[2024 Singapore Stay] Travel Guide for The Vagabond Club A Tribute Portfolio Hotel Singapore (Updated Sep)
Just got back from Singapore~ Sharing my experience! For convenient travel, you definitely want to stay at these three distinctive luxury hotels
Singapore, as one of the safest countries in the world, is a perfect choice whether you're traveling with family, on a romantic getaway, or solo. It's a globally renowned garden city~ The streets are lined with lush green trees, and the roads are clean and tidy with hardly any litter. Walking around the city lifts your spirits~ And Singapore is really great for taking kids out! Just Changi Airport alone hides 4 children's playgrounds, as well as a 24-hour free cinema, giant slides, exploration mazes, the Sky Net... Not to mention Universal Studios, the Wildlife Reserves, Gardens by the Bay, Sentosa Island... Both adults and children can have a blast, and now with visa-free travel, it's even more convenient! I just came back from Singapore last month~ Here are three hotels that are very convenient for getting around.
👍 Highly recommended:
The Andaz Singapore Hotel is situated in the concave towers of DUO with hexagonal mesh windows, offering a very convenient location~ The hotel rooms reflect the local culture and the unique artistic flair of the brand, with a simple and cozy style that doesn't rely on flashy colors to impress. The room design is also very straightforward, inspired by Indian and Malaysian cultures, using consistent wood materials to enhance the warmth of the rooms~ Warm tones are also used in small parts of the soft furnishings, creating a youthful and energetic vibe that fits the city's character. The rooftop bar, Mr Stork, on the 39th floor is designed like a tropical garden, with abundant greenery and pebble-strewn floors that give guests a sense of the exuberant tropics.
👍 Highly recommended:
The Raffles Hotel Singapore, a choice of excellence The exterior of The Raffles Hotel Singapore may look unassuming, but the interior is full of charm~ and the hotel is also conveniently located. With art as its DNA, The Raffles Hotel is housed in a traditional Art Deco building from the 1950s, designed by the world-renowned French designer Jacques Garcia. The designer has incredibly blended Moorish North African, noble Rajasthani, and late 19th-century Parisian styles into the design of this hotel, creating a breathtaking and stylish atmosphere! As the heart of the hotel, The Raffles Salon perfectly embodies the modern French salon trend. Here, you can savor specially crafted cocktails, watch an independent film, enjoy live performances by talented musicians, or engage in conversations with artists. The Raffles Hotel is definitely a must-visit for art lovers.
👍 Highly recommended:
The Sofitel Singapore City Centre Hotel is located in the heart of the city~ Chinatown, with very convenient transportation: situated above the Tanjong Pagar MRT station, it offers a panoramic view of the city. It's very convenient to get to attractions like Universal Studios, Sentosa Beach, and the Merlion Park~ The hotel's interior design is simple yet modern, with colorful plant patterns on cushions, carpets, and paintings that brighten the mood~ Each room is equipped with floor-to-ceiling windows offering excellent views, allowing you to overlook the bustling Chinatown from your room. My favorite part of the hotel is the infinity pool, a full 30 meters long~ Surrounded by lush greenery and towering buildings, it instantly fills you with the feeling of a vacation in the city!

The Vagabond Club
On our trip to Singapore, we stayed three nights at The Vagabond Club, which is a Marriott Bonvoy property. The hotel is within walking distance to Arab Street and the green and blue MRT lines. The hotel is in an historic heritage building, so the rooms are unique - small but with smartly-designed hidden storage, and the decor and artwork throughout the dimly-lit building is quirky and gives off a Parisian noir feeling. We loved staying here because it was definitely special, and the staff were extremely helpful and nice.

Beautiful Lobby Bar at Vagabond Club
Address - 39 Syed Alwi Rd, Singapore 207630
Ambiance/Facilities - cozy, hip
Highlights - whisky collection
Avg. Price per Person - S$25-50
Rating - 4 stars
A great lobby bar will enhance the stay experience at any hotel. The Vagabond Club is a hotel under the Marriott umbrella (part of the Tribute Portfolio hotel). Located Jalan Besar area, this hotel is not your typical tourist hotel. it was converted from a few shophouses. Downstairs is the hotel lobby and the bar. The design is seamless from the lobby to the bar area. With the tropical theme and great use of metallic gold color, the bar looks exquisite and hip. it has an extensive whisky collection while beers are also available.

Junior Suite @ Vagabond
Address - 39 Syed Alwi Rd, Singapore 207630
Ambiance/Facilities - dimsum place, boutique hotel, antique room, pictures and arts gallery
Highlights - intimate staycation is much needed especially during your honeymoon period. my partner chose Vagabond hotel because it has limited rooms available and knowing that I love art, this hotel is good choice. There is also Swee Choon dimsum nearby where it open in the late afternoon until early morning, so if we suddenly feel hungry, we can head over there. This boutique hotel provide chilling vibe, so artsy and bed is not bad, but the pillow is super soft even stacking few pillows won't be enough. However, the main point is spending quality time and I was already too tired so knock off early regardless of the pillow quality. Thankfully we got upgraded to junior suite, quite spacious with partition that make it feel like classy chinese room.
Avg. Price per Person - $200
Rating - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Will come back again if they have special promotion, otherwise I rather go to better place with bathtub, good bed & pillow, and great view that cost around same price. Worth to try if you are artsy person and have spare $ to spend on 😌

Vagabond Club Tribute Portfolio
Checking off my first Tribute Portfolio experience at this red-gold lavished property! Got upgraded to a Junior Suite as part of my Plat benefits and nice service overall but I’m not sure if I loved the theme of the space. The liberal use of wood and velvet within the shophouse design is quirky but at the same time seemed to age the property more than I prefer, especially when wear & tear is visible. Very chill evening cocktail session though and excellent nasi lemak kosong the next morning. Nonetheless a decent enough stay timed to snag a Free Night Award under one of the Bonvoy targeted promotion!

From outside the hotel looks pretty heritage, once u are inside everything changed. The palette looks gorgeous, keeping the industrial chic style. The service was great, explained the checking in clearly and smoothly. The room was spacious, sparkling clean, maintaining the old heritage in place.

Those years of staying at the Marriotts in Singapore during anniversaries~
For the profound love, I always choose Marriott hotels when staying at hotels, and it's no exception in Singapore. It just so happened to coincide with something worth celebrating, so I talked with the hotel front desk in advance through the App to discuss a room upgrade—overall, the staff at each hotel paid great attention to the member experience and provided a certain level of celebration 'assistance'. Highly praised♾ endlessly.
This time, I stayed at a total of 4 hotels, which are St.Regis, the vagabond club, and two others. Let's talk about them one by one.
1. Singapore (St.Regis, pictures 2/3)
➡️Care method: Free upgrade to an executive suite, complimentary hotel chocolates🍫 (seems to be a welcome gift)
➡️Location: The hotel is less than a 10-minute walk from Orchard Road, shopping is too convenient, it's a pity that there was no time for shopping this time.
➡️Hotel service: The front desk was very enthusiastic, the butler service was particularly excellent, and the hot chocolate was too good to drink.
👇
2. The Vagabond Club, a luxury design hotel (pictures 4/5)
➡️Care method: Welcome card, the front desk said they would provide a celebration cake, but it didn't happen... Originally planned to stay for 4 nights, checked out 2 nights early.
➡️Location: It's relatively far from the city center (taking the Merlion as an example), more than a 10-minute drive, close to Little India, about a 5-minute drive. Across the street is a bar street similar to Amsterdam (you know what I mean), personally not used to it, it's quite messy at night
➡️Hotel service: As a design hotel, it has a strong sense of design with a retro style, but the service is just average.
👇
3. Le Méridien Singapore, Sentosa (pictures 6/7)
➡️Hotel care: Free upgrade to a garden pool suite, welcome card + thoughtful decoration + celebration cake.
➡️Location: The location is too good! Right opposite the Sentosa Express station (guests on the island get unlimited rides for 3 days), direct access to VivoCity and the beach, and only a few minutes from Universal Studios.
➡️Hotel service: Superb! It was the best front desk service I've encountered in a Marriott hotel! This hotel is not expensive and has a super high cost-performance ratio. I will stay here again when I come back to Singapore.
👇
4. Singapore Sentosa Cove (pictures 1/8/9)
➡️Hotel care: Free upgrade to a fabulous room with a balcony + thoughtful decoration + welcome gift (galaxy flowing sand chocolate🍫) + night bed service celebration cake (not delicious, but looks good!)
➡️Location: Located in the affluent area of island, it's quite far from the express train, but there is a free hotel-exclusive shuttle bus to the beach, VivoCity, and other main transport hubs.
➡️Hotel service: Standardized Marriott service, nothing particularly amazing. The hotel's off-season price is moderate, and the 24-hour swimming pool with a slide is worth playing with.

Whisky Club & Jazz Bar, Vagabond Club
#fallishere The Whisky Club and Jazz Bar at The Vagabond Club Singapore is a hidden gem that exceeded expectations. The impressive and extensive whiskey and drinks menu showcases a commitment to quality libations. As a non-whiskey enthusiast, the option of ordering a glass of red wine proved to be a delightful choice, with the selection proving to be delicious.
The ambiance and setting of the bar are outstanding, creating an excellent backdrop for a relaxed and enjoyable evening. As guests at the Vagabond Hotel, stumbling upon this establishment was a fortunate discovery.
While our visit was brief, the experience left a lasting impression, prompting a definite return when there's more time to fully savor and explore the offerings. For anyone seeking a sophisticated and inviting venue for drinks, live jazz, and a remarkable array of spirits, The Vagabond Club's Whisky Club and Jazz Bar is a must-visit.

The Vagabond Club, Artist Suite
#fallishere The Artist Suite at The Vagabond Club, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel in Singapore, made our one-day staycation an absolute delight. The room's modern yet plush and quaint decor created a comfortable and stylish ambiance. The real standout, though, was the waterfall shower – an experience akin to standing under a real waterfall, with invigorating pressure that leaves your skin feeling light and fresh.
The spaciousness of the suite was a pleasant surprise, offering ample room to relax. The complimentary access to the gym was a welcome addition, allowing guests to maintain their fitness routine during their stay.
Dining at the hotel was a treat, with a well-executed dinner set and a delightful breakfast. The lounge provided a perfect setting for relaxation, and the friendly staff added to the overall positive experience.
For those seeking a place to unwind without the constant need for poolside service, The Vagabond Club is a solid recommendation. The Artist Suite, with its unique charm and amenities, ensures a memorable stay that goes beyond the ordinary. Highly recommended for a refreshing and self-sufficient getaway.

Five Stars Hotel @ Jalan Besar
39 Syed Alwi Road, Singapore 207630
The five stars hotel is located at the jalan besar area. It is rare to find a five star hotel located at the neighbourhood vicinity. There is no complimentary parking for all in-house guests. The hotel guest can park at the public carpark located along the stretch or road outside the hotel.
The hotel is made up of several shophouses together. The hotel is priced at $200+ per night. For the lower tier rooms there isn't a bathtub in the room. The rooms are considered decent at a size of 22m2. The room is designed in a parsian style and looks great. The 41 rooms will definitely give you surprises for your stay.
