) the attraction.

The Forbidden City
What a wonderful experience! It was quite breathtaking to see such an iconic place. It was too much for one day and we will have to go again.
What you should know:
1) You have to book tickets a few days in advance. Scan the QR code with WeChat and use a translator. It’s fairly easy. You can buy morning or afternoon tickets. Just search on the internet how to buy tickets for the forbidden city and some of those websites will have the qr code for you to scan. When you enter your passport will be scanned to check your ticket.
2) It’s one directional. One entrance, and one exit.
3) It’s quite a long “barricaded” walk to the entrance. So don’t try to go all the way to the entrance on a bike. As soon as you see the blocked off area on the pavement start, that’s where you get off and start walking. There will be multiple passport and bag checks.
4) Go as early as possible. You only have half a day and the place is huge!
5) There are some really lovely souvenirs to buy. So take back pack so that you don’t have to carry these things all the way.
6) Take some snacks etc. There is a “cafe” towards the middle, but it doesn’t have much.
Hope this helps! Have fun and take in the rich history that is The Forbidden City!
The Forbidden City, home of the Emperors
The most iconic cultural heritage of China... the Forbidden City, home of the Emperors!
The Forbidden City was constructed from 1406 to 1420, and was the former Chinese imperial palace and winter residence of the Emperor of China from the Ming dynasty to the end of the Qing dynasty, between 1420 and 1924. It served as the home of Chinese emperors and their households and was the ceremonial and political center of the Chinese government for over 500 years.
The complex consists of 980 buildings, encompassing 8,886 rooms and covering 720,000 m2. It is listed by UNESCO as the largest collection of preserved ancient wooden structures in the world!
This palace is so vast that is impossible to visit all of it at once... this is the 3rd time I have been there, and still haven't finished to see all the beautiful and interesting things that you can admire between these walls!
So glad I got to visit without too many people around this time. Despite the cold temperatures, visiting this majestic place is always such a pleasure!

The Forbidden City in Beijing 🇨🇳
The forbidden city is located in the northern Chinese city of Beijing it is also called the palace museum. It is frequently flooded with tourists every year and for good reason. Once you visit this touristic landmark you will feel a sense of greatness and royalty in these grounds that you are surrounded by something that was powerful.
Often young locals will come here in costumes resembling historic Chinese emperors and members of the higher extravagant classes to take pictures.
The forbidden city is walkable but make sure you wear comfortable clothes and shoes for such an endeavor.
Easily recommended and a 10 out of 10.

The Forbidden City 🇨🇳 Beijing
Its massive!!!
A must see when in Beijing..
In the centre of Beijing it's hard to miss the giant walls surrounding the forbidden city.
no
To get inside you'll need to pre-book a ticket and you'll need your passport. Once you are past security you'll enter into a giant labyrinth of houses, courtyards and temples. We wandered, read the signs and just tried to take it all in.
I'd recommend going as early as you can, as the longer the day went on the busier the attraction became. In the summer it was seriously hot in the open grey courtyards.
A cool touristy spot that's very easy to get to by foot, taxi or public transport.

The Forbidden City, Beijing
I’d encourage two trips to the Forbidden City, one to walk around inside which can be an all day trip and one to visit the front. The people watching alone is worth a trip but the view itself is is lovely, enjoy the soldiers marching around and their incredible perfection. Getting in is quite difficult but if you go in through the gardens then it’s an additional adventure (also totally worth the trip it’s lovely) and you can skip the crowds to get in, but you will have to go through security. When you are ready to leave you will have to walk a little to catch a Didi or the train station is just across the road, not too far.
The Palace - Forbidden City - Beijing
The Palace Museum - the Forbidden City location right in the heart of Beijing.
The palace was opened its doors to public after the very last Emperor of China was evicted in 1925.
Constructed from 1406 to 1420, the museum consists of 980 buildings - once again 980 buildings 😄 so be ready to walk a lot if you are planning to visit the museum. 😁 You will need not less then 3h.
Amazing structures, acres, bridges, and hell a lot of history. Truly stunning. Worth every penny.
If you are in Beijing this is absolutely a must see!
if you’ll go all the way through the grounds of the palace then, there is the Jingshan park just across the street. Once you climb the hill you’ll have a great view of the forbidden city 😍

The Forbidden City, Beijing
It took me a long time to finally get here, it’s a bit intimidating. There was a lot of security but it wasn’t too terrible. Once in it was absolutely worth it. It’s huge, I wish I had went through slower but it was a crazy hot day. The city it’s self is awesome I took plenty of photos but I really enjoyed all the wedding photos being taken there. Much like ‘The Bund’ in Shanghai every where you looked there were couples in all types of formal clothing taking photos. I was originally felt shy taking pictures of them but after about an hour of everyone taking photos of me I didn’t feel too weird about it. Wear good shoes though, it’s can be an all day event if you make it one.

THE FORBIDDEN CITY
China's largest and most important building, the Forbidden City (Zǐjìnchéng) - also known as the Imperial Palace - is situated in the very heart of Beijing and is a must-see when visiting the country. Started during the Yuan Dynasty between 1271-1368, much of the complex seen today was built between 1406 and 1420. Really many splendid palaces in one, this sprawlinng complex was the residence of 24 Ming and Qing Emperors, whose presence forbade the entry of anyone other than the imperial family and their courtesans.
Covering some 720,000 square meters and protected by a 10-meter-high wall with watchtowers and a wide moat, this massive complex consists of areas set aside for ceremonial and administrative purposes, as well as a private residence used by the emperor. While it can take many hours to see everything, highlights include the five white marble Golden River Bridges; the Hall of Supreme Harmony, a 35-meter-tall building housing the imperial throne; and the exquisite emperor's banquet hall (the Hall of Preserving Harmony); and the Palace Museum with its large collection of art and artifacts from the Ming and Qing dynasties (English language museum tours are available).
Other important attractions in the vicinity of the Imperial Palace include famous Tiananmen Square, and the Temple of Heaven, one of the country's most important religious sites, which dates back to the 15th century.
