Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung
It was almost raining in Kaohsiung, but during a break in the rain, I took a YouBike to the Pier-2 Art Center at night. There were very few people around.
The lighting was somewhat dim, but it was beautiful.
Inside the warehouses, there were people working.
The first horizontal swing bridge in Taiwan, which is the longest swing bridge over a harbor in Asia, completes its rotation within 3 minutes.
There is an opening and closing show every day at 3 PM, and an additional one at 7 PM on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Without knowing this, I visited and was able to see the opening and closing show by chance.

Kaohsiung Pier 2 Art Centre 📸
#exploreasia
Pier 2 Art Centre is located at Pier 2 of Kaohsiung Port. During the Japanese colonial period, it was a warehouse for storing sugar and transporting exports but afterwards, it was damaged by U.S. bombings. After the reconstruction in 1962, it then played an important role in converting railways to sea transportation as well as a transportation hub for the development of salt industry. .
Until 2018, various Taiwanese creative brands, local catering and delicacies have been brought into the area to successfully revitalise the old warehouse and create a waterfront space that allows a lot of youth spend time in!!
Tips: Visit during evening time it is more lively.

Beyond imagination , what to do in Taiwan - pier 2 Art Khaoshiung
The space for art to be shown to the world. The place fits for the big pieces of arts where no other place can. I would recommend the visitor to rise a bike and ride around this place. Very easy to access by public transport from the city center of Kaohsiung Taiwan.
Great place to let the children run wild, release their imaginations who knows the next piece of art show in this pier could be theirs.🛤️

The Pier-2 Art Centre in Kaohsiung-Taiwan
The Pier-2 Art Centre is a ‘must visit place’ to go in Kaohsiung Taiwan if you wanna see a unique open art space. It was an abandoned warehouse that later has already became Kaohsiung’s most popular cultural spot when a group of artist imparted their art creativity into this area.
Located in the basin no.3 of Kaohsiung Port, the space offers unique buildings and statues that you can explore for around two to three hours. You can also stop by to buy affordable souvenir from the souvenir shop and enjoy Taiwanese foods from the restaurant in this area.

The 2nd Art Zone is located on the banks of the Aihe River in Kaohsiung City, adjacent to Kaohsiung Port. Rejection 2 refers to the No. 2 docking station, which was originally a port warehouse. The reconstructed 2nd Art Zone has a post-modern style with artist studio, visual, performing arts space and dining facilities, and retains the original The warehouse's mottled iron gates and exposed cement walls.
Ranji is a distinctive art space, and it is also a place for people to relax. You can find amazing works of art, reflecting the blue sky and the sun. Excellent scene for taking pictures.
There is no wall here, there is no gate, two cute big dolls "reject the two biggest coffees", it means that the second art district has been reached. There is also a MRT in the open park. And bus stop.
personal experience, really endless aftertaste. Here is a very special place, not just the scenery, including railway culture, sculpture culture, wall culture, every corner can be revealed A breath of art.

The 2nd Art Zone is located at the end of the southern end of Dayong Road, Yancheng District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. Ban 2 refers to the No. 2 docking station, located in the third ship channel of Kaohsiung Port. It was built on June 12, 1973 and was originally a general port warehouse. In 2000, the Kaohsiung City Government accidentally discovered this experimental field in search of the National Day fireworks display site.
Its very good to fly a kite here. Imagine that many people in Guangzhou dont know what its like to fly a kite. There is no such open space for children to play, unless you go to a special place, feel like taking a child to fly a kite. Parents must be particularly affectionate.
In 2000, the Kaohsiung City Government accidentally discovered this experimental field in search of the National Day fireworks display site. However, due to years of disrepair, the stationed units carried out various construction projects for the state of the old buildings, which was completed on March 24, 2002. Under the impetus of artists and local cultural workers, combined with the project resources of the ICSC's idle space reuse, the second art district will be the representative works created by the Kaohsiung community. After the Kaohsiung Association of Art Development and the Shude University of Science and Technology to develop local art workshops, the Second Art Zone became the experimental creation site in southern Taiwan.

Kaohsiung Itinerary: Pier-2 Art Center, Cijin Island, Kaohsiung Lighthouse, perfect for afternoon and evening.
Kaohsiung, a coastal city brimming with artistic vibes, always touches the hearts of travelers in its unique way.
In the early morning, as the first rays of sunlight hit Dayong Road in the Yancheng District, our journey quietly begins at the Pier-2 Art Center. Take the Orange Line MRT to Yanchengpu Station, and after a few minutes' walk along Dayong Road, you will encounter this art palace transformed from a port warehouse. Stepping into Pier-2 feels like traveling through a time tunnel; the mottled tracks, rusty warehouse iron doors, and broken concrete walls all tell stories of the past. Here, art is no longer distant; it quietly flows in every corner, waiting to have a soulful conversation with you. In the Labor Museum, the simulated labor work scenes make you feel the indomitable spirit while lamenting the vicissitudes of history.
In the afternoon, we take a boat to Cijin Island. The short ten-minute voyage, with the sea breeze gently blowing, takes away all worries. Cijin Island, a natural breakwater, welcomes every visitor with its unique coastal scenery and rich historical and cultural heritage. Riding along the old street, flanked by various seafood shops, ice cream parlors, and art shops, each exudes its unique charm. Tianhou Temple, Cijin Lighthouse, Cihou Fort... these historical sites witness the century-old changes of Cijin Island and allow us to feel the strong cultural atmosphere during our visit.
In the evening, we arrive at the Kaohsiung Lighthouse. Located at the northern tip of Cijin Mountain, this square lighthouse looks particularly charming against the sunset. Climbing to the observation deck at the top of the lighthouse, you can take in the beautiful scenery of Cijin Port, Shoushan, and Xiziwan. At that moment, all the fatigue seems to drift away with the sea breeze.

Kaohsiung Trip - Pier-2 Art Center
⛱️ Must-visit spot: Pier-2 Art Center (so beautiful!!)
🍜 Food Guide: You can check in at SunnyHills and taste free tea and pineapple cakes (swept three big boxes back home after tasting)
🚄 Transportation Guide: Since I stayed in Qianjin District, I took the orange line to Hamasen Station, then transferred to the light rail and got off at Pier-2 Penglai District.
💗 Other tips: June is very hot, it is recommended that if you only go to Pier-2 and not to Cijin, you can start out at about 3 or 4 in the afternoon. There are three areas in total, just stroll inside from the Penglai District.

Visiting Kaohsiung, of course, you must go to the Pier-2 Art Center to take pictures! This place is highly recommended by Mayday as a check-in spot~
📍Detailed address: No. 1, Dayong Road, Yancheng District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan 803

🕙Opening hours: 10:00-18:00 (Monday to Thursday), 10:00-20:00 (Friday to Sunday)
💰Ticket price: Public areas🆓, some special exhibitions may charge an admission fee
🌟Highlights: The Pier-2 Art Center refers to the second pier, which has been transformed into a well-known art district in Kaohsiung due to its disrepair over the years. It is equivalent to Shanghai's M50 Creative Park and Beijing's 798 Art Zone.
When you arrive here, the first thing that catches your eye is the graffiti on the walls. What's different is that the graffiti here is all drawn from real life, such as scenes of women workers laboring diligently in the 1980s, which is quite down-to-earth.
At the same time, there are various interesting museums, such as the only labor museum in Taiwan. Various exhibitions are also held here, and artistic youths can spend a whole day browsing!
📌Little Tips about Pier-2:
✅At the Pier-2 Art Center, you can see many different sculptures. Can you guess which one is Kaohsiung's mascot 'Kaohsiung Bear'?
✅Mayday's promotional video featured the Pier-2 Art Center, and the giant Bumblebee robot that appeared in their concerts is located here.
✅The place has attracted many international film production companies and is also known as the Hollywood of Asia.
✅The railway park has been transformed into the Steel Sculpture Park, full of nostalgia, turning rusty railways into works of art, which is awesome.
✅On weekends, the Moonlight Theater hosts performances by pop singers and independent bands, and listening to live music for free is just too cool!

Kaohsiung, the third-largest city in Taiwan, is a place where art meets the ocean. The city has turned old warehouses by the sea into amazing places to show art. They have also made the area look better with art, making it all fit together nicely.

Kaohsiung's Artistic Vibes
Kaohsiung, Taiwan's third-largest city, seamlessly merges artistic expression with its coastal charm. Repurposing old warehouses into captivating art galleries showcases the city's commitment to cultural rejuvenation. Moreover, the integration of art into the urban landscape enhances the overall aesthetic appeal, creating a harmonious fusion of creativity and natural beauty along the waterfront.
Excited to experience the artistic creativities that are hidden within Hong Kong, be it Tai Kwun or Tsuen Wan's The Mills!

The Hungry Feet
The Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung.
Let me introduce you to the Pier-2 Art District in Kaohsiung, which is located at the site of the old coastal railway line of Taiwan Railways. It used to be a warehouse for storing goods. After the government abolished the coastal line at the end of the last century, it was abandoned for decades. Thanks to conservation efforts, it has been preserved and transformed into the trendiest place in Taiwan. The old warehouses have now become shops and restaurants, where you can fully experience the Taiwanese vibe. I highly recommend the Eslite bookstore at Pier-2; it's a great place to visit and very special!

Kaohsiung, the first city to stay in Taiwan. Because I was going to Wuhu to transfer here, I stayed for more than one night. The 33rd sunny day of the barge two, and the bear children sit on the mini train. Refuting the top of the second tower, Kaohsiung Port is on the left, the wind blows the hair, and the hot sun becomes lovely.
What is Kaohsiung left for me. Everyone has a special Eslite, summer blaze, the wind of the port, the Lehong record store that has not yet had time to walk in, will it be the ubiquitous Mayday.
You will come, you will understand
Little_Round_Circle.
The two art districts, similar to Beijing's 798, include railway culture, sculpture culture, and wall culture. Every corner can reveal the atmosphere of art. Every small store has its own characteristics. The entire second block is still very large. Divided into several districts.
The art district will hold different themed exhibitions from time to time, and there will be concerts of independent musicians every weekend. For the young artists, listening to a concert in a huge warehouse is the most special in Kaohsiung. Experience, but remember to buy tickets in advance.
KRISTINA.
The second art special zone was formerly a port warehouse and later transformed into an art exhibition area. There are many works of art that can be seen here, as if everything is there and it is reasonable.
is my feelings about the big here. There are many exhibitions in the SAR, as well as various sculptures. The abandoned factory still retains the former feeling, but it is surrounded by various brains. Open art products are full of. Take a slow look and maybe you can find the inspiration you want.
The small train in the art district became a new darling. I bought a ticket and got on the train, but I didn't expect it to be sitting on the top of the train. At the corner of each small train, there will be staff to say hello to you and there will be traffic lights.
In the park, there is a steampunk exhibition. You can buy a small train ticket and you can visit it together. The theme is what I imagined 200 years ago.
