Cuihua mountain (part 3) - Heaven Lake
Location: Cuihuashan, Xian, Shaanxi, China
Entrance fee: 65¥
Date: April 5, 2022
Another amazing thing that we can do in Cuihua mountain is riding a boat in the Heaven lake (天池).
If you want to ride a boat, there are different prices. As I went there with my friends, we paid 120¥ for 30minutes (it was for 4people). It means 30¥ per person. I think it was quite cheap and worthy.
Also you need to give 100¥ as a deposit, which you can get back when you finish riding the boat. Extra 5minutes will cost 20¥. Pay attention to the time, if you don’t want to be charged extra money:)
Walking around the lake or riding the boat is the best way of spending an awesome and unforgettable day here in Cuihua mountain.

⛰ Wind Ice Cave + Climbing
After Tianchi, there is the Wind Ice Cave.
The natural wonders are truly amazing and beautiful.
The Wind Cave has a view of a narrow sky.
The walls of the Ice Cave are made of shiny rocks 🪨.
However, be careful ⚠ as the interior is very narrow, and you may bump your head in some places.
After coming out, you can climb the mountain.
👔 Outfit
It is recommended to prioritize warmth and comfort, such as a down jacket + sweatpants + backpack.
You can wear a hat and gloves, but it is best to wear gloves with separate fingers for a better grip on the railing.
🚗 Transportation:
Drive to the Cuihua Mountain Visitor Center, where there is a parking lot with a parking fee of 10 yuan (the right side of the road is full of illegally parked cars, so if you don't want to pay, you can park on the side of the road with other cars).
Take Metro Line 2 to Weiqu South Exit B, where there are drivers offering carpooling to Cuihua Mountain, or you can take a taxi, which takes about half an hour.
🍃Cuifeng Mountain, Xi'an's hidden paradise🌿, is located on the northern slope of the Qinling Mountains and is a branch of Zhongnan Mountain. It boasts magnificent landslides, stone seas, mysterious passes, and barrier lakes. The main peak, at an altitude of 2,604 meters, offers a panoramic view of Xi'an city from the top!
🚌How to get there? Driving is super convenient. From downtown Xi'an, take National Highway G210, and you'll arrive in about 1 hour. Alternatively, take Metro Line 2 to Weiqu South Station, Exit B, and then take bus 729, 335, or a free shuttle bus directly to the scenic area. Transportation is so easy!

Unfrozen River.
Stay in the Tianchi Service Area, turn around the village, and drive for 5 minutes to reach the Unfrozen River. You can camp by the river, experience horseback riding across the river, and see the classic scene of cattle grazing in the water. We missed the morning fog, but we found a reindeer feeding experience for CNY 30 per person. You will be given a small box of moss and carrots, and the reindeer will follow you. There are also sika deer and white horses.

Cuihua Mountain.
The Cuihua Mountain Scenic Area is like a natural landscape painting, quietly displayed in front of the world.
Here, the mountains are undulating, the peaks are abrupt, and the shapes are different. Some are like sharp swords piercing the sky, some are like sleeping Buddhas, and some are like dancing fairies, which make people marvel at the magic of nature.
Tianchi is like a green gem, embedded between the mountains. The lake is clear and transparent, reflecting the surrounding green mountains and trees. The breeze blows, sparkling, and the beauty is overwhelming.
The landslide relics are a great spectacle of Cuihua Mountain. The huge stones are scattered and seem to be telling the thrilling geological changes in ancient times.
Walking on the path of Cuihua Mountain, breathing fresh air, listening to the singing of birds, and feeling the warm embrace of nature, it seems that all troubles have disappeared.
Cuihua Mountain is a precious gift given to us by nature and a habitat for the soul.
Cuihua's beautiful scenery is famous, and the steep ridges and peaks reflect the sunlight.
The sea of stones is surging and surprises the visitors, and Tianchi is drunk in the heart.
The wind shakes the green trees and dances with thousands of branches, and the rain moistens the red flowers and smells of ten thousand flowers.
The leisurely flying sentiment is endless, and the mountains and rivers are like a long-lasting painting. Cuihua Mountain Scenic Area

Cuihua Mountain in Xi'an | World Geopark, witness the spectacle of mountain collapses and earth fissures
Cuihua Mountain is located in Taiyi Palace Town, Chang'an District, Xi'an City, as a branch of the Zhongnan Mountain, situated at the northern foot of the Qinling Mountains, 23 kilometers away from downtown Xi'an. The main peak is 2604 meters above sea level, covering an area of 32 square kilometers. Because Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty once worshipped the Taiyi God here, it is also known as Taiyi Mountain. There is a Cuihua Temple on the mountainside, which houses the statue of the Cuihua maiden. According to folklore, the Cuihua maiden fled here to fight for her freedom of marriage, and later became an immortal and left, hence the mountain was named Cuihua Mountain.
Cuihua Mountain was formed by a massive earthquake-induced landslide and is famous for its landslide geomorphology. The earliest recorded earthquake and landslide in China occurred in the second year of King You of the Western Zhou Dynasty (780 BC), which strongly affected Cuihua Mountain. The Tianchi Lake and the landslide were at least formed during this earthquake in 780 BC. The landslide geomorphology of Cuihua Mountain mainly consists of barrier lakes (Tianchi Lake), landslide dams, collapsed stone seas, and remnant peaks and cliffs. The preservation of the landslide geomorphology is intact, which is very rare in China, hence it is known as the 'Landslide Geology Museum' and 'China's Landslide Wonder'. The main attractions include the barrier lake (Tianchi Lake), Ganqiu Pool, Geological Museum, and the ceremonial site where Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty worshipped the Taiyi God.
The scenic area of Cuihua Mountain is very large, and it is unrealistic to visit all of it in one day. Depending on your own situation, choose a suitable hiking route that fits your ability. You can also drive to Tianchi Lake, where there is a parking lot, or you can choose to take a sightseeing bus to Tianchi Lake at the entrance of the scenic area.
